Oban Huws Gray is brilliant!
I'm a 72-year old woman on my own and needed to order and pick up some heavy items. Online ordering was quick, efficient and user-friendly, and the staff at the Oban branch could not have been more helpful.
They helped me load everything into my car, and when one wooden beam wouldn't fit kept it to one side for me until I was able to call again.
I'd been a bit anxious about making sure I had the right products but needn't have worried – everyone was friendly and kind.

Terrible service
Terrible service. Order online because stock was showing. Then we waited for the email and travelled 30 mile to collect to be told the stock wasn’t there. Poor!

Great Customer service
Very helpful over the phone and also in person, we drove a long way to collect some bricks, which only they sold individually, and they were great to deal with.

Above and beyond
I ordered some large pieces of boarding and beams to raise my mum’s flooring, to be delivered to her house. My mum is 89 and has several disabilities , including being partially sighted.
I explained this to the nice chap at Huws Gray. I asked if when delivering could the goods be carried into my mum’s house as she couldn’t possibly do this.
After checking with his supervisor, the chap advised it would be no problem and would ensure the job was assigned a 2 man task so ensure it was done safely.
They arrived promptly when they said they would, phoning me first to ensure mum was aware they were coming.
They carried the goods inside and ensured they were stored safely and that mum was aware where they were.
Brilliant service, I can’t praise them enough.

Ordered online as local branch had stock. Collecting item was advised this was not correct but couldn't provide a credit back as its online order. Week later still not resolved.

I’ll never step in there again
Had a trade account with Huws for some time, as they’re very local to me. I don’t spend a fortune there but I do spend a few grand a year. I went in for 2 bags of self level. Got charged £36, which I thought was very high. It isn’t the first time I’ve been charged list price for items, only for them to “realise” they hadn’t put my discount on, and amended. This time I queried it and showed Nigel I could get them for 40% cheaper elsewhere, with a simple Google search. The way he looked at me and spoke to me like something he’d just trod in was disgusting. It took all my composure to keep my mouth shut and not lose my temper. It’s not the first time he’s done this and I’ve seen him do it to others. I’ll never buy from them again

delivery response dissappointing
Response with delivery timescale was non existent. When I phones I was told delivery was for 7 days hence, this date was clearly generated internally not my request.
Having resolved this issue the delivery was made that afternoon and as usual the products are first class.
