Zero stars review Don't use. Calm staff did used to give advice that the staff shouldn't of done so over the telephone, via on-line chat and WhatsApp. However going "we" in a high pitched voice doesn't help. How can we help these people argue. These people should know. It's mean't to be a listening service however if you don't state your suicidal then the staff will end the chat. Once I did state it, I was crying my eyes out. I was told you need to calm down these people are not professionals at all. Don't have any empathy at all. Once I put a complaint in about it I was blocked via phone call.

Unfortunately I have to say the same as other people. I've now had three really bad experiences on this webchat. I did have one good one about two years ago, which prompted me to use them again, but I found them utterly useless each subsequent time. All they do is tell you to go to your GP and get talking therapies, send you links to useless websites and don't want to actually talk to you about your problem. Either that or they actively tell you you're not suicidal so they can't talk to you, even though you may be but just haven't said so. I remember typing out my situation for them to understand the background, having said at the start I was feeling down, and they said, we can't advise you on this because you're not suicidal so we have to end the chat. I felt totally humiliated and it's not going to help people who might either not say how they are feeling or who didn't k now they had to be literally at a cliffs edge before contacting them. People need to talk to prevent suicides for goodness sakes before they get to that stage, I

Was given their phone number by my bank. Rang it and spoke to someone who wasn't that empathetic and only allotted me to talk for just over 26 minutes, then my allotted time was up and she told me this. Abysmal service. I rang The Samaritans after on 116 123 - free call, not listed on your phone bill. I spoke to them for nearly 50 minutes, well trained too. I felt much better.
N.B. If you have some time, go to Companies House and look at their company details, there are what looks like Campaign Against Living Miserably and also another company Campaign Against Living Miserably Ltd.
Loads of directors, and then a list of Directors that have resigned who have the word Doctor attached to their names. The company details look as though it is based in London and then resigned directors from Manchester.

I was offered a job interview as a part time advisor on weekends only, but then had it withdrawn because I have full time job during the weekdays which would not have interfered with the role i was about to interview for. This was not highlighted in their job advert that you weren’t allowed an additional full time job. They told me it’ll be too many hours for me to work in a week - well isn’t that up to me? I’m an adult not a child. don’t Police Officers, NHS workers, MP’s etc work around 50 hours per week so who are they to tell someone that working 50 hours per week is too much for a person. I then put in two complaints over 10 days ago and haven’t heard anything back. Very poor
Waste of time
No wonder they have bad reviews "Go contact your GP or 111" rather than give you support and services for helping you when these services are failing you. I told them I could not cope and it was braking me and they didn't seem to listen. Awful service.

Told me to call 111 then ended the chat 10 minutes into the 30 minute chat window.
You will not know who you are talking to so there is no accountability to actually help.
The worker I spoke to couldn't have cared less and I got the impression they actually found it amusing in a dark, sadistic way.
Stay away if you want to stay optimistic about treatment and help.
After experiencing their service myself, the other 1 star reviews are very believable.
There is no doubt that have killed the hope of recovery in many vulnerable individuals. They certainly did that to me.
Do not be fooled by the money they have put into their advertising and website design. The product is terrible.
On a lighter note I found their articles comforting and more informative.
Contact them if you want to be patronised.
AWFUL, AVOID
Robotic, careless volunteers who, the moment they find out you're not actively attempting to off yourself, will send you a copy/paste to end the conversation. Just like that. My response, when asked if I was suicidal, was "I don't know", not "no", and boom. Copy/paste go-away message. Awful service. Don't bother. Either go to hospital or just stay at home and suffer it's easier.
DON'T BOTHER!!!!!!!!! its a struggle session for the woke, not support when you're in crisis
I contacted then via webchat in a bad enough situation as it is,
i'm then asked why i am how i am (with facts (with the wider world issues causing the problems)),
i'm then told what i said was offensive (no, it was factual and therefore her second hand offense was irrelevant), then told i wanted a political discussion
(no i wanted help which they clearly can't give if they're that easily offended by facts and having their questions answered)
they they kept turning it into a struggle session and then decided i was contacting them about X........i wasn't then they cut the chat off
THEY DONT HELP IN ANY WAY!!!!!!
Don’t waste your time
Webchat contact made, told them I was experiencing thoughts of ending my own life. They didn’t listen and just sent generic chatbot responses before complaining that they ‘needed to end the chat as I didn’t want signposting’ when I had said at the start I didn’t want signposting I just wanted someone to listen. Webchats are apparently 40 minutes but they told me I had been talking too long after 18. I’ve used these guys a few times and always had an awful experience- I’m starting to think the role attracts sociopaths or something

I was literally typing a response to a question being asked and it took just over a minute and as I was still typing i got a message asking if I was still here and then not even a second later the chat ended told the chat so I wasn’t given enough time to respond to my original question which understandable is difficult to but in words, I then was told the chat had closed as they hadn’t heard anything but I was clearly typing but oh well clearly got some people that are absolutely useless am just glad I wasn’t planning on killing myself but if I had the response given to me in the chat and the way the advisor reacted would have made me end my life do better call yourself a suicide prevention help line the way you act you’d probably help individuals kill themself. Sort it out and maybe remove individuals who clearly don’t care about an another person mental wellbeing.

