Appalling App, Appalling Service, Appalling Bank

I've spent two days trying to make one simple "Pay Anyone" amount for a relatively low amount - nothing that should ring any bells. Two days of trying to contact them via the App (the "Banking Butler" never responded), two attempts to get in contact by phone (total on-hold time 1hr 45mins).
I joined this bank about 5 years ago to get away from the huge anonymous Big 4 who don't give a rats about small customers, just their shareholders, and initially enjoyed the ME Bank experience, but in the last 12 - 18 months the service and facilities have taken a deep dive to the abyss. I now have to consider changing banks again, which is a pain, but I think I have to do it for my own sanity.

They missed my settlement that was…

They missed my settlement that was supposed to be yesterday at 2pm, and since then, I have spoken to 6 different people and just been bounced around. I don't understand how a bank misses settlement that is already booked? Unbelievable. On hold right now as I write this and it's been over an hour.

Yes I agree. The new system is terrible. 2.5 hours to speak to a customer rep. For the second time and after 1.5 hours their phone cut off. Not their fault but got wrong information. Tried again to contact and after an I hour again, gave up. Still not their customer support fault, but new log in etc is beyond me. They must be under the pump. So many hurdles to get into my accounts no record of history unless you use their App. I use only a secure internet and they now do not support a full service and so I am moving banks to another. Shame really they were a good bank to deal with and now I would give them -10 and will never deal with them again. BOQ have ruined ME Bank. Have been with them since they launched over 25yrs

This is not the way banks are supposed to work. MF Bank's customer service is warped. The foreign call dudes have no idea how to verify your ID, and then they imply you're attempting ID theft and hang up. It is an utterly miserable, infuriating experience dealing with these useless muppets. Avoid, and choose any other bank.

It started out well enough 3 years ago. But after 3 years, we looked around and found out that ME wouldn't want to offer us our current mortage....and that they were overcharging interest to the tune of $500/mth. Add to that the arbitrary decision to push us to a different platform, the incorrect email content on interest rates and transition to ME Go, and the fact that it's now been 3 phone calls and 3 hours of my time just to get a discharge form (after being the told the one on their website is incorrect), I cannot wait to be done and dusted.

waiting time!!!!!

Trying to get some information on my homeloan discharge. Been a customer for close to 30 years. On hold for 2hours and 4 minutes. Ended up hanging up! Back on again - waiting for 1 hour!!!!! absolutely pathetic - will NEVER use them again.

Why should never let marketing or "consultants" take charge of a project

I have to say the ME Bank's new application was clearly designed and implement to achieve one objective; to provide customers with a valid reason to close accounts with the nightmare roll out between their legacy and the new GO (nowhere) App. It is startling, to think that some desk bound clueless marketing guru jockey with an overpaid consultant using w**kwords to impress a board to launch an incomplete application that does not capture all the customer information that exists between the app the legacy platform. It is disconcerting that in my case I was transferred in May 2025, you would think that it would be up-to-date, but no, I spent 45 mins waiting in the ME queue to be answered, (I want to emphasize that this is not about the the CSR's they have been placed in this unholy pisspot by higher authority trying to put out multiple bush fires) I was told that I needed to be transferred to the GO App technician help desk, the person who answered was pleasant, but resolved nothing other than telling me the information I did not see on go nowhere app was on the legacy platform, transferred waited in the queue for 1hr 20 mins and then hung up on despite being told that the call centre was open to 08:00pm. So now I, like hundreds of other ME customers have to start from scratch, hanging up is not going to make the problem go away, it will still be there in the morning. But giving me more reasons to abandon ME that when it started was fantastic, until now, has lost the plot since being taken over, by releasing an app that was not ready to be released; but then the shareholders probably demanded it!

If I could give this bank zero stars I would.
From poor customer service, extreme wait times to get through to the customer representatives, to being unable to purchase tickets online due to MEbanks clunky, faulty failing 2FA system to which their staff dismiss when complaints are made... this bank needs to be closed permanently

Just avoid

I had a very frustrating experience with ME Bank during my home loan.
I was advised by their staff over the phone that if I wanted my monthly repayment to be taken from my redraw account, I could simply empty the direct debit account and the system would automatically deduct the repayment from the redraw balance. Following their instructions, I did exactly that.
However, instead of doing what they told me, the bank started charging me dishonour fees every month. This went on for several months before I realised what was happening. I was essentially paying fees because I followed the guidance given by their own staff.
Because of this experience, I decided to refinance away from ME Bank.
To make matters worse, it has now been over three weeks since my refinance settlement and they still haven’t processed the discharge. The delay is unacceptable and feels like they are just ripping customers off with unnecessary fees and poor service.
Overall extremely disappointing service, misleading advice and very slow processing. I would not recommend ME Bank.

Update: It’s now been over two months since I refinanced away from ME Bank, and unbelievably I’ve just received another bill from them. Already paid all fees requited when refinancing, seriously what is going on?

Constantly getting locked out with excessive log in requirements. I made one mistake trying to log in this morning and I'm still locked at 6pm!!!! Ill be closing my accounts soon. Dont need the drama.

ME Bank can't be trusted

ME Bank can't be trusted, they just don't care about you. I had a direct debit come out of my account from a business I cease doing business with, I rang customer service, after waiting for 1 hr I was told yes they will refund it back into my account and it would take 3 weeks, wtf after the 3 weeks the money still hadn't been refunded ! I rang the company direct and they said they'd refund it in 5 working days and true to their word it was.

Don't bother trying to invest money…

Don't bother trying to invest money with this lot unless you have a couple of days to spare chasing up the myriad of bureaucratic obstacles that are placed in your way. A simple task of investing some money with them required not only their own bureaucratic nonsense with multiple forms of ID which were occasionally rejected by the system, but the transfer to an unknown third party who wanted the information all over again. Ended up investing with the CBA with a slightly lower interest rate, but the transaction was completed within 10 minutes.

So far have spent 2.5 hours on hold over 3 calls, as still haven't spoken to anyone. I don't have infinite time putting up with their hold music and voice over saying my call is "important".
They sent no useful information to me after moving my home loan to them. The info I did receive had broken websites and referenced an app - but which one of their apps??
Like app roulette.
Have made complaints with no follow up. Broker even tried to get them to call me as I have no idea when payments are due, how to access accounts.... No information, no help, haven't spoken to anyone or got an email.

ME bank are going downhill...

I have always loved having ME bank accounts because they weren't like the big banks. You got personal service, while being able to talk to a real person, with minimal hold times. Or, I would contact them via Me bank chat and it was immediate assistance. I had a failed transaction 3 days ago due to my failure to increase the money in my account. No drama, I transferred more funds and tried to make the transaction. No go. ME bank would not let me make the transaction. Ok, their system likely thought it was someone using my card. Simple fix by me calling them, except I could not get through to ME bank. I tried again on Sunday but could not be bothered waiting. So, I waited for Monday and have been on the phone on hold for 58 mins!!! I tried reaching ME bank via the ME go app using chat, but that was useless and I could not even get a recorded response from a robot. This was likely the last straw and I will now be moving my accounts to one of my other banks. The customer rep was helpful when I got through but I just cannot rely on this bank anymore.
