Faulty camera with no after sales Support … Avoid Naturespy

I was given a Naturespy camera for a Christmas present this year but after only a couple of weeks it stopped recognising the SD card that came with the camera. I tried removing the card reinstalling the app & camera but nothing worked. I then replaced the SD card with one of my own and it started to work again, but then after only another week it stopped writing to this SD card. Again I tried removing the card plus using the app to format the SD card (which at least it recognised) but all to no avail. I contacted customer service whose only suggestion was to use a computer to format the SD card. I don’t have a computer to format the SD card and quite frankly I shouldn’t have to own one just to get a camera that works off an app on my phone to work. I will go back to a Blink system or any other company but Naturespy who sell faulty products and have virtually no after sales support … buyer beware on this one!

Just in response to James E mail below the first response from Naturespy to resolve this was to find a PC which can format an SD card (something myself, and many others don’t have access too).

I then explained that the SD card that came with the camera was not being recognised and that I had tried a second SD card (which works perfectly well in another device) and that although this second SD card was recognised by the camera it would still not record to it.

After being told this, the second solution offered was to send me yet another SD card and then only if the problem continued would they send me a replacement camera.

Neither of these solutions was acceptable and therefore I have had to go for a refund.

Perhaps if they listened to what their customers actually say and offer up proper solutions i.e as you have already tried using a different SD card then send back this camera as it is likely a fault with the SD card reader then I would not have felt the need to do a 1 star review.

I've had a look at whats happened here. I think this review is a touch unfair, and some things have been missed as the email was passed on to you by the person who bought the camera for you.

You also emailed us at 19:40 yesterday evening, and then left the review at the same time. It would be appreciated to give us at least an opportunity to resolve this.

We asked the person who initially made contact if they can try reformatting the card in a computer. My colleague also said 'Of course if the problem persists do please let me know.'

As you're unable to format the card, you could have replied to the email and let us know that so we can send a replacement SD card out to you, or replace the camera if that is the issue.

Regarding your comment 'no after sales support' - I'm not sure why you've said this. The person who bought the camera emailed us on the 23rd January at 6:34pm in the evening. We then emailed back the following morning at 11:37am. You've only sent us one email, which was last night when we were closed.

Again I think perhaps something has been a bit lost in communication here and there is a misunderstanding. We'll be replying to your email from last night this morning and hopefully we can get this sorted for you. I would also kindly ask you to consider removing this review. You can also see from our other reviews that we do always try our best to resolve any issues with cameras purchased from us.

EDIT; To follow on from your reply, honestly this is just getting really silly and we're very happy to offer you a refund here. I'm not sure what you really want - we're trying to help you and its just proven pretty difficult as you are not really giving us much chance to sort it or communicate. Best of luck in the future.

Exemplary service from NatureSpy

My wife bought me a Strikeforce Trailcam with NatureSpy. She was advised so well on what product to go for from the many on offer in the marketplace. Its an excellent camera. NatureSpy though were absolutely superb at specifying the perfect camera for my needs. Also when the camera developed a rare fault they took it back and replaced it within days after trying everything they could to help remotely. The camera is great but NatureSpy provided absolutely exemplary support. I could not recommend them more highly. Many thanks

Superb service

I had a problem with a trail camera purchased several years ago, and they could not have been more helpful, indeed they were extremely generous, and it's to be replaced.
I can't praise their customer support highly enough. I think it's way beyond any expectations.

Wildcam 2 should be better

The camera's usefulness is dependant on what you want it to do.
I want to see the deer, badgers and foxes that frequent our garden at night.
However, the lag of recording for 2.5 seconds because "it has to connect to WiFi" means that I can miss some of the more sprightly visitors.
Viewing and saving recordings is not intuitive (needs a 5 minute YouTube video to explain how).
You can monitor movement all day long and get unnecessary alerts and recordings when you go in the garden or you can have one schedule that can't go past midnight; big minus for that.
I thought the colour night mode was impressive until I discovered that it's basically shining a spotlight into the area and frightening off anything that you might want to observe.
It's OK, but it could and should be an awful lot better.
It just needs attention to detail and usability.

Hi Graham - thanks for your comments. I think your expectations of the camera were quite high, which is why we offered you a refund here. For instance, as advertised clearly on the page, the camera does colour vision at night by having a white LED spotlight. 2 months later you were surprised that this happens and honestly its hard to understand your expectations in this regard. I think any wildlife camera is likely to leave you unsatisfied unfortunately, and I'm sorry we couldn't help further.

Great Customer Service

What superb customer service from this fabulous 'not-for-profit' small business.
My first Wildcam1 (bought February 2023) stopped working after a couple of months, so I contacted customer support (Gemma) for advice and after a couple of emails she replaced the unit with apologies. After 6 months of faultless use, sadly the replacement will no longer charge up. Another email to Gemma for advice has led to a replacement Wildcam 2 being dispatched.
Very happy customer!!

