I like how spacious the gym is and the wide variety of machines it offers. On my first day, the staff member at the entrance warmly welcomed me and explained the facilities.

Good amount/range of equipment.
this is for "Edinburgh West" JD Gym, where I'm a regular for almost 2 years.
Good amount/range of equipment.
Treadmills and cardio equipment barely wiped down, often have layers on semi dry up sweat on them. You tend to chose from worse to bad based on stickiness/what you are okay with your towel/phone touching.
They used to provide paper towel roll and cleaning spray, but since staff likely figured out then there is actually extra work and bins have to emptied more often (paper towels), they put the paper towels away.
Some treadmills have non adjusted belts for months now, which become noticeable due to extra noise/sudden stops once you go above walking speed. Obviously they didn't label the faulty ones...
The above point about machines/cleanliness - it used to be all fine about ~6 months ago.
One staff member (the shortest guy) stopped wearing his uniform a few months ago, whereas everyone else wears it, odd, likely because he found out this way he's not bothered by customers. Odd seeing some guy in 100% personal clothing going and ticking the "cleaning sheets"
Lockers/showers/toilets are very clean, they sort of have to be with only 2 male toilets for the gym this size (there was third one for disabled people, but they started locking that up)

Disrespectful staff!
I am a mature gym goer, and I have never experienced such rudeness and lack of respect before as recently from two staff members at my local JDGyms. What is worse, when I dared to complain, I was villainized by them. Sadly, JDGyms management team seem to be allowing such behaviour from their staff...

I have only been going to the gym for a few weeks. I never thought I would say I enjoy going to the gym but I do and that’s down to personal trainer Bruce who is encouraging and gives me confidence that in time I will achieve what I want.

Great Vibe
It's clean, massive, staff are friendly, helpful, lots of equipment. Great vibe! Only down side for me personally. The timetable needs improvement...body pump or body combat classes would be great! Also more info needed on website, what things you need for specific classes for eg: Boxfit - Boxing gloves, pads for any newbies coming to a class.

Good gym, needs to be better!
The space is nice and big. The gym is well equipped and the PTs provide good classes. The equipment is quite dated and could do with a refresh though. And the ceiling is still leaking.
