I am delighted with the result the operation on both eyes just a week apart . I now have no requirement for contact lenses or varifocal spectacles. Freedom !

I am very grateful to Mr Ross and the entire team at Shawfair for their excellent care. The Spire Hospital is an outstanding facility. I was very anxious having the first eye done but the whole team in the Eye Department were very good at putting my mind at rest. By the time I went for the second session it was a much more relaxed experience. I am thrilled not to need glasses - or the expense of prescription sunglasses - after decades of wearing varifocals. I do have dry eyes 6 weeks later but am using euphrasia eye drops which definitely help and I am sure this situation will improve in time.
I am adding to this review 18 months on as things have changed a bit. My eyesight started to deteriorate over the months following the op and I now need reading glasses for the newspaper and for small print. My optician says I may also soon need glasses for driving if travelling long distances or at night. This is not the hoped for outcome. I went back to Mr Ross 8 months after the op to see what could be done and things can apparently be improved with further treatment by laser. Not only is this at a considerable extra cost but so was the consultation to discuss it. I opted instead to go an the NHS waiting list for free laser treatment but this will obviously be a long wait. Disappointed.

The professionalism of Mr Sanjay Mantry was without doubt a five-star performance and I would unhesitatingly recommend him to everyone. My vision is now perfect (I opted for toric mono-focal lenses which were bespoke built) and, after a life-time of wrestling with spectacles and contact lenses, I feel like I should have had this done 40-years ago !

To be blunt, I had anxiety issues and found the procedure slightly uncomfortable. In the 1960's I saw the Salvador Dali & Luis Buñuel short film "Un Chien Andalou"; the eyeball slicing image is one that stays with you for the rest of your life and it was responsible for my anxiety issue. If you've not seen the film - don't ! Read the reviews instead. Mr Mantry and his team helped me through my anxiety and I'm grateful for that. Well done, team !

Just over a month ago I had cataract surgery in both eyes carried out by Jonathan Ross. My lenses were replaced with multifocal lenses. I cannot recommend the procedure, the experience and the result highly enough. From the outset the consultation was friendly and informative, I was guided through the whole decision making process without any pressure as to the choice I should make, and the result is excellent. My particular concern had been the vision I would have post operation (i.e. the choice between long/short sight) and I have both. I could not be more delighted.

My husband and I have both had cataract surgery recently and our experience has been faultless,we would happily recommend this company.

If you want to have laser eye surgery then pick Dr Ross and his team. They clearly and patiently explain every step, making sure you are comfortable.

I had my surgery just 3 weeks after the initial consultation and 8 weeks on from surgey and I have better than 20/20 vision.

The surgery was quick and painless. The recovery has also been painless and I've not had any side effects.

Getting laser eye surgery at Laser Vision Scotland has been one of the best decisions I've made. I'm 28 and now won't need glasses until I hit reading glasses age in ~20 years.

After my last eye test, I knew my eyes were not right even though the optician said “no change” from the previous test. Wearing reading glasses all the time, struggling to read texts and emails. I didn’t want to go to the High St as friends who have been said it was all about price not care of your eyes. I found Laser Vision Scotland and the fact they operate out of Spire Private Hospital appealed to me and the costs are fixed. I booked in for eye test, which was free and very thorough. I then saw Dr Mantry who said I had early onset of cataract and also problem with cornea, none of this picked up in eye test 3 months earlier. I asked him if I could get rid of my glasses completely however, he explained due to cornea problem, not currently possible. He advised cataract operation on left eye first and due to cornea problem, he wanted to check my eye a week later before booking in my cataract operation on right eye.
I could not be happier with the results. I only now have to wear glasses for reading and computer work. I now have 20/20 vision for driving and colours are amazing.
Never at any point did I have any pain. I was very apprehensive and l had a lot of concerns however all questions answered politely and patiently. Everyone at Laser Vision Scotland from Dr Mantry down to the lady who brings you a sandwich and cup of tea after the operation were amazing. Everything about my experience exceeded my expectations and have no hesitation in recommending Laser Vision Scotland.

My name is Fred and this is just a quick update. It`s now been a full 12 months since I had my premium trifocal lenses fitted and I can honestly say it has been great - never worn glasses once since. Close up reading is a breeze and great for my work. Night vision is good & no problems with halos or glare. Do yourself a favour, if your thinking of lens replacement choose Laser Vision Scotland.

I regard myself as really quite a fit and health 87 year old and prize very highly the independence afforded me through the use of my car. When my failing sight threatened the loss of my driving license I feel so fortunate a friend persuaded me to see Mr Mantry at Laser Vision Scotland. Mr Mantry and his wonderful team were so kind and patient and carefully explained the plan to restore my vision. I found both surgery visits much more relaxing than I dared hope and I was astonished at my ability to read car number plates in the hospital car park.
Sooner to later something will require me to lose my little car, but thanks to the Laser Vision Team it will not be my eyesight. For now I can continue with my keep fit, walking and Zumba groups and of course my shopping trips. What you have done really has been life-changing for me. Thank so very very much.