From 'what have I bought?' to 'brilliant'

I purchased a Wildcam 2 in August and as James & his team will know I had many queries as a result of my lack of knowledge - and, to be fair, in the absence of a user manual. As an online user manual has become available I think I know what I'm doing now......so I have one word for this camera - excellent!

This is a very well made camera I

This is a very well made camera I am having problems with the setup procedure I suppose not everybody gets their camera working 100%to their satisfaction if you are like me fear not because Harry and James are so patient and due to the muggy weather I am feeling very frustrated and I think it shows in my replies to them but knowing this company it will get sorted.
I am writing this review to back up all the other reviews about there exceptional after sales service it is very comforting in this day and age.

Great camera!

We are delighted with our camera, which we purchased two weeks ago. Delivery was prompt, the camera was well packed and included a basic Quick Start Guide. We bought a Wifi Wildcam 2 which was easy to set up. Pictures have been clear and easy to access & save.
We had a small query, so emailed the company. Had a quick response from the Team who gave us exceptional advice. We were very impressed.
Would recommend buying the mini-pod too.
Really delighted with Naturespy! Thank you!

Ordered a NatureSpy WiFi cam2

Ordered a NatureSpy WiFi cam2, when ordering I inadvertently put the wrong post code on the order.
I tried tracking and contacted Royal Mail but got no joy.
Spoke to NatureSpy about it and they immediately posted another one out to me next day.
Fantastic customer service

Will not sell to red squirrel conservation groups

We are a red squirrel conservation group. NatureSpy will not supply any equipment to red squirrel conservation groups on the grounds that they believe they carry out inhumane practices when dealing with grey squirrels. They do not provide any examples and cannot substantiate this. They also have an anti-hunting policy, despite all their products being made by hunting and firearms manufacturing companies such as Browning. It is hard to believe that a company that preaches conservation will not supply conservation groups whilst selling equipment made by hunting specialists. They will not correspond regarding this and will not engage in any way. They have been asked to supply details of inhumane treatment but will not do so.

Incredible value for money

I received my camera today. I am in no way a techy. It was incredibly easy to connect it to my phone and then, after charging it, I popped it on its tripod in the garden. The quality of filming is outstanding! I could watch the wild hedgehogs all evening and, when it was pitch black, could opt for infra red or colour (hedgy not at all bothered by the bright light when opting for colour.) I cannot believe that a camera of this quality is so affordable. Really love it!!!

Naturespy is simply an excellent…

Naturespy is simply an excellent company. We have bought 4 cameras from them over the last few years, and a number of accessories, and have used them to records hundreds of hours of video at local badger setts. When l have asked questions l have always received detailed and useful advice. On the one occasion when a camera turned out to be a dud it was straightaway replaced. I always recommend NatureSpy to friends in the wildlife watching community and do so with complete confidence.

Highly Recommended

Bought a camera from NatureSpy for our back garden to see the wildlife. It gave great service until recently when it stated to malfunction just inside the 2 year guarantee. I had a same day response from the team who advised to send to their repair shop. They couldn't repair it so sent us a replacement unit within the week. Excellent service, good communication. I highly recommend them.

Disappointed with Naturespy Wifi Webcam

I'm really disappointed with the NatureSpy Wifi Wildcam. It was frustrating to set up and it's frustrating to use.
The setup problem was largely due to the lack of an adequate user guide. Eventually I found a video online that helped me but only after hours of head scratching.
The ongoing problem is that the user is at the mercy of an Android/IoS app which appears to be the only way to access footage and is a pain to use. It has a USB cable but as far as you can't access your data that way. The app relies on a terrible, non-intuitive graphical interface to locate footage. There's no list of clips, no ability to scroll files, just a dark timeline view for a chosen day with hard-to-see grey areas to indicate when the camera was activated. Desperately needs a software overhaul. I wanted something I could enjoy with my step-son and instead I'm just frustrated and feeling I've wasted my money.

Pleased with this product

Received a ground feeder as a Christmas present which is filled regularly with dried meal worms. I have never been able to catch what is eating them until I purchased a Naturespy camera. With the help of computer minder daughter the camera was set up in no time. We discovered it is an early morning blackbird arriving at 8 sharp for his breakfast and he chases off any other birds who dare to come near.
The pictures are so sharp and clear and I am sure we will be getting a lot of pleasure watching the wildlife around the garden.

Camera fault

I had a problem with atrail camera more than a year after purchase. After several prompt mails with advice failed to rectify the issue, I was offered a replacement camera which arrived in days. This kind of customer service exceeded all my expectations and I can recommend NatureSpy without reservation. Derek (Warwickshire)

Naturespy outstanding company

I wanted to order a new trail camera but not sure what. I saw Naturespy on line and how glad I did. They helped me with the choice of camera and delivered it extremely quickly. Being a novice I had a few issues with setting up so I contacted them to help. The help was amazing so informative quick response to emails and nothing was too much trouble. I would not hesitate to use them again and again. Thank you very very much.
