Absolute scam, I was enrolled in a 4 year program with them and after 3.5 years only 10% of my enrolled debt had been settled even though i had payed the thousands of dollars, when I asked about why so little of the debt had been reduced I was told well after we collect all of our program fees then we pay towards enrolled debts, so frustrating cause had I just payed all that money towards the debts in the first place I would of been out of debt so much sooner. Only advice I can give is RUN AWAY FROM THEM FAST... DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR SCAM OPERATION

Horrible! I am sick over what this company has done to me. I signed with this company in 2019 to pay off 6 accounts that totaled about 22,000. I started paying them 401.00 a month every single month. To date I have 2 accounts paid, those 2 accounts totaled about 3,000? I now have received a summons letter in the mail for 2 accounts that I had included, the day I got this letter I sent it right to Opt 1, I also called them to verify that it was received. On day 10 I called them again because I had received no call from the “attorney” that was suppose to be assigned to my case. I called again on day 20, still nothing. I called again today day 26 of 28 days to respond to this summons. Still nobody has been assigned and I was advised that I can take 5-10 days. I was also told to call the court house to see how I should respond since my time is almost up. I was told by the clerk office there is nothing I can do unless I am disputing the debt and I am not. So there will be a JUDGEMENT against me. I paid them for these services that they did not complete. Let’s add this up 32 months 401.00 a month= 12,832.00 and only thing that has been settled was 2 accounts that totaled 3,000! So again this company is a SCAM.

I bit the bullet and finally severed ties with Option1….I’m sure this is the business model to keep you hanging on as long as possible while sucking out fees providing lies and frustrating people until they realize they have been taken.
I hope to see government agents walk out of their boiler room with boxes of evidence on TV some day.
I’ll be happy to share my story with them.
Stay away from these scam artists, you will never get the relief they promise.

I've been paying each and every month for over two years. One account was 'settled' for more than I owed, the other went to litigation and the attorney assigned 'settled' again for more than I owed. In the meantime, my credit is trashed, I cannot move houses and I received a litigation notice. The attorney won't respond to emails or phone calls asking for an update, CSRs just keep telling me to call back. I'm worried I'm going to get arrested randomly because they told me not to worry about showing up for the hearing. This company is the absolute worst, a scam. Be smarter than I was and get a personal loan to pay off debt. My credit is ruined and I'm screwed.

Has anyone of the dozens of people who are reporting the same fraudulent experience and received the "sorry for your experience, please provide a phone number and we will call you back" message actually received a call? Are there any class action suits in progress or could we start one? My experience is the same; devastating. Ruined my financial standing and not delivered on promosed actions, cannot contact anyone, new people each time I call, emails ignored, promises to escalate to the "customer experience department" unfulfilled, told "no one is actually assigned to a case and the payments department and settlement negotiators do not talk on the phone and I'm not authorized to send emails". Is there a way we can safely organize on this platform to connect and pursue legal action?

Like many other folks who gave "1" star, I too am frustrated. In 2 years they paid off one small debt in which I could have paid off in a shorter period of time. They take out about 30% of your monthly payment to them for, let's call it administrative fees with little action for you the consumer. Their debt relief sure helps their bottom line. And NO, I do not want anyone to contact me for resolution.

This company doesn't communicate with each other. We have tried for months to settle our account with no luck. I would never recommend them to anyone.

Let me be clear - over a YEAR of calling and emailing to get any sort of updates on one of my accounts. I've called at least 32 times where I've talked to customer service – while they are friendly they are ultimately unable to do anything more than reassure you that someone will follow up. THEY LITERALLY NEVER DO.

For many of these calls I would have to start the call about 50-60 minutes before I would expect to talk to someone.

Their dial-you-back-when-available feature does not work, they will never call you back. YOU MUST BE ON HOLD for nearly an hour most days.

Then, when you finally get to talk to someone friendly they will put notes in your account. But it is really just a log of your calls and if they "reached out" to any supervisors or negotiators. I believe that this company simply consists of only slick sales people and friendly customer service folks -- because no negotiators seem to ever resolve any issues, let alone attempt to reach out to your creditor/s. Nor do any supervisors ever call you back when a ticket/request has been put in for them to escalate the matter.

You are better off calling the creditors yourself and simply negotiating a payment plan or settlement offer if possible. Otherwise you will spend many thousands of dollars and many hours of your time trying to get people to do their jobs.

Oh - their phones happen to disconnect frequently too. And even though they will ask for you to verify an email and phone number in case of disconnect, they will never call you. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE

I fully expect an automated reply to this review to say that they will get back in touch. PLEASE do. Call me today, please.

As others have noted. Prolong period enrolled and no progress. Tons of “fees” accrued as have Ben 2.5 years enrolled with only worsening financial and credit issues. I signed up, within noted timeframe then decided to decline and back out- signed letter and sent “they didn’t receive “ and via email. Very disappointed all around, multiple emails without reply. Call and on hold for hours- got through once and “we almost have an account settled and will be within the month - not done. Would advise against using this company as is not helpful and will make your financial struggles worse and is by far too stressful trying to get in touch with them.

Option 1 does not even deserve 1 star. We have been calling them for 7 months regarding our accounts and we get the run around every time. No follow up, keep asking for more money, but they haven't done anything with the additional money I have already given them. They don't respond to summons, their attorneys don't respond to messages and their call agents never really make notes on your accounts like they say they do. Plus they REFUSE to give out any info to speak to someone higher up. HUGE SCAMMERS that have taken so much of our money.

