Natasha C ran a virtual assembly for 40 tutor groups today (over 900 students) about Kooth. I have had nothing but positive feedback from a number of staff and students about the session - how informative and well delivered it was. Staff were particularly happy with the delivery being focused on the service benefits.

Shelly ran a Kooth assembly for our school. It was informative, engaging and gave the children lots of important information. Shelly provided additional information that was requested by the children and did this very promptly so they could share it with parents at the end of the day.,

I struggle with mental health a lot and Kooth has made me realise that there are many other people out there who are experiencing a similiar thing as me so it really has helped me to understand how i can deal with these emotions .

Kooth provides free mental health support from experts, providing a safe space for many young people in need of support.
All of the wonderful Team members help to keep the space safe and welcoming for everybody.
The site allows young people to connect in a safe environment, tacking loneliness which is a struggle for a lot of people with mental health or emotional struggles.
At the same time there is opportunity for a 1 to 1 chat with a counsellor, as a one off or on more regular basis. This means sessions are personalised to the individual.

I want to give a huge shout out to Lesley. I have worked with Lesley for the past 3 months. And she's been very patient, calm and understanding with what we would discuss in the sessions. I had 12 sessions with Lesley, and I know some of the sessions were not easy because of my struggles but Lesley always did her best. Thank you Lesley : )

We introduce Kooth to our Year 7 students each year and this is done through a Google Meet with one of the Kooth team. The team are so skilled at explaining the service to the students and able to answer their questions with care. This year we have also had a virtual coffee morning event where Kooth explained the service to families. We are very grateful for the support that Kooth provides to our students and look forward to continuing to work with them.

I made a kooth account a year ago and i wanted to login to it i put my login details in and it didn't i tried everything and it still didn't let me in and i had to make an new account and making a new account is an absolutely pain in the butt they say it's ''anonymous'' yeah right. They asked for my Gender my location and my minority that's not anonymous so they should just stop lying if you want people to come to your service have professionals but not lie about it. Awful site do not recommend could give 0 star if I could.

Virtual assembly presented to approx 340 students in year 10 and 11.
The information given was useful but nothing that the students didn't already know.
Now that the students have had the assembly we will be signposting students to Kooth to help with the mental health and wellbeing.

Horrible Service!!I used to post but now I only use the Journal feature and I don't bother talking to the kooth 'professionals'. I appreciate their commitment to kooth.. but most kooth 'professionals' I talked to were very underwhelming. They sound like those GPs who dismiss your pain unless it's extremely severe. So much for a mental healthcare site. And plus these kooth professionals talk like robots/ai even ai does a better job at consoling than these people!
And the chat queues are long af and very disappointing. I sent the people message and they respond with some articles like it helps

I spoke to Leo who was so so nice, we did a live chat and they were very helpful and even after the chat they’ve been so lovely in the message’s section and I feel so safe talking to them
A few months ago i suffers 3 bereavements 2 were family and 1 my best friend. through my school i was directed towards the company Kooth, through there’s support and guidance they helped me significantly by reducing the independence of dealing with the situation by myself. i’m diagnosed with depression and Cyclothymia disorder. i used to often feel insecure and insignificant that was before i found my safe space with Kooth, i have a lot to thank them for and highly recommend to those who struggle in silence and even those who are willingly out about there struggles. today i ran into corrina and we had a wonderful conversation i couldn’t feel anymore myself and safe around her. thank you for your support.

Today, I tried to use the online chat system. I have been feeling horrific recently and I thought having a chat would help me at least a bit. I was then asked if I was from where I said I was, I said no as it wasn’t possible to put down my city. I was then told that Kooth didn’t have a contract to work in my city which I was baffled by. I don’t know if I’m being unreasonable with this review but my issue is something that should be looked into in my opinion.

As a social prescriber supporting people to manage and improve their mental health and wellbeing I have found KOOTH to be an invaluable service to support young people.
The safety and security of the site is great and I know the young people who I may signpost to them will be well looked after.

