I purchased turf from GD and upon delivery reported that the turf had a lot of leather jacket larve in it. I was told by their ‘groundsman’ that it’s ‘normal’ and not to worry. Fool I am I laid it and after winter the lawn was mostly bare and (so I find out) classic effects of LJ infestation eating the roots. After many treatments and complete reseed, lawns now ok and GD off my future shopping list.

Up to you if you buy and if you do check the turf is clear as they seem to have (or had) a larve problem.

Absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish.

Even though delivery to my area initially seemed difficult, the level of service and the personalised, professional support I received made the decision easy. After speaking with Nakita, I wouldn’t have considered going anywhere else.

The delivery experience was equally impressive. Communication was clear throughout—they confirmed the delivery day in advance and provided an accurate ETA on the day, which they stuck to. Larajce delivered a true white-glove service—friendly, professional, and placed everything exactly where requested without any issues.

Even when a minor hiccup arose, Nakita stepped in immediately and resolved it quickly with minimal disruption. That level of accountability is rare.

This is exactly how customer service should be: personal, professional, and genuinely focused on the customer. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them and will absolutely use them again.

Brilliant as advertised, Received excellent (non-product pushing) info and advice on best combo of lawn and topsoil for my garden, Delivery was seamless (not easy on a narrow ladder road in St Albans), and lawn was Fresh and lush when arrived.

Not only that, they stand by their products, Dawn called up to make everything was in order with the delivery, and if the grass was growing properly.

I bought 6 jumbo bags of soil for raised beds and one bag of compost. The quality of these is excellent and the delivery was on time. Can’t fault this service.

Absolutely disgraceful. Laid 75sqm on ultra smooth/level, clean soil. However most rolls consisted of a patchwork of thicknesses throughout ranging from 0.5cm to 4.2cms thick making all the prep work a complete waste of time and money. Two weeks later its a field of mushrooms! Hundreds of them on land that had never seen a mushroom in the 12 years the house has stood there. Tried reaching George Davies to let him know. I guess he already knew!

The customer service from George Davies is outstanding in my opinion. I spoke to two different customer service agents and the level of help, professionalism and friendliness was refreshing. Lawrence delivered my top soil and turf. He too was fantastic. Thank you so much George Davies!

A George Davies driver (I won't use his name as I don't have his consent) watched as my brother's motorbike was was hit by a van on the motorway. The George Davies driver used his lorry to block the motorway and stop other drivers, then delivered essential first aid until an air ambulance turned up.

There's no other way to put it, and many others played a role, but this man's presence of mind and thoughtless actions saved my brother's life. Unfortunately I live abroad ... if I was in the UK I'd get George Davies to turf and returf !

Just saying thank you seems so inadequate. But Thank You.
