A powerful supplement which significantly supports hormones and regulates mood.
Also known as chaste berry, agnus castus is an aromatic shrub which has been used for centuries to manage hormone balance. Sometimes called the ‘female herb’ it has proved very effective when fed to mares during their season. While mainly associated with mares, agnus castus has also been used to maintain hormonal equilibrium in highly-strung stallions as well.
Agnus Castus is effective for both male and female horses for the following reasons:
Hormones fluctuate on a regular basis. Mares in particular experience a change prior to or during a season which can cause irritability, aggression and make activities such as riding or showing difficult. Agnus castus has been found to help sustain a healthy hormone balance, leading to more relaxed and agreeable horses.
Agnus castus is also linked to supporting a healthy pituitary gland and endocrine system. This allows horses to healthily self-regulate their metabolism, growth, reproductive system and response to stress.
While known primarily for managing hormones, agnus castus is also a power antioxidant, containing compounds which ease stress and low mood.

Omega Equine were a brilliant company to deal with, extremely helpful when my order went missing, sending out a replacement via next day delivery. The product itself was purchased for use on a (very!) riggy gelding, one EMS pony, and one Cushings pony. The gelding is particularly fussy and wouldn't touch a lot of other blends, especially GH Rig Calm but seems to have accepted this very well with gradual introduction (currently he has 24g daily split over an AM and PM feed). It has defnitely made a visible difference to his levels of anxiety and excitability in just two weeks, and he hasn't been anywhere near as amourous with his herd mates either. The two laminitics also have accepted it without question, well mixed into feed with water. I can't say yet whether it is helping with their issues as we're on dry grass at the moment with the heatwave but I have high hopes for them going into the autumn that it will work as well with them as the gelding.

Amazing for moody mares

Delivery was quick and well packaged. The treats for us both were much appreciated. I wanted to try this product for my mare rather than jumping straight to Regumate. Definitely seems to have evened her out and, this is the amazing bit as she has a nose like a bloodhound for anything added to her feed, she loves it!

I did not want to put my mate on regimate so I did some research and the Angus castus was the next best herbal remedy for my mate she has been on it now for a month and she is returning to a sweet mare handleable less anxious and easy to work with best herbal product out there for my issue

It is difficult to review this as none of my ponies like the taste and it seems to be left in the bottom of their feed bowl. But, in any case, it would be difficult to assess the benefits in the short term. Maybe over several months it would be possible to say if the health of the animal had improved, but even then, as it is recommended for equines with Cushings, which is a seasonally affected condition of older horses and incurable it would be impossible to attribute any benefits with certainty.

My mare seemed to be in season almost constantly! In the past she’s been on regumate, but I was looking for something to help regulate her cycle without being harsh on her system. We’ve had her on Angus castus for a month now and when she came into season she seemed to show the typical symptoms for only a day! So far I’m very happy with the outcome and she seems more relaxed and content. I like that you can also give it to geldings, my yard owner has started to give it to her gelding that used to be very riggy when my mare was in season and he also seems to have calmed down.
