Be wary amd double check everything
We went to purchase a car on 12th May, they seemed friendly enough and the car was nice so we paid a deposit and they said theyd deliver it on the 14th for us. There were, at the time, 3 issues to fix. Windscreen wipers needed adjusting, the tyre pressure was low and there was a scratch. Upon delivery 2 out of 3 were fixed as they said they couldn't do the scratch, they knocked some money off for us to sort it.
They gave us the green slip from the V5 and the keys and he left. We then had an email from the DVLA to say they'd recieved the paperwork, FOR A DIFFERENT CAR! we phoned IKA immediately and they apologised for the admin error and they would ring up and sort it our. I contacted again onthe Friday to check they had sorted it, they said yes they had phoned and that when we get the log book to "just throw it away" We said we weren't comfortable in doing that and would send it back to the DVLA, they said we didn't need to, but I just left it at that. They rang up on the Saturday to confirm that they had spoken to the DVLA AND IT WAS ALL SORTED! I questioned it as I had spoken to IKA the day before and that's what they said then. He said no the wait time on hold on the telephone was too long so they waited another day. I just reiterated my disappointment. We rang the DVLA when we got the log book, they had no record of the phone call but took note that we had never seen the car let alone purchased it, it was for a small red Peugeot nothing ,like the car we purchased. We sent a covering letter back with the log book, and have just received another letter to sort this situation out.
Within a few days of driving the car the tyre pressure warning came on again, we checked the pressure, and it was all OK, so I assumed they had just forgotten to reset it. Then, an air bag/seat retension warning came on very shortly after the check engine light came on and the engine started to shut down! By the only silver lining I can take from this is that we were approaching our home. When we got on the drive the fans continued to run for about 10 minutes. WE spoke to our garage who dealt with the AA 3 month warantee that we were given ( I say given they had not put it in with any paperwork given to us)
It came back with 19 faults! As they advised none were covered by the AA warrantee, some were serious faults and some that needed fixing would fix a few at the same time. IKA did collect the car, I did have to explain a few times that it would need to be towed as it could not be driven. They delivered the car back by driving it to us, upon delivery the plastic car covering along the drivers side of the windshield was very loose (apologies I do not know the technical term) he said it'll cost you £20 to fix it we will give you £20 , we refused we had taken photos before they took it and there had been no issues before and it shouldn't have come back like that let alone be left for us to deal with!
They took it back and returned it a few days later. We had it booked into our garage so the work could be checked. And that brings me to today, they had taken the battery out and not put the correct one back in, the fpgarage confirmed this was incorrect work. The fan they had cleaned but not done any work to, so effectively not sorting the problem! We just phoned them and they said it all works fine they're not interested anymore. So we are and extra £500 down and luckily had not sold on our old car or we would had have no car since 14th May. They get 2 stars because they did fix alot of the faults , however not quite completing the work and the DVLA issues are worrying. I would not use again, I couldn't talk with them on the phone, they continually kept telling me to "calm down" They responded to my husband better.
