New style Kenco is disgusting
We have been drinking Kenco Rich Roast for years the new Kenco rich roast is disgusting & leaves sludge in your mug. Please bring back the original product.
Dreadful Coffee
Dreadful coffee! Like so many others, we have been drinking Kenco for an absolute eternity. We just couldn't understand why it tasted and looked awful these past few weeks. Having Googled it, we now understand the problem. No more Kenco being bought in our house. In fact, we are going to dump the 190g jar that remains. We just can't look at the rim of scum that has become a feature of every cup we make now. Bye, bye, Kenco! You used to provide us with a lovely cuppa but alas, no more.
Just opened a new jar of Kenco decaf
Just opened a new jar of Kenco decaf . I noticed that the jar and label were different but assumed it was the same coffee. How wrong I was . Absolutely horrible taste doesn’t even taste like coffee. I have been buying this for years but not anymore.
Glad to find these reviews
Glad to find these reviews - I've been drinking Kenco Smooth at home for over 10 years and always enjoyed it (alongside an occasional bean to cup brew). Recently I found a long-lasting bitter taste that lasted hours - I wondered if I was ill or changed something drastically. Eventually singled out the Kenco (which I'd also noticed had changed consistency). An email to their customer services (in fairness quick to respond clearly), a chatGPT search on 10% microgrinds led me here and whilst disappointing, there is comfort in being in a collective. I've no idea what 'long term user panel of Kenco' they asked - it's terrible! If anyone finds an alternative please post (AI suggested Douwe Egberts Pure gold or M&S instant gold...). 1st world problems - but just a bit dumb on Kenco's behalf!?
Please change back to the old recipe
Please change back to the old recipe! It now has a slightly bitter taste, it has also started to leave my teeth with dark staining which I have never had before. By adding a small percentage of ground coffee to the instant coffee you've changed the previous palatable coffee into an unpleasant drink that leaves a gritty residue in your cup. Not only have you reduced the volume per jar you've decreased the flavour too. What were your taste testers thinking!
What the heck have Kenco done to their…
What the heck have Kenco done to their coffee? As a Kenco drinker for more years than I can remember, the recent change to the recipe is a disaster. It's bitter and leaves an "ashtray" taste in the mouth, it also leaves a scum and sludge in the cup. If this is the future of Kenco, then it's goodbye from me.
Kenco website not taking complaints and the coffee is crap now too
Smooth coffee leaves a distinct sediment in my cup, i tried complaining on they're website, but its deliberately set up not to accept, i pressed the submit button and it just goes backwards, probably deliberate, but no worries I'll not be buy this crap again, shame cos it used to be nice once, but no doubt profit before customers, it's become a crap product of poor quality at an expensive price
Ruined!
I thought it was just me, but now I see everyone is complaining about the changes to Kenco Smooth Coffee.
It now tastes far too bitter, like adding a couple of shots of espresso to it. As for the sludge in the bottom of the cup afterwards, I would consider that a bad image for the drinker to know they were consuming that same sludge.
I have drunk Kenco smooth for years because of its superior taste, but now you've ruined the quality I have come to expect from Kenco, and I'll be looking for something else, never to return.
As for making it more expensive by shrinking the size? Well, poor quality for more profit... Bad move!
Find who signed off on the change and fire them.
I have drunk Kenco for years and they have ruined it. And everyone knows it is probably some snivelling little number cruncher who’s found a cheaper way to manufacture the product by introducing “the dust” that everyone’s moaning about far less the hideous taste. Whoever authorised this and signed off on it should be identified and fired.

Have been drinking Millicano Intense granules for years. It came in a new tin this week and is now a powder. It is disgusting and I am going to have to find another brand to drink. Kenco what have you done?
Why fix something that isnt broke
Why fix something that isnt broke? What have you done to your coffee? It took me ages to find a great tasting instant granule coffee. Even your de caf is powdered now. Both leave a bitter taste and sludge in the bottom of the cup. So dissappointed .
Not a change for the better
This has been my favourite coffee for years,Kenko what have you done.It tastes awful doesn't mix properly and there's sludge at the bottom of the cup. Please go back to the original recipe because I won't be buying it ever again.
Why change something that previously tasted so Delicious…
I have just googled to see if I am right about the Kenko coffee. I have been a loyal customer buying the red jar of Kenko coffee for years now, being the only instant coffee I will drink. I knew they had changed the taste it tastes horrible and makes me quite heady giving me withdrawal symptoms as always drinking the other. I have always loved the taste of the original jar of Kenko. The other tastes so weak and bitter and just awful. I have had to start buying the blue jar as I can not stand drinking the other. Glad to see I am not alone in other people thinking the same thing. If every one likes the taste Why change it, it doesn't make sense. I'm afraid a lot of customers will be lost now.
Ohhh KENCO....NO!
NO KENCO! JUST NO!!
What HAVE you done to my favourite coffee?
Kenco Rich apparently now comes with fresh road sweepings! 🤮
I now need to rinse my mouth out after every mug....indeed frequently after every mouthful.... if I pause for more than a moment.
Judging by the comments I've seen, not only here, but across the Internet, you've made a huge mistake with this product change.
You've also removed 10g of coffee from the jar which in instant coffee terms is approx 5 tsp, Although in this case a blessing, it makes the pretty foul aftertaste even more bitter given the extortionate price of a jar now. 😕
As others have said, it makes the coffee taste cheap and nasty and as that's the case, I for one will be voting with my feet. If I'm buying cheap, I'm paying cheap. Supermarket own brand under £3 for a full 200g that tastes as good if not better due to the lack of road grit is now a preference
If it ain't broke don't try to fix it
If it ain't broke don't try to fix it! Looks and tastes awful after the recent change.
DEFINITELY NOT A CHANGE FOR THE BETTER
This was my favourite coffee I’ve been buying for years. Just now replenished my stock only to find that this has changed dramatically. It is now much stronger, much blacker, has a slimy froth on top when you pour the water on and, if you can even finish your mug, leaves a very unpleasant black sludge which tastes even worse. That’s the last I will buy.

Our coffee is leaving a sludge at the bottom of cup and a bitter aftertaste. We have been drinking Kenco for years and looked forward to our coffee... what a shame. Dreadful change to it. Will be changing brands.
Kenco Coffee
Been drinking Kenco coffee for years. What on earth have they done to it? It’s absolutely disgusting now and we won’t be buying it again unless they revert back to the original recipe.

Need to change the recipe back or I won't be buying again bought 2 jars recently £6 each and it tastes like cheap coffee very unpleasant.
Do Kenko even taste their own coffee?
Do Kenko even taste their own coffee? How the recent change to Kenko Gold has been allowed I dont know. It isnt nice to drink anymore, with 3/4 of a jar going in the bin rather than drinking it.
