Order took a while to arrive and the quality of the plants was not particularly high. In other words, Middleton did not provide value for money.

The Salvias are exceptional, the variety is really good, the order system and delivery is really high standard, Middleton nurseries are by far the best of any plant supplier that we have used over the last 30 years

Arrived in excellent condition,cut down to ensure no damage. Well packed.
Now grown to treble size on arrival and delice acquamarine salvias flowering. Argentine skies grown well but no flowers yet and bulman salvia growing slower.

Later in the season, our plants are often much more mature and larger in size, which can make them a little trickier and more challenging to pack and transport. However, we always take great care when packaging your plants to ensure they arrive with you in the best possible condition.

The plants arrived very well packaged and in a very healthy state. Unfortunately they were not delivered before the end of June as stated on the website when ordered which meant by the time they were planted we went on holiday a week later and we had trouble getting them watered enough.

As explained in our email correspondence, this plant was more mature and had been grown throughout the season, which is why there was a difference in size and shape compared to your first purchase.

Wonderfully healthy plants
Wonderfully healthy plants, carefully packed. I bought salvia, echinacea and geranium.
So marvellous that this nursery delivers efficiently to Northern Ireland (July 26).
(It would have been 5stars all the way but as a first time customer I would have liked a bit more timely communication about the gap between order and delivery as the plants needed a bit more time to be ready than first forecast.)

2 Years Running Received Wrong Plants
I've ordered plants for the past 2 years from the Middleton Nurseries website.
Last year after 3 emails with photos they finally admitted that the plants I'd received were not what I'd ordered. They then sent me replacement plants even though I'd advised them I would be on holiday in 2 days. As you can imagine the plants didn't survive due to the lack of care. Who would order plants knowing they were going on holiday in 2 days?? A fool perhaps?? Middletons reason for me receiving the wrong plants was "this was caused by an issue at our supplier’s end, where the incorrect plants were supplied to us."
This year (stupidly) I gave Middletons the benefit of doubt and ordered 7 different plants again from their website on 18th May. The website at the time was advertising they would be sent "from the end of May" that was also confirmed in the order confirmation email I received. In mid June I became suspicious as some of the plants I'd ordered were no longer being advertised on their website (a red flag on what was to happen)?? On 23rd June I received an email confirming the 7 plants had been dispatched and were delivered on 24th June. Upon opening the delivered package I discovered that there were only 6 plants. There was a hand written note on the dispatch note stating due to a "crop failure" they couldn't supply one of the plants. I had not been made aware of this at anytime in the 5 week wait from order to delivery and also had not in this time been reimbursed for the alleged "crop failure." I also became more suspicious as some of the plants had been cut back so apart from the Pot Label there was no way of knowing whether the plants I'd received were actually what I'd ordered. What had also made matters worse I'd received a promotion email from Middletons in early June stating £15 off when you spend £60 or more. This was after I'd spent £68 and were waiting for my order to be sent from "the end of May."
After a complaint email and leaving negative feedback I did receive a full refund on 25th June (that I never asked for) and upon this I did originally withdraw the negative feedback. However, since the plants received have matured there are definitely 2 out of the 6 received that are not what I ordered and was not aware of this until now. Yesterday I sent another email to Middletons and their reply was "as explained in our email sent on 24th June, we experienced an issue with incorrectly labelled plants supplied to us this year. Unfortunately, this wasn't something that could be identified until the plants came into flower." This is completely untrue and was not mentioned at all in their email on 24th June and at that time I wasn't aware the plants I'd received were not what I'd ordered.
What becomes apparent is when you complain to Middletons they blame their suppliers and they also come back with "we are a small family business with just 3 full-time employees, along with a few helpers who support us during our busiest packing periods." I'm sorry you accepted the orders and failed to deliver the orders over the past 2 years regardless whether there's 3 people or 3 hundred people working for you. You seem to have enough staff when you visit the many shows you like people to know you attend!!
Based on my experience I would not order from their website again. Perhaps buying their plants from the shows they regularly attend maybe different as I suppose you can see what you’re buying then as the plants I would think have not been cut back for the convenient "recognised horticultural practice" prior to posting.
I understand I've received a full refund (that I never asked for) but if I wanted the plants I've received I would have ordered them originally. Also I've had to wait approximately one month from delivery to find out the wrong plants have been sent again and have wasted my time in planting and caring for them. With 1 plant looking like it's a dwarf version of something similar to what I ordered and a repeat of 2025 order problem.
UPDATE- In response to Middletons fabricated reply below
I received the order on 24th June and received a full refund on 25th June. It was actually on 21st July I notified Middletons that the wrong plants had been sent again as up to this point I was unaware as the plants hadn't flowered. This actually shows they were fully aware the wrong plants had been sent at the time and as they state below "once the issue became clear, we refunded the remainder of your order in full" which was on 25th June the day after I'd received the order!!
I should also add that Middletons tried to get my review taken down for defamatory content?? Please see below the message from Trustpilot.

We are disappointed that, despite the steps we have taken to resolve the issues raised, you still feel this reflects your overall experience with Middleton Nurseries.
To clarify, your order was delayed because one of the Echinaceas included in your order was not ready at the expected time. We accept that the delivery timeframe on our website had not been updated correctly, and this was our mistake. As soon as it became clear that we could not supply one of the plants, we included a note with your order and refunded you for the missing Echinacea.
The issue regarding the incorrectly labelled plants was completely separate and was caused by our supplier. The Echinacea plugs were supplied to us with incorrect labels, meaning the error was not something we could identify when the plants arrived or while they were growing. Unfortunately, many Echinacea varieties can look extremely similar before flowering, and the issue only became apparent once the plants matured.
At this point, we did not immediately send replacements because we wanted to ensure we had correctly identified which varieties were affected before sending out further plants. We did not want to risk sending replacements that could potentially create further disappointment or confusion. Once the issue became clear, we refunded the remainder of your order in full and allowed you to keep the plants free of charge as part of our effort to resolve the situation fairly.
We believed this matter had been resolved following our previous communication and the refunds provided. Therefore, receiving your latest email approximately a month later was unexpected, especially as we had already refunded the full order value and provided the plants free of charge rather than asking for them to be returned.
We choose to issue refunds rather than enter into lengthy discussions or prolong the process, even though doing so comes at a significant financial cost to a small family business like ours. Legally, we could have requested the plants be returned, but we chose not to because we wanted to resolve the matter as fairly and conveniently as possible.
You have also commented on our staffing. Middleton Nurseries is run by just three full-time family members—myself, my sister and my dad. The additional people you see helping us at flower shows are other family members who kindly take annual leave from their own jobs to support us during these events. They are not full-time employees.
We completely understand that receiving the wrong varieties is frustrating, and we appreciate that you were disappointed. However, we are disappointed by the suggestion that we are dishonest or that we use being a family business as an excuse. We are a small family-run nursery trying to make a living, and we work extremely hard throughout the year to provide quality plants and good customer service.
Mistakes can happen in horticulture, whether due to crop issues, incorrect information, or supplier errors. What matters is how a business responds, and we believe refunding you for the missing Echinacea, then later refunding the remainder of your order while allowing you to keep all of the plants free of charge, demonstrates that we acted fairly and in good faith.
We are sorry that our resolution has not met your expectations, but we do not believe there is anything further we could reasonably have done.
