The team at James Porter and Sons are absolutely brilliant. I have now just purchased another watch from them and the reason is because JP& Sons are so trustworthy and really good at their job. Simon is the fifth or sixth generation to run the family business and has a great team of knowledgeable watch individuals. David , Stuart and Declan will go out of their way to guide and assist without the heavy sales tactics used in other shops . Perfect size shop to browse the independent brands that are hard to get up close and personal.

You're always asking if you can trust the people helping you to get you the best product at the best price. I can honestly say that I left James Porter & Sons with the best product I could have afforded at the best price they could have sold it to me. The staff were friendly(especially Laura!), the experience was straightforward, and the service was extremely efficient and customer-orientated. I cannot recommend them enough as a jewellers you can genuinely trust.

What amazing service from Molly... Even though I didn't know what I was looking for other than a special birthday gift!
Molly listened to my description of my wife's likes / dislikes made a few suggestions, was respectful when I dismissed some and used that to refine her offerings leading to the purchase of a gift that my wife absolutely loved.
It was such a pleasant experience (all be it my wallet is a tad lighter) and I would not hesitate to recommend anyone to call on her assistance.

I recently bought my girlfriend an engagement ring, and unfortunately the experience wasn’t what I had hoped for. When I first picked the ring, I noticed it was scratched. I mentioned this to the woman who helped me, and she assured me it would be resolved once the ring was resized. Thankfully, the scratch was removed after resizing.

However, the service itself afterwards left me disappointed. Once I had propossed we called ahead to book the resizing ( one week after our proposal) we were advised over the phone to leave the car and make a day of it as they would offer a small celebration and offer drinks in the shop for our special day, this gave the impression the process would take some time. Instead, when we arrived at the jewellers, we were in and out within 5 minutes with no drinks or celebrations offered. During this time, the employee showed little compassion for our propsoal and offered no real reassurance when I raised concerns about the scratch on the ring. The employee didn’t explain the process and didn’t seem to offer any empathy towards our concerns because the ring had already been purchased. For such an important purchase, I expected a more supportive and reassuring experience.

Overall, while the ring itself turned out fine in the end, the customer service fell way short of what I was expecting, especially considering the amount of money spent on something as meaningful as an engagement ring.

Would not reccomend.

Fast, efficient, careful and professional. My watch was less than £200 bought online but they made it feel like I’d spent £1000. 100% recommend these guys.

Enquired about a watch and was impressed on how quickly my email was replied by Claire, who informed me it was in Stock. This isn't my first review of James Porter & Son Ltd., but it's worth restating what a splendid company it is.

I recent bought two watches as employee gifts. The purchase was simple, efficient and flawless due to the genuinely excellent customer service and efficiency of the lovely folk who work there.

I even received a handwritten note, which was thoughtful and impressive; who'd imagine that a busy retail business would go to that trouble these days?

If you value quality, and splendid service and you are looking for jewellery or watches you'd be hard pressed to find a better option than James Porter & Son.
