Excellent service. Quick, efficient, friendly and professional, despite trying circumstances (my garden is badly overgrown and the engineer had to contend with brambles as well as drains). As a bonus he also fixed my back door which was jammed. I will definitely be using Lanes again if I have any need of work in the future.

On Sunday 4 May 2025 a man in Lanes Group uniform, claiming he worked on behalf of Thames Water, entered my family-run restaurant in Richmond during peak dinner service.

• No ID, no appointment: He refused to show identification or an official work order.
• Intimidating presence: At well over six feet tall, he carried a long metal prong. He placed the tool on the floor, lifted our grease-trap lid with both hands, took photos on his phone and then resumed holding the prong.
• Verbal abuse & threats: He repeatedly shouted that our trap was “too full” (false) and declared, “Thames are coming down tonight and you’re going to get shut down.” Each time my 60-year-old father tried to answer, he was talked over and mocked.
• False allegations: Our grease trap was professionally installed and signed off by Thames Water on 01/04/2025; we clean it every Sunday (records available).
• Evidence secured: We hold HD CCTV, still images, written sign-off, weekly cleaning logs and WhatsApp messages from Thames Water (Ref 01113528) confirming the visitor had no authority.

We immediately filed a complaint with Lanes Group’s customer team and copied Thames Water. As of today we have received no meaningful response or apology. We are now escalating to Lanes Group’s CEO, the press and the Metropolitan Police.

I would caution any business owner to insist on formal ID and written authority before allowing Lanes Group personnel on site. Based on this incident and the absence of remedial action, I cannot recommend Lanes Group and have awarded the lowest rating permitted.

All statements above are drawn from documented, time-stamped evidence in my possession.

Avoid like the plague! This company were commissioned to carry out a CCTV survey of my external drains after a blockage problem I had.

The CCTV survey cost over £500 (yes, I was overcharged dramatically by this company) and the 2 engineers who attended were present for about 15 mins. After carrying out their "survey" they told me my drain was shared with my neighbour and therefor was the responsibility of the water company and therefore could go no further.

The water company attended with their own CCTV equipment and confirmed (they even showed me the video footage there and then) that the inforamtion I had been provided by Lanes for Drains was FALSE and that they had obviously not carried out a proper survey.

Despite complaining, and the fact that my drain issue remains a domestic "emergency" I had to wait over 5 days for the 'formal survey report' which confirmed that the survey carried out by Lanes for Drains was totally inadequate and supplied me with incorrect information about my drains! The engineers are clearly incompetent.

I have given Lanes for Drains an opportunity to return to complete the job or give me a refund, and they are refusing to do either. Confirming that their customer service is as shoddy as their workmanship.

Engineer Andy turned up on time, told us exactly what action he was taking, and carried out as explained. He was very polite, tidy and also had a great sense of humour. A credit to your company. If we have any further drainage issues we will definitely use you again, and also recommend you to friends and neighbours. Thanks again

I would give no stars if able to do so. We had a major blockage of our drains on the Thursday prior to Good Friday. My insurance company instructed this company to attend. The man who came did nothing to try and unblock the drain, making excuse after excuse as to why he needed 2 men to do it. I would need to sign a waiver for bringing the jets through the house, to blast the blockage. That "technically " I had working toilets as the waste had not started to overflow and he had blown toilets up before causing £1000 worth of damage. He left me with a blocked drain over a BH weekend with 2 elderly parents and 2 children in the house. He told me he would fill in a report for the insurance company and someone may be out the following week. The next morning, human excrement / toilet tissues, was spewing all over my back yard. How could a so called drainage company leave customers in this state is beyond me. On calling my insurance they had never received a report from the man who attended. His equipment hadn't been emptied from a previous job. He spilt sewage all over my front driveway from a machine that hadn't been emptied. I would avoid at all costs.

Excellent service that really helped us in a critical situation - my disabled mother who lives alone had multiple faulty drains and toilets. Lanes for drains were incredibly responsive, identified and fixed the problems and were great value for money. We really appreciate your rapid, knowledgable and friendly service -‘thanks so much to you all, an ace team.

We’ve had an excellent experience with the whole company, including polite and friendly on the phone and with the surveying and excavation teams who have come out. Mark and Dave from Manchester have been great today, digging out and repairing our drains/gully and leaving everything really tidy afterwards. It was an awkward job and they kept me informed throughout. Very friendly and professional guys who seemed to take pride in doing a good job. Thank you so much, Mark and Dave.

Lanes sent out Kelby from their Ipswich branch recently to inspect our drains and he was BRILLIANT!
He was polite, friendly and informative, a credit to the Company. They have since jet-washed the drains and the foul odour problem is solved. Thank you.

Our severely blocked kitchen drain was eventually remedied by Lance & George. Arrived on time to theminute, ever mindful gaining sewage access amongst my wife's plants! Process was courteous & professional at all times, unavoidably messy, but kitchen completely cleaned & restored, much appreciated. Under 2 hours start to finish....

I was stuck in traffic and Frank (Bristol office) waited for 45minutes for me to arrive! He diagnosed and fixed the problem within half an hour even washing down my outside spaces with water and fairy liquid! He was polite and very efficient- thank you 😊

Brilliant job. Camera diagnosis. Scale removal using some spinning chain type device. Jetting. Debris removal. All done super-professionally, by a friendly guy. Totally resolved the situation. They asked for payment up-front, but it was worth every penny, and then some.

Charlie Ewart arrived at 6.30 pm to sort out my home's blocked drains (internal) and he could not have been more polite, considerate, helpful, and professional. He was thorough in locating the problem, made me feel at ease about this, and sorted with the minimum of fuss - and no mess whatsoever. I am most grateful.

These guys are brilliant after going all over Christmas with the most vile smell & our Housing Trust failing us, by not putting the order through until the New Year, to clear the drains, it was a relief to get a lorry turn up a few days earlier than originally planned.. we are now smell free ~ thanks to Lanes.

Turned up quicker than expected on a snowy Saturday evening and cleared two blockages super quick. Very nice professional guy. Highly recommended.

Came out, charged for inspection and said there was a twisted pipe..
Came out, charged over £1000, dug up pipe and filled in, very nice. Went away and still have a blockage, which they want to charge another £400.
So, blockage not fixed as required, yet willing to keep charging as they don't have a clue