On 18th April, at Spire Shawfield hospital, Mr Jonathan Ross performed his form of Laser magic on my eyes.
Having had my cataracts operations some three years ago, (with which I was absolutely delighted) I was very disappointed when, recently, my eyesight deteriorated to the extent that I couldn’t read a newspaper. My optician told me that I was on the legal borderline to drive!
However, my experience in the care of Mr Ross was totally positive.
The YAG laser procedure was completely pain free and the effect, on completion, was quite instantaneous. My eyesight, both long distance and closeup, was, immediately restored.
I asked Mr Ross when I should be able to drive my car. His answer was, ‘Right now!’
So far, three days after the procedure, I have experienced no side effects whatever.
I would have no hesitation whatever in recommending Jonathan Ross and Shawfield hospital for this procedure.

Last (8 and 15) August Mr Jonathan Ross carried out cataract lens replacement on my eyes at the Shawfair hospital, Edinburgh. The operations were not as successful as I had hoped they would be because I had an epiretinal membrane on my left eye causing considerable visual distortion. Mr Ross therefore referred me to a colleague who removed the membrane on 8 February 2019. The removal of the membrane appears to have been entirely successful. My vision is hugely improved and there is no distortion so far as I can detect. I want to thank Mr Ross for all that he did for me. I shall be happy to recommend friends to him if I get the opportunity

I recently underwent lens replacement/cataract surgery with Mr Ross. All went smoothly and my vision is transformed. Mr Ross is very friendly and approachable and I have no hesitation in recommending him to others. Thank you Mr Ross.

I recently underwent lens replacement surgery through Laser Vision Scotland under the care of Mr Sanjay Mantry. As a 50 year old who had been wearing contact lenses for pretty much all of his adult life, it was somewhat of a surprise when I developed a cataract in my right eye. I consulted with Mr Mantry and he explained the options available to me and most reassuringly this was done in a very calm, informed and relaxed manner, which totally put my mind at ease.

The end result having had lens replacement with multi focal lenses is fantastic and I couldn’t be more happy with the result. No more contact lenses or glasses. The procedure itself was quick and painless and whilst it would natural to have concerns about any surgery affecting your eyes, the Laser Vision Scotland team and Mr Mantry in particular, were fantastic both prior to, during and after the surgery. If you have the opportunity to have lens replacement surgery … I would strongly suggest you do it!

I had lens replacement surgery at Laser Vision Scotland. The whole process was straightforward and fuss free from the initial consultation to aftercare. My surgeon (Mr Ross), was friendly and easy to talk to. His calm approach eased my nerves about eye surgery and both procedures were very quick and handled with care and attention. The hospital is pleasant and the day ward is comfortable. My eyesight is great and although my eyes are still healing I am thoroughly enjoying life without glasses!

I am delighted to take this opportunity to share my experience of Laservision Scotland.
Through the expertise, care and kindness of Mr Mantry and the wonderful team at Laservision I am able not only to continue driving and painting and drawing but to do so without the use of glasses. For the first time since I was a short-sighted five year-old I can see the world without the need for spectacles. When I developed cataracts at the age of seventy I was advised by a friend to go to Laservision Scotland. Mr Mantry explained that their removal could also correct the myopia through the insertion of varifocal lenses.
What a life changer!
Sanjay and his team made me feel totally confident in their treatment of me, explaining every step in detail and answering all of my questions without hesitation, endeavouring to make me feel as relaxed as possible. At no time did I experience any discomfort, let alone pain and will never forget the first time I saw the world in focus after the operation. No more heavy lenses in spectacles pinching the bridge of my nose! All surplus to requirements now, thanks to the wonderful work of Mr Mantry and his team at Laservision Scotland. I can not recommend them highly enough.

A big thank you to Dr Ross and his wonderful team for my cataract surgery in January. Didn’t know what to expect with cataract surgery but details were well explained and I felt from the outset I was in safe hands. Can’t quite believe the difference. I’m still in awe of being able to see so much more clearly again and being able to drive again!

I have just had varifocal lenses placed in both eyes. The whole procedure was simple and completely painless. I now have perfect vision, and do not need to wear glasses!

I rarely describe something as life changing but having recently gone through the lens replacement procedure at Laservision I feel the need to express how happy I am with the process and the end result. Jonathan and the team at Shawfair looked after me very well and despite my initial reservations I can say that the process was not as traumatic as I expected and for someone such as myself with previously very poor eyesight who was struggling between contact lenses and glasses this has improved my life, I feel very fortunate to have had such a procedure available to me so once again thank you to the team who made this possible.

As I happily write my review of my lens replacement procedure at Laser Vision Scotland, I am doing so without the need for contact lenses or glasses. What a joy!
I had good vision in my youth and early to mid adult life , but over the last fifteen years or so I had become increasingly dependent on glasses and contact lens to allow me to function.
After considerable research into lens replacement surgery, I asked my optometrist to refer me to Mr Johnathan Ross at Laser Vision Scotland`s facility at Shawfair Hospital. I have been extremely pleased with my choice, as Mr Ross and the team have looked after me perfectly throughout the entire process.
Pre-operative assessment was thorough and Mr Ross was professional and clear on expected outcome.
The surgery was carried out in an uncluttered, modern operating theatre, where highly- professional staff assisted with the procedure. I felt confident in those entrusted with my care. Whilst I didn`t enjoy the actual procedure, it was short-lived and pain-free. I had no post-operative discomfort, and could see well on the morning after surgery ( same for both eyes).
I am very happy to recommend Mr Ross and the Laser Vision Team at Shawfair Hospital.