Be careful on this website!!
Leaning on personal experience - I reached out to Kooth after it was recommended at a school assembly. I decided to open up about the abuse I was experiencing at home for the first time. My stepdad was abusive, but my mum was kind. When I shared this with a so-called "trained counsellor" on Kooth, their response was shocking and utterly unacceptable. The counsellor told me, "You are lucky, some people have two nasty parents but you only have one." This outrageous statement invalidated my experience and made me feel even more isolated and confused. Instead of providing support, this counsellor trivialized my abuse and made me question whether seeking help was even worth it. I was so gobsmacked I took a screenshot of which I still have!!
As a result, I was deterred from reaching out for help for another YEAR. It was only after this period of suffering in silence that I found the courage to speak to another adult, who thankfully took me seriously and provided the help I needed. The delay caused by Kooth’s irresponsible handling of my case could have severely affected my well-being.
When I reported this incident to Kooth, the response I received was wholly inadequate. While they issued an apology and claimed they would investigate the matter, it felt like a hollow gesture and I never received the outcome. Their assurance that this was not their usual approach did nothing to mitigate the harm caused by their counsellor’s reckless comment. This experience reveals a profound lack of training and sensitivity among Kooth's staff, which poses a significant danger to vulnerable youths seeking support.
Their reply :
" I am sending the following response on behalf of Dr. Lynne Green - Chief Clinical Officer at Kooth. ----------------- Dear ****, I am so sorry to hear of your experience and can understand why you are feeling so disheartened by our response to you. What you have described is not at all in line with our usual approach towards the many young people who come to us for help - far from it. As the Clinical Leader of Kooth, I can assure you that we will be looking into this further to try and understand why/how this happened. Whilst I cannot change your specific experience, I can certainly do my very best to make sure that this never happens again. I understand that you are now speaking with another member of our team and that this has been more positive; however, if there is anything else we can do to make amends, please do reach out. Lastly, I want to reassure you that we absolutely care about you and all of the young people who come to us for support and once again, I am sorry that the way you were ‘spoken’ to did not reflect that. Best Wishes, Dr. Lynne Green, Chief Clinical Officer, Kooth"
In my opinion, Kooth is a perilous platform for young people in need of mental health assistance. The counsellors are evidently not equipped to handle sensitive situations with the care and professionalism required. A single misguided interaction can cause immense harm and delay critical support, as my case clearly demonstrates.
I strongly urge anyone considering using Kooth to seek help elsewhere. This organization failed me in my time of need, and I fear it could do the same to others. Until Kooth can prove that they have significantly improved their training and support systems, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend them to anyone.

As a business owner of The Specialist Mental Health Nurse, I find Kooth's news letter and support/resource invaluable.
It allows me to look for resources and sign post families and patients in the right direction.

Kooth is a great online service to help support young people. It is easily accessible and can form part of a young person's mental health tool kit

I used Kooth when I used to be in school in 2018-2019. I had the pleasure of having supportive counsellors.
However, there were times where I would not be able to message a certain counsellor after accidentally missing an appointment. In other words, it felt like I had been blocked as I had no way of contacting the counsellor. This happened a few times with a couple of counsellors.
A few of their counsellors feel like robots with the same generic answers. It would be nice if their counsellors were more human.
Towards the end of me using their service, I used to wait an hour for an appointment (the standard time) to only be kicked at the waiting queue again. Meaning I would have to wait for 2 hours to speak to someone, only to be kicked at the end of the queue again.
This was a constant thing which led me to deleting my account as their service was unusable, this was never an issue. But progressively the website got worse in 2020 forward.
I wasn't able to speak to my preferred counsellors and I could not receive the help I wanted.
Legally they have to hold onto data, they also have to delete your account upon request, but they just deactivate your account. They don't give you a digital or physical copy of your own counselling records when you request it.

Shelley has presented three PSHE days for our school, educating students on managing stress and self care. Our students find the Kooth app very easy and informative to use and many are on the waiting list to begin the online therapy with counsellors. Thank you again Shelley.