I was reluctant to write a negative review however my experience with Option 1 Legal appears to be shared by others. That said, giving a 1 Star rating is being generous for their lack of transparency and communication not to mention the flat out dereliction on their part in negotiating with creditors. The fees I am paying and the fact that I was summoned by a creditor due to the Option 1 Legal negotiator dropping the ball is not acceptable. I could have settled my accounts without these fees thus saving hundreds if not thousands of dollars. In summary, don’t use Option 1 Legal for debt relief.

I have been in this program with Option 1 Legal since 9/1/2019. So far 1 small debt has been paid. I am now being garnished from my paycheck because 2 of the creditors never got any notification or communication from Option 1 Legal. This company takes your money and does absolutely NOTHING! Do not use this company.

Option 1 Legal is very frustrating to deal with if you are trying to receive ANY updates regarding your program / if you want to speak to an actual person using their customer support number.

I do not recommend this company. You can most likely just do what they are doing on your own- all they are doing is cancelling your credit cards, negotiating on a smaller amount, and then setting up a payment method / monthly schedule- you can do this all on your own, and you'd be suprised at how little effort it takes.

That said, I give this company a poor review because it is impossible to get a straight answer from any of these people. I don't think any of the customer support people have any idea what they are doing / are underpaid college / highschool dropouts. I tried contacting them to receive updates about a debt that went into default (because of them), waited on the phone for an hour, and then some joker picked up the phone and hung it up. Nice. So then I send an e-mail for updates, and after a day or so, they reply with "we are unable to help with this via e-mail, please call us"... so I did- and here I am, waiting ... it's been 30 minutes so far, listening again to their infuriating 16-bit quality playist from the 80's.

Do not use this company.

I have been enrolled with OPtion 1 since July, 2019. I had 7 debts. I was paying $778.00 a month. They told me they couldn't start paying my debts until I accumulated enough money for their lawyer fees which took 7-9 months. At first it was okay until they reeled you in. After a year and 1/2, they told me that I had to increase my monthly paymentts to 908.00 a month. They started paying the smallest card I had, and it's still not paid off. When I go on their website, nothing has been done or started.
For the past five weeks I have been trying to contact them with no luck. They put you on hold for over an hour. They have an option where they say they'll call you back. They never do. Finally, yesterday, they answered the phone after waiting almost an hour. I almost think they picked the phone up by mistake!
After being told that there wasn't enough money in my account (after 22 months being with this company), I got into a heated argument. She told me she was a supervisor and that a certain account was being paid and it wasn't. They don't even know what accounts they're paying. After paying almost 18,000 into the plan, the Supervisor told me I didn't have enough money in my account and that I needed to put more money in every month.
I would not recommend this company to anyone. The way they word things to you when you first call is very convincing. But you soon find out the only thing they want is money with no results.
I cancelled my account with them and working on trying to get some of my money back. The only thing I can say is to stay away.

I have been a client with Option 1 for a year and a half. I enrolled in the program with approx. $21,000 in debt. I was told in the beginning of the program that an estimated settlement number would require me to pay approx. $16,000. As of today I have paid over the estimated total. About a month and a half ago, I put a large sum ($8,000) into my account. My debts have not been settled. I understand that negotiations take time and it will not happen right away. This is not why I am so disappointed and frustrated. Every time I call Option 1 the hold time varies from 30 min-1hr 30 min. If you opt to get a call back, it NEVER happens. When I finally reach a person and ask about checking the status of my negotiations, they assure me I will get a call back and of course I have NEVER received one. Today I called (was on hold for 1 hr 30 min before someone answered) and spoke with Brinice. She informed me that my previous negotiator, Crystal, had documented that she called me back on 5/3. I checked my phone records and I did not receive a call. She then told me there was probably something wrong with my phone. She assured me she would call me at the end of the week to update me on the status of my negotiations so we will see if that happens. My new negotiator's name is Chris and apparently he has a good relationship with the creditors. She told me to give it seven business days before I can expect to hear from Chris. This is the same line I heard when I called two weeks ago and apparently the negotiation, Crystal, lied and said she had called me.

I am so frustrated and scared by this program. I have given them thousands and thousands of dollars. I asked Brinice today about withdrawing from the program and she said was welcome to but they would keep the fee that I owed them (roughly $6000). I told her I would be looking into securing legal council to retrieve this "fee" back since the company has done virtually nothing to help me. If I do not receive a call by Friday I will be looking into securing legal council. I also asked to speak with a manager and was denied. This company feels like a scam. I hope I am wrong but I am absolutely disgusted with the lack of professionalism. I am beyond scared and frustrated.

Do not give your money to these people!! The good references are from people just signing up! Do not be fooled

I have paid over $7000 and they have taken care of one very small account. I have been with them since 7-2019 They say there is only $597.in my bank what happened to the rest of the money? Go on BBB it is horrifying, I had worked with Michael Guia in the first round. This is total elder abuse. They only help themselves.

This company does not help anyone but themselves. I have called, emailed, and used the useless client portal that offers no help or support. I ended up solving all of my debts on my own.

I have been under this program since February 2019 with 4 debts out of the 4 only 1 debts has been on a scheduled payment plan, March 30 a settlement was made but as of today No payment has been sent out. This company has been paid to do there job and there not, this is the worst decision that I have ever made. Deanna Lewis

So Far as from what everyone who states this company is a scam is correct. I am not believing the reviews of people saying they are a great company.

I've had letters from a debt collector go to court against me, and Option 1 claimed it would be handled. Received a garnishment letter now, and spoke with that office, who has stated Option 1 has never contacted them.

Been paying into this program for over a year, and showing zero results on their end. They have failed time and time again to address issues, and even the lawyer they claim who was handling my debt collection seemed sketchy - no website, doesn't return calls/ emails.

DO NOT use Option 1

Great customer service and easy to contact some every time I call. Very exceptional and professional staff.
