Efficient Conveyancing
This is the second occasion we have used Mincoffs for conveyancing - this time on a probate property where the two executors lived in different parts of the UK. The service and advice from the conveyancing team was excellent enabling us to complete very quickly despite some of the practical issues. Many thanks to Ashleigh Warne and her team - Stacey, Sharni and Jane

A Masterclass in Decline
A Masterclass in Decline
Ah, Mincoff Science & Gold—once the crown jewel of Newcastle’s legal scene, or so I thought. Three decades ago, while working in an accountancy practice, I had the privilege of preparing complex financial analyses for their partners, particularly Howard Gold, a man whose integrity and ethical standards were beyond reproach. Back then, Mincoffs was the epitome of professionalism. Fast forward to today, and well… let’s just say the glow has well and truly faded.
A year ago, during the sale of my business, I was represented by Sintons, while the buyer had the fortune (or misfortune) of choosing Mincoffs. Given my past positive experiences, without hesitation I entrusted Mincoffs with a substantial Escrow retention sum, to be held safely in their client account for 12 months. What could possibly go wrong?
As it turns out—everything.
When the time came for the funds (and, dare I say, the princely sum of interest) to be released, things got… interesting. Mincoffs initially calculated the interest at a figure mysteriously short by £4,538.54. Of course, assuming they simply had a calculator on the blink, I politely raised the issue—not once, not twice, but three times. Each time, I was met with a response so curt, I half-wondered if they were being charged per syllable. And rather than correct their “honest mistake,” they doubled down and adjusted the figure even further downwards, perhaps to teach me a lesson for daring to challenge their calculations? —by a thrilling £9.91. Because, naturally, they must have thought, "Why stop at one baffling error when we can make two?"
So, there I was, staring at their final offering: a jaw-dropping £488.92 in interest on £100,000 held for a year. A return so generous, I nearly fainted from excitement.
With Mincoffs seemingly uninterested in resolving the issue, I did what any rational person would do—I escalated the matter to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). And lo and behold, within an hour of Mincoffs being notified, a miracle occurred! They suddenly recognised a “genuine error,” apologised profusely, and—abracadabra!—£4,538.54 reappeared. The timing? Impeccable. The sheer coincidence? Staggering. The apology? Oh, just dripping with sincerity. Though, curiously, it didn’t come from the solicitor responsible for the “error,” nor a partner within the firm, but rather an associate, because nothing says accountability like passing the buck. Last minute damage control at its finest.
I’ll let others draw their own conclusions, but as for me? I wouldn’t trust Mincoffs to calculate the change from a £10 note. A deeply disappointing experience, and one I won’t be repeating
House Sale and Purchase
Can't fault the firm at all. They were reccommended to us by our estate agents and were impeccable throughout. E-mails answered promptly and always reachable by phone. Lauren handled our sale and purchase and nothing was a bother, happily explained everything I needed and made me felt at ease with a totally new process.
Can't praise them highly enough
Rebecca Stafford - Just brilliant
Rebecca Stafford is the most personable yet professional, patient yet proactive and probably the most communicative solicitor I have had the pleasure to deal with, and I deal with a lot. Many solicitors could do with taking a leaf out of Rebecca's book, simply brilliant, thank you.
Absolutely flawless experience - Conveyancing
Absolutely flawless experience with Miss R Stuart in Conveyencing! Highly recommended. Great communication, very quick will all aspects of the purchase.
Really good
Recent house sale and used Mincoffs, really good from start to finish, always kept updated and answered any queries and ensured it all went smoothly.
Stay well away

Mincoffs handled the conveyancing for the purchase of a Tyneside flat. We wanted to complete quickly and Mincoffs, Danielle Rutter in particular, were spectacular.
No complaints, very professional.
Still not heard from Mincoffs
Still not heard from Mincoffs
regarding my complaint despite their assurance that they will look into this matter.
This is exactly the poor experience i received.
They take payment very efficiently though.
Below average service - wouldn’t recommend
Used Mincoffs after my estate agent recommended them. Upon reading the contracts, the estate agent was paid £150 referral fee. Fair enough business is business and I assumed a good collaboration would mean flawless comms. No - not at all
I ended up joining all the dots and making things happen. Granted the buyers mortgage was messed up but still, neither Mincoffs or Living Local kept me updated to a level that was acceptable. The structure at Mincoffs is admin assistants working under the Conveyancer Solicitor - this for me didn’t work well. The level of engagement was bog standard
What was a very simple process (First time buyers & No Chain Vendor) took three months. I couldn’t give Mincoffs or Living Local a lower rating and wouldn’t recommend them to anyone for the purpose of Conveyance.

Mincoffs Solicitors helped sell our property and also we used them for the purchase of our new property. They were super efficient, diligent and kept us informed throughout the whole procedure. I would definitely recommend this company.

Very good service from start to finish
Used Mincoffs for buying my first house and they were very good at communication, if not a little unprofessional in their e-mails at times but mostly because they replied so fast and often not during office hours. Good service the whole way and chased other solicitors consistently for us. They explained the whole process and their quote was 100% what we paid, definitely worth it. Gordon was very good at communication and let me know what was going on every step of the way.
This firm has no moral compass
This firm has no moral compass, ethical stance or values. Represented and enabled The High Street Group to commit fraud and left investors with losses in excess of £200 million.
Poor communication unexpected charges - they held up a property…
Poor communication held up a property purchase, a request for a payment was buried away in a letter. On paying the accounts department they seeming did not update anyone.
Later I engaged them to deal with tenancy ending early and wanted the tenant to pay their costs. They drew up a document and I was paid by the tenant. After this they sent a couple of emails and billed me £240 for them! They seem to have a bizarre way of treating their clients!
Employment Team were absolutely faultless in every single way
The employment team at Mincoffs achieved for me, what I did not think was possible. As a result, I have been able to move onto the next chapter of my life and I am so much better off in every single way. Whilst I had much evidence, it was their expert strategy that resulted in the exact outcome I asked for and needed.
Nick and Laura were superb and Laura in particular kept me up to date at every stage and made the whole thing easier for me. I would not be where I am now, without them. I could not recommend them enough. Thank you.
Mincoffs conveyancing department is…
Mincoffs conveyancing department is professional and responsive.
I used Mincoffs for conveyancing as a first time buyer at the end of the stamp duty holiday September - December 2021.
People said the biggest pain is the conveyancing. Solicitors are always slow and take weeks to respond... I got lucky and picked the right conveyancers.
Gordon always got back to me via email within 24 hours, pretty much always the same day and often multiple times if I had follow up questions. His email tone and attitude was polite and always managed to clarify my queries. He also got my housing surveys to me only a week after I had paid my initial fee. I know other people at this time still waiting months! Mincoffs were very proactive despite how busy it was at the end of the stamp duty holiday.
Over the phone I spoke a few times with Sophie and found her customer service excellent. She helped ease some anxieties I had around some anxieties around a mining survey notification and she explained what this meant and the effect it would have on the process (all worked out good in the end because they wrote to the lender and got the approval to proceed with my offer unaffected).
Thanks Mincoffs for an excellent service at a fair price, I will certainly recommend for conveyancing to friends and family.
Go elsewhere
Shocking solicitors, communication is non-existent and leaving people in the lurch seems to be acceptable with this firm. When you’re lucky enough to hear from them you receive contradictory information which either seems made up or the person dealing is incapable of performing their duties. Would give 0 stars if possible.
