Two items were approved for return. Three weeks after they received the return I had to follow up with numerous phone calls and emails regarding the credit. After notifying them that I was planning to turn the charge over to my credit card for dispute in 3 days time, I received an inadequate explanation for the delay with no promised resolution date. I turned it over and was eventually reimbursed.

I was happy with this company until I got shoddy merchandise , the size of the blazer was listed as a 2x , when I received and put it on , it looked like a clown suit , with the sleeves so long it looked ridiculous and it fit like A 3x.
I bought it for 50% off and did not realize they stated no returns on this item .
I now realize that what they did was , received a batch of faulty merchandise and instead of not selling it , they decided to make a quick buck off fits customers .
I loved this company but will now never deal with them again .

Peterman Has Run Out of Money
I wish I had read some of the reviews here prior to making two purchases. I returned both orders, and have been waiting for the refunds for several weeks past the company's stated policy of two weeks. Clearly, the once venerable mail-order house is having cash-flow problems, often the first big lurch towards Chapter 11 and reorganization. I, too, was told that the company's refund mechanism was being fixed. Such hogwash! The probable reason its operating capital has tanked because of the crap being churned out by the slave-labor factories it contracts with in China . . . customers don't the "merch," and return it. Peterman screwed itself. I'd rather purchase a more expensive and better-made American product than the supposedly deeply-discounted stuff produced overseas from a country that hates us. Peterman can save itself, but it must come clean with its loyal customer base.
I’ve bought from J Peterman for years
I’ve bought from J Peterman for years. Ther quality is very good. Just be careful with sizing. The only problem is making a return. You’ll never hear from them again they owed me money for close to a year. They promise it’s coming but never arrives.
Stay away- worst company
Stay away- worst company. Returned a dress in May within refund policies and still waiting for my refund. As noted in other reviews AI canned responses and nothing else. Stay away- they are thieves!
Orders Never Ship, No Customer Service
I placed several orders that never shipped. No response from customer service except canned questions or replies. It’s like there’s no one actually working there anymore. Really sad to see such a deep and apparently permanent declined in a once great company. They’ve lost more customers and not just myself.
Have used jpeterman for maybe two…
Have used jpeterman for maybe two decades...anyway a long time. It appears that it is finally a truly failing company...the last straw for me was ordering two moleskin shirts...they used to sell real English ones, but no longer. One shirt never arrived and their new Al said it wasn't backordered either and gave no explanation why it wasn't sent!
The second shirt was sent and turned out to be made in China with harsh thin material, not moleskin by any stroke of the imagination, not even worth $40, much less the Peterman price.....grotesquely overpriced!...save yourself the trouble with this once useful company: just go to Walmart and buy a nice cotton shirt for $30-odd dollars if you want a Chinese shirt. So I'm trying for a refund...we'll see how long it takes.
No longer a returning customer anymore
I have been a long time customer, and they used to be great in customer service. Not the case any more, I am surprised that a company such as J Peterman has sunken so low. Their return policy and subsequent refund is unbelievably bad. After reviewing other customer reviews, I can see I am in for a very long wait for my credit. I will never again purchase from them and will caution family and friends to avoid purchasing anything again.

Order fulfillment problems
I am a long-time customer of J Peterman clothing. I like their items. But I have been trying to get a problem resolved for nine months, since before last Christmas. Items are mislabeled in their warehouse, so they send the wrong thing. They always assure me that they will research it and resolve it. But that is where is ends. The customer service people are nice, but the problem is higher up with whomever makes decisions about the remedy. Nothing is fixed.
8 months & still no refund money…
I have been waiting for a refund since January 2025. They responded once that they would refund but they never did, they have NOT RESPONDED to further inquiries I made contacting them.
Waiting 5 months for a refund!
Along with other reviewers, I have been waiting for a refund since February and it is now August. I have received letters (April 10) from the CEO, Tim Peterman regarding the breakdown of their return system integration, but still no refund. Calls to Customer Service are literally a waste of time. The service center is in the Philippines and they say all they can do is email the main office that is responsible. It is time for legal action. I would strongly recommend not making a purchase if there is the slightest possibility you may need to return an item.
No Refund Since February 6, 2025!
I returned a pair of light weight wide leg trousers on Jan. 25, 2025. (Return Request RMA#OKQB2531) They admit receiving them on February 6. I have called EVERY MONTH since -to inquire about my refund. I have yet to receive it - BUT I have been assured that "Rest assured, we will send you an email confirmation the moment your refund is processed. If there’s anything else we can do to assist you, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to provide you with the exceptional service you deserve." "Exceptional service," indeed! I am also asked for "patience." I have none!!!! I used to purchase a lot of clothing from J. Peterman - but now I WILL BUY NOTHING FROM THEM. I'm sure they are going out of business.
Due a refund?
Just be sure that if you are due a refund that you start with “I’ll be looking into taking legal action”. After 3 months of being reasonable, that’s what it took.
Do not purchase from this company
I really would not even give them one star, is there a minus minus minus star? Their refunds are REDICULOUS, quite honestly I think they are on the brink of being a SCAM! They might even be on the brink of closing down, they do not have the money for refunds TERRIBLE! They say they are trying to organize their company don't believe them, don't make that purchase, you will be sorry!

Buyer beware. I have been ordering off and on from them for years and their sizes have always been on point. I ordered the party of the season dress for a wedding and checked their size chart. Felt confident ordering the small 4-6. The dress arrived marked small and does not match their size chart. Easily an 8-10. Despite this being a quality control issue on their part, I was denied an exchange for an extra small because the dress was final sale. I understand if this was buyer's remorse but their sizing is wrong by their own size chart! Shout out to Michelle who tried to help me but management would not give her the approval. I am stuck with a dress that will cost at least a hundred bucks to take apart and alter. Plus I have to find another dress for the wedding. Congrats management! You saved on shipping that I probably would have had to pay myself but you have lost a long time customer. I will never order from this company again.
Most, if not all, of their items are made in China anyway. Probably in sweat shops that abuse workers since they don't care about you as a customer at all. I have unsubscribed from their email list. I would give them zero stars if I could since the dress was not cheap even on sale. Horrible!
Horrible Company
If I could give J Peterman a zero rating, I would. Around March 6th, almost four months ago, I returned an item. I have yet to get my refund! A dispute with my bank is pending. BUYER DEFINITELY BEWARE! I received all kinds of double talk from them about my refund. Unless you know you will not have to make a return, do not make a purchase. Better yet, just do not buy from them.
Just Try To Get A Refund!
We have ordered from this company for years. This is the second time we sent something back. Both times, getting a refund was nearly impossible. We returned our items in March. The story changed each time we called. Finally, in May, we contacted our bank’s credit card folks. Amazing! They said we could leave it with them; and, issued us a credit for the full amount. No more shopping with Peterman!
Sad to see a once great company reduced…
Sad to see a once great company reduced to substandard quality. The catalog is still enticing, but the products no longer live up to the billing they get, as they once did.
