AVOID THIS COMPANY (SCAM)
Avoid this company. I signed a contract with Native Book Publishing in February 2025 for around £2,400 for a full publishing package with multiple services included. Looking back now, I genuinely regret it.
The promises made at the beginning did not match the reality at all. My original editor, Amy, left midway through the project before the book had even properly started. Only a handful of chapters had been worked on, and my novel is around 60 chapters long. At the time, I think I was too patient and understanding because the amount of actual work completed was extremely minimal. Honestly, I ended up producing better work myself.
Originally I was charged £2,000, then later told the book “needed more work” and I would need to pay an additional £800. After refusing, they reduced it to £400 extra. Even the cover design they created was average at best, and by that stage I was so exhausted with the process that I just approved it to move forward. I later redesigned my own cover and it turned out far better.
I spent time on detailed calls discussing my story and vision. During conversations, it always felt like Amy understood exactly what I wanted. But then I’d wait two weeks for a chapter update only to receive something opposite, disappointing, and completely lacking depth. (literally no change at all)
My project manager Aaron also left during the process, and it became clear the company was having internal staffing issues. Editors and staff were constantly changing, but regardless of what was happening internally, this should never have affected paying clients. I waited months for updates only to eventually be told my editor had left and someone new was taking over.
The replacement editor clearly did not understand my project at all. Communication was poor, and the chapters provided contained incorrect plot points despite me repeatedly explaining everything in detail.
Eventually, I became completely exhausted and requested a refund. In September 2025, I was promised £2,000 back. Since then, I have spent month after month chasing this refund. It is now May 2026, and I am still receiving excuses and false promises from the manager, Keith, saying it will be sorted “next month.”
At this point, I genuinely feel scammed. I am currently trying to find contact details for the CEO or owner because I desperately want this resolved and my money returned.
The saddest part is that I have now completed almost half of the book myself and done a far better job than the service I paid thousands for.
Please be careful with companies like this. In my opinion, self-publishing should be about authors having control over their own work, not paying huge amounts for disappointing results and endless delays.
Absolutely disappointed.
