This company does not attend phone calls, does not provide timely customer service/support when requested, does not seem to have enough technicians to attend to customer calls and needs.
They are in the business of collecting money and not satisfying customer needs.
Beware! Stay away From This Place!
If anyone reads all of the negative comments and experiences they have had, I have had exactly the same. They promise and take away. I was told I qualified for 20000 for a heat pump. Of course, AFTER I sign I find it is a loan with extreme high interest rates and payments of 167 dollars per month. They had initially told me the 167 was going to a green energy program and there would be no cost to me because of all the savings and rebates of 300 per month. As a senior I jumped at a chance to save some cash. They gave me until the next day to comply, pressuring me to hurry up as they wanted to get these rebates going asap.I had no time to think about it or research it as the women continually pressured and made things sound so good while telling me she worked with the government for rebates for seniors. They swooped in the next day and installed equipment that I was "guaranteed" to service my home and clearly it does only one room, in fact the installer told me it was not going to work the day of installation. They installed in cold weather so I was unable to tell if this thing was even working until the last few days. I then tried it again and found the final result. I tried several phone calls to their energy advisor and got no responses. I emailed her with the email address provided only to have my emails returned because the email address was incorrect. I tried calling directly though to OSE with no success and found I had a wrong phone number for that. After researching for a legit address and finally being offered a correct email for the energy advisor because now the cooling off period is over, I sent threatening letters to them telling them I wanted the equipment removed because now they are virtually absent from me and the equipment is not doing as they promised. When I finally reach the energy advisor, she apologises for her absence then sends me correct information but now their so called pissy little cooling off period is over and they are yelling at me and treating me like dirt. They finally agree to send someone out and it;s the same installer that tells me the equipment is not going to work in my home. He once again stands by his statement to us and calls this superior who I talk to previously and this guy, in the end result, goes another round with me, then hands the phone to some other sassy dame and she goes all over me telling me the cooling off period is now over and I am obligated for this loan for the next 20 years. She yelled at me saying if I do like the equipment, I can remove it at my own expense and sell it. It is no longer their responsibility. I am in my 70s. they tell me the loan is forgiven if I sell my house. Fat chance I believe them. They will recoup the loan if I am even able to sell my home. Their contract, which was only verbally explained, ties me in and says it is a loan and there is a lien on my home. The energy advisor claims this is not true and claims there is no lien. So ok,they lied to me AFTER I signed paperwork. On advice of police and legal counsel, I am no longer feeling threatened. OH, and watch your emails to them. I went into mine after my last phone call with them in order to retrieve all of my emails to them explaining I wanted out and guess, what, my account had been hacked and every one of those emails were gone. The only ones left were those that they sent me with their binding loan contracts. I am not accusing them but it's a little coincidental. These people need to stop taking from seniors They think they are in control now...we will see who wins out in the end..beware, do not talk to these people and especially sign nothing. Their word is crap.

Extremely Disappointed – Misleading, Overpriced, and Unethical Sales Tactics
I had a deeply frustrating experience with Ontario Smart Energy (OSE), and I feel obligated to share it to warn others.
1. Misleading Loan Information:
OSE’s sales rep assured me I could apply for the Canada Greener Homes Loan after the HVAC installation was complete. This was false — the program clearly requires pre-approval before any work begins. Despite my concerns, the rep convinced me otherwise and even guided me to submit incorrect information on the loan application, which could have serious consequences.
2. False Promises About Rebates:
I was promised a rebate of around $4,600. In reality, I only received $2,100. When I raised this, I was told OSE would cover the difference, but now they’ve gone silent. I have written messages confirming these promises, but OSE conveniently chooses to ignore them.
3. Unethical Financing Practices:
I was pressured into financing through VaultPay at what appeared to be a low interest rate (3.99%), without being clearly informed that the rate could later spike to as much as 10%. This bait-and-switch tactic is unacceptable and feels predatory.
4. Overpriced Equipment:
The HVAC system and water heater I received were priced far above market rates. Multiple quotes from certified contractors show similar systems and installation should not have cost more than $10,000 — yet I was charged significantly more.
5. Lack of Accountability:
Since installation, the sales rep has completely stopped responding to my messages and calls. OSE as a company has refused to take any responsibility, despite clear evidence of what was promised.
This experience has been stressful and expensive. I strongly advise anyone considering OSE to get second opinions, insist on everything in writing, and be extremely cautious with any financial agreements they present. I am currently exploring legal options due to the extent of the misrepresentation.

Where do I start. It’s like pulling teeth to get a $2000 rebate on a $28000 unit. They say Hydro One won’t allow them to apply the rebate to their bill. They decided to try to deposit monthly into our account instead which is ok as long as they continue to do so. Our unit broke down mid Feb (4-5 mths old) and they are unable to fix it if they actually make it to an appointment without cancelling it. We have had 4 or 5 cancelled appointments, meanwhile we are at home waiting for them to arrive. Lost wages!! After asking to speak with a manager, they decided to book another apt just to get cancelled on AGAIN!! Now I am sitting at home on a Friday afternoon waiting for them to arrive at 5:30. And I can wait to see the 1 year interest rate hike. I’m not sure what to do about that. That will for sure break the bank and put us on the streets. Not happy with this scam company what so ever and will be contacting a lawyer. Hate myself for signing up!
