As a member of the scientific community, and as someone who is mindful of how often my family is being exposed to chemicals and poisons- I can't recommend Mamavation enough. As a scientist- I always appreciate when testing of products is thorough and no agendas are hidden. YES, there are partnerships with products- but because they are products proven to be better for our families.
I appreciate not having to vet every single product I use anymore to kwep my family safe- I just go to Mamavation now!

Mamavation is my go-to website for knowing what to buy and what to avoid.

They claimed to recommend trusted and nontoxic products, but when you look at the actual ingredients, there are anything but on many of them. You wonder if they are getting kickbacks from certain companies to make recommendations in the claim if unbiased reviews.

So grateful for this website. Most recently I found myself referring to Mamavation to help others who were struggling to lower the toxic load in their personal products. And before that I personally had found value in a December 2023 post about the sneak stuff companies do to trick people with "lab results". Don't even get me started - this one was eye opening, unsettling, but not surprising. Thank You Mamavation for being relentless in your pursuit of transparency.

I had three separate friends/family members asking for my help with replacing their deodorant, sunscreen, and lotions with safe, less toxic options. And thank goodness I could count on Mamavation.com to offer us some well-founded lists ranging from not so great, to better, and then the best options. Knowing that people I care about were covering themselves with a toxic soup of chemicals and then baking in the sun had been making me cringe for years. And most of my concern had fallen on deaf ears.

But now that resources like Mamavation are sharing the truth, and uncovering the nonsense to help those of us who want to make healthy changes, I'm hopeful that more people will be able to make better choices. Once you know better, you can try your best to do better - in whatever way that resonates with you personally. Having resources & support from websites like Mamavation makes that task a little less challenging.

We are poisoning ourselves to death. The government isn't keeping a close enough watch and in lieu of regulation in the United States, we have to resort to consumer advocacy & litigation. Mamavation is advocating for the health of all humans and beings by conducting thorough & detailed testing to hold brands accountable for their supply chain.

The service this site provides is invaluable and expensive to uphold. It requires an intelligent organizing force. Leah Segedie is an advocate for the health of humanity through her tireless quest for a healthier world for generations to come.

This company gives informed reviews of brands, primarily based on testing or ingredients. Testing may include heavy metals, such as lead or cadmium, PFAS, or other ingredients that some people cannot tolerate. The blog shares detailed descriptions of how these ingredients can be harmful based on research, and rates companies so that people can find product recommendations.

This is a great website. The founder does lots of lab testing of different products for PFAS, heavy metals, and all sorts of other things. My only issue with this site is the ads. There are so many. But it's free information and it's very valuable, so I can't complain too much. She's got to make a living after paying for all those labs.

I love this site and their studies. This is my go-to website for PFAS research and product recommendations. The studies on tampons, contact lenses, and cookware have saved me so much time and research.

Ms. Segedie created this site from scratch and has built a small empire from it. It appears on the surface to be akin to Consumer Reports in that the site "busts" toxic products, reports on lab test results and makes recommendations on the "best" and "healthiest" products in various categories. No doubt there's been a lot of work put into this site!

I trusted this site implicitly for about 2-3 years. I made major purchases based on the reviews, religiously following her reports. I purchased the mattress recommended (a major purchase); the cooking pans recommended, the "safest" dog food and even the water purifier company named the "best" was on my Christmas list. That's when things went sour.

I had been invited to be part of a private Facebook group with other Mamavation acolytes. This "privilege" made us feel like we were in some sort of inner circle of people who care about their homes and keeping them non-toxic. I had the impression that we were sharing ideas with each other. That's what it seemed like to be in this special, private group. So, when I posted information about a negative experience with the water filter I bought based on the Mamavation reviews, I thought I was being a hero... I kid you not. I thought they'd all want to know about the issues and fight I had with the company, who wasn't being transparent about what they put in their water filtration/alkalinization product. Boy... was I wrong.

At first, Ms. Segedie responded that she'd help me sort out my issues with the company. But, nothing ever came of it. Later, when things got worse (I have blood tests that indicate that the water filter I bough based on her reviews may be affecting both mine and my dog's health), I thought informing the group was like bringing Joseph Campbell's elixir back to the community... wouldn't they want to know? Nope. Segedie removed me from the group without warning and blocked me from even SEEING anything Mamvation-related on Facebook. All of my correspondence with her and AquaTru (the water filter maker) was erased from Facebook and they refused any/all contact. All because I asked to know what minerals (and what form they were in) was in the water filter that we'd spent over $300 on. The site that demands transparency blocked me for crusading for transparency.

I finally realized that it's likely about those affiliate links. This site frequently rates their affiliates as "best" in each category. (That's how they differ from Consumer Reports.) But, when I came for help because one of those affiliates was behaving poorly, I was summarily cut off. So much for "transparency" of the water I drink every day. I have none -- and when I asked, I was cut off by both companies and blocked from Mamavation. Do your own research of those disclosed affiliates. Another member of the private group, who doesn't seem to have been blocked mentioned that the Mamvation "best" pans, Xtrema brand, are made in China and they didn't want to buy anything made in China. I guess that wasn't enough to get them blocked... yet.
