To be fair the showroom is lovely, well laid out, bright and an appealing sense of professionalism. The staff are polite, courteous and knowledgeable. There is plenty of fantastic illustrations of tiling ideas and styles to help you if you are lacking in your creative flair. With staff on hand to discuss what you may require.
So why only three stars? After all it appears that it is what you need or want in a business. The three stars are for the above.
However this is were my cautionary tale begins and the loss of the higher rating.
After much searching and trying to find a specific tile and look (Victorian mosaic)
I was fortunate enough to be advised by another tile store owner of the new store
Original Style. We went in and we found what we had been looking for, design of tiled floor beautifully laid. Enquiries made, asked about ordering, asked about tiler and recommend the tiler who had carried out the work in store. Card and information of tiler (45 years in trade) great!!
I was prepared to wait, as he could be busy understandable, given the work etc. So called tiler came out advised on what was needed for job, ordered the tiles (£500)
Tiler advised end of February, early March
(Tiles bought on November 2021).
So duly waited, called, texted and email tiler
No response?? So went to the store to ask if tiler was still working or alive (COVID).
Very helpful called tiler they explained, ask if I could call him. I did so, arranged a date 7th March. I started prep work removing old floor. I took 2 days off, 7th March came nothing, no tiler. I called, I texted and emailed....nothing. I called the store to ask again about the tiler as they had recommended him and appeared to know him well enough. In the end went to store, advised by owner that tiler had COVID??
He was going to text me?? Strange because he had now blocked my calls?
So £500 worth of tiles that require a specialist tiler to complete the job.
I researched for alternatives and found another company who advised on materials
(not tiles) to complete the job. The company reputable, and experienced advised on what was needed, duration cost and materials etc. The job to complete with all materials £2000 approx would take 5 days. I researched this as I said above. So yes it would be about that in the preparation and man hours doing the work.
The other quote from the other tiler was £500 and 2 days work, he never mentioned anything about other materials....not a thing!!
I have no explanation from the other tiler
Nothing! Disappointed yes!!
So if you do buy Victorian tiles make sure you know you have a tiler that is not going to let you down on a massive scale. Or like me unfortunately, the tiles end up in a landfill site.😞

Please bear in mind that we do not offer a tiling service, nor do we employ tilers. We would therefore kindly ask you to review the Original Style brand only, and not the work carried out by external contractors who are not affiliated with the company. Unfortunately we do not control the timescales, quality of work or indeed the availability of tradespeople.

The contractor/tiler was recommended by management/staff at the store site. They had
at the time trade cards and flyers promoting the contractors/tilers business. They (staff) knew of him and could easily contact him.
I was and will if asked commenting on my experiences at the time and my experience
was as is now of being feeling greatly let down.
I have reviewed favourably the store, staff and products therein. This was my experience and a note of caution as above.

Staff were lovely and professional. Served very quickly and allowed us to make a quick decision.

The Wallisdown branch (Liam?) was really helpful and our tiles arrived on time and are superb now up. Good range to choose from and the price was reasonable.

I have been a loyal customer to what are essentially good quality products. However, the customer service is very poor. The company’s tiles do not accurately represent the catalogue and they charged me an astonishing ‘restocking fee’.
If you attempt to deal with them directly they will fob you off to their stockists.
A great shame and I will now be looking for an alternative company for my design projects.