I was made to feel like a burden or like I was doing something wrong simply by calling. I went from crying when I phoned to full blown panic attack after her irritated tone, disinterest and lack of empathy for anything I had to say. I then told her I'll hang up because she's clearly annoyed and she just said okay

Calm has become dangerous and useless if you’re not suicidal then forget it. This will ironically cause more suicides, talking is extremely important and Calm was great then you could off load your worries.

The worker sounds like robot and reply so slowly and doesn’t sound like they care about me at all. disappointed. Why make a service to help when you don’t wanna help. Seem like there’s only one person anwyays.
Appalled by this service
Appalled by this service. Absolutely no help at all. What’s the point of the chat if they can’t help you find much needed services that can help you not end your life?
I kept saying I needed help finding alternate housing due to a dangerous neighbour and my ptsd as I was afraid the situation would spiral and lead to me being suicidal. They kept saying they “couldn’t advise”. I’d also explained I’d reached out to my local crisis team who were useless. They also wouldn’t even talk through my feelings.

I am RAW with Rage at the first time experience after seeing an advert by OMAZE and the millionaires homes that sell tickets to enter with the one off chance of becoming a millionaire overnight.
I really believe it is something that OMAZE for a start should open its own investigation as to who CALM is And why they are praising themselves by donating 6 figure sums to a " puppet charity ".
I ask you to look at thier glossy website.
They do not mention the factual truth of what they do .
So I will inform you as I was repeatedly told by thier support phone line.
We don't not provide named support operators.
We are only here to inform you of other organisations and to listen to you .
We only offer you 20 minutes before we will close the call down.
I ask you to then put yourselves into the shoes of others like myself who are chronically ill with not just mental health bit also complex physically needs too.
I am determined today to bring thos organisation to the Charities Ombudsman Services and seek them to now investigate what I can only describe as a Scam and an outright TRAP in trusting your sanity and integrity to these cold as ice phone operators.
I agree and must stress as others have expressed .
CALM is DANGEROUS and a High Risk to those with chronic health needs and i would suggest you do everything to AVOID calling them .
The truth of CALM is they are a puppet charity pretending to save and rescue ill people by hiding what they actually do .
What they do may be beneficial to those just starting to deal with MH issues but definitely not those with long term and chronic health needs.
And I cannot over emphasise that by turning to them it may have a devastating immediate effect on your mind and thought patters mared by negativity.
I challenge thier cold policies of their people taking your call being nameless .
They claim it's for security and safety .
I don't accept that at all.
I ask thier Founder if he ,himself is aware of how vulnerable people are being talked down too by thier staff and causing waves of confusion , alarm and a deeper sense of distress.
Please 🙏 be careful 🧐, , you have 1 chance at life and you are valued .

I won't be calling again
I won't be calling again. I wasn't told it was only a 20 minute call firstly. I talked and was really anxious but didn't feel supported by the person. I heard noises of the headset moving and asked about this and they said they didn't move it. It felt triggering to me since I'm gaslighted by my family and this felt very much like that. After I finiished talking she said she had to leave it there. I felt worse than when I started the call and didn't feel supported at all. The women needs training in how to talk to people going through crisis.

poor service, seem more interested in how many "famous" people they have supporting their site than they do about actually helping anyone

At a time of crisis find another place for help, I am as I write this struggling with some serious issues. After a 20 minute wait to speak to some one who just did not seem willing to help.
I was in a situation where I wasn't able to be absolutely specific about the issues I was actually struggling with, but the person I called seemed insistent that I talk about it. Apart from the fact that I thought the details were not pertinent to my depression, it was also largely innapropriate to go there on a call.
The worst thing is I could actually sense the lack of concern or empathy before she dropped the call. Raising a complaint does require that I supply an email address, which might have been ok but there was a warning on the feedback page that for helpline and webchat complaints my details will need to be shared to a 3rd party - I think that says it all, someone is probably treating this as a business, hence this review.
Please heed my words or if you have come here after seeking help there, remember there are other people or services that do actually care. Calm zone - shame on you.
