I've been a Lokafyer working with LOKAFY since April 2022 providing services for their popular tour known as "Bodrum Like a Local", which caters mainly to cruise passengers visiting Bodrum.

Moreover, I have been a professional licensed tour guide approved by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism since 1974 and besides my various government posts as a teacher of English, teacher trainer, university lecturer, and business and trade commissioner at Turkish Consulates and Embassies in Jerusalem, Khartoum, and Melbourne for 41 years, guiding has always been my hobby and passion.

In the meantime, I have worked with numerous domestic Turkish and foreign travel and tourism companies and I have very closely observed and followed the changing trends in Turkish domestic and international travel, tourism and hospitality industries for the past 50 years.

After years of mass tourism, mass travel, and mass holidaying being dictated to the end consumers, there is a growing global trend on individualism, eco-culture, gastronomy, exploring indigenous cultures and their impact on global history, and tailor-made programs according to personal tastes and interests. This new way of travel has been getting more and more popular, especially with the young generations, and Lokafy seems to have captured the “local,” “personal,” and “customized” implications of this new trend.

That's the reason why I enjoy working with Lokafy and feeling that I'm a proud member of Lokafy family.

When Viator cancelled my private 4 hour tour of Old Town Dubrovnik at the last minute, I contacted Lokafy. I have used Lokafy several times prior and have been pleased. Lokafy responded quickly to confirm my request. A few days before the tour, Lokafy notified me of the guide, and 2 days before the tour the guide reached out to me to confirm and see if I had any special requests. On December 13, I met Rebecca S. at the starting point to begin one of my best experiences. Rebecca has so such enthusiasm, good Vibe, historic knowledge and friendliness; the visit was unforgettable! We walked the entire wall surrounding the OldTown to gain perspective. Along the way Becky pointed out beautiful buildings, described the importance of this fortified town and allowed me to absorb everything at my desired pace. We then ventured into the streets of this pedestrian only area, visiting churches, palaces, quaint squares and the Walk of Shame (from Game of Thrones). We grabbed a wonderful lunch at a restaurant she recommended.
I could not have ever expected such an enjoyable experience as with Becky!

I‘ve been working with Lokafy for 6 years now and so far everything has always worked out smoothly, 62 Cape Town City Walking Tours completed without any complaints.
Lokafy sends visitors details and interests, which the local Lokafyer then uses to prepare the itinerary for the tour.
Payment after the tour is completed to the Lokafyer is also very prompt. \All over a great company to be associated with.

What makes a great experience is me being able to show my experience of the city and giving them good information and seeing the client faces with a spark on their eyes and by the end of day seeing their satisfaction. Makes me feel happy

As I'm in my 60s I could share with travellers a lot of knowledge and experiences. I could answer all their questions about History, bussiness, politics, gastronomy...as well as I know my country very well so I could give some advice to do and enjoy not only in my city but also in my country. I'm sure they were glad when we finished the tour. They enjoyed my jokes and anecdoties . They felt comfortably as if they were hanging around with and old friend.

The company informs the tour guide in advance so he/she can be well prepared and liaise with the tourist on what places the tourist would like to visit.

Lokafy offer a personalise way to get to know places that are close to the heart of the locals, bridge the gab between travelers and locals.

I was assigned for a walking tour in Stuttgart 3 days before the D-day in English. During this 3-day I was doing my preparations, even reaching out to the travellers for their preferences to see during the tour.

On the d-day, it was snowing hard in the morning, that the travellers decided to cancel which they actually understand the money wouldn't be refunded. I reported the occasion to the company and asked if I would be compensated, the reply was I cannot be compensated because I was informed by the travellers that they cancelled it. I thought it was unfair as the company should consider other policy if the tour cannot be done due to force-majeure situation, either the payment be refunded to travellers or compensate the guide who has invested some of their time for preparations. 40€ perhaps means nothing for some people but hey it's quite a lot for other people.

I would not recommend this agency if you are visiting Germany or Stuttgart specially for doing tours. No wonder if the company got bad reviews. If only I knew about the poor reviews, I wouldn't have applied being a guide under this agency who is probably better-known as scammer.

If you are planning to go to Germany or Stuttgart, just go to Tourist Information Office because almost every town in Germany has it (and they even have website), just look at the letter "i" on a building nearby Marktplatz or Rathaus (City Hall) they can even provide you information in English and they can provide professional tour-guide in English for some tours. Or in big well-visited cities there will be walking-tours where you can join spontaneously and pay later in the end of the tour according to your satisfaction of the information delivered by the guides. It could save you some money to enjoy your holiday.

We booked a 3 hour walking tour of Venice. Was not expecting huge history lectures, just an orientation on how to get around and the location of a few major sites. We kind of got most of that, but we were expecting to be shown around by a "local". For us that would be an Italian from Venice, or at least someone who had lived there for a few years. What we actually got was a student from Turkey who was half way through a 2 semester university exchange, so she had lived in Venice for maybe 3 months max. She tried to use Google maps for navigation which is not ideal in Venice so we went the wrong way a few times. She was a charming person with quite good English, but would have been a far better guide in her home town of Ankara. I will not be using Lokafy again.

Lokafy sold us a private,tailor maid walking tour in Cartagena for 140 USD for famiky of 4.we asked for visit of historical sites but they assigned a unqualified bartender as a guide who wanted to take us to bars ans restaurants. We rejected to do a tour with such unprofessional guide but they never refunded our money, they dont even answer our calls. IT IS A SCAM, dont pay anything. JUST AN UPDATE, AFTER ALERTING EXPEDIA AND COUPLE OF ATTEMPTS, LOKAFY MANAGEMENT DECIDED TO LOOK AT AGAIN TO MY COMPLAINT. THEY HAVE FULLY REFUNDED OUR MONEY. OFF COURSE I WAS LEFT WITH HOURS OF FRUSTRATION, PHONE CALLS AND LOST HALF OF A DAY IN LOVELY CARTAGENA. ANYWAY IT IS GOOD THAT LOKAFY ACTED RESPONSIVELY

Guide didn’t turn up. Been promised a refund for over a month now. Having to make a complaint via my credit card. Appalling customer service. I would avoid.

I booked a local walking tour with this company through Get Your Guide in Liverpool. Communication was good prior to our tour and the local guide, Peter got in touch promptly and politely. We arranged a mutual place to meet and everything went smoothly. Peter was a great tour guide, really friendly and helpful and he took us to some places that we would never have thought of going to (like the Library) which was amazing inside. I think he went above and beyond his brief and we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon walking round Liverpool. I can't recommend Peter enough. Brilliant.
