I highly recommend Rob Bird & Fordy’s Driving School. My son is 21 and has autism. Driving has been one of life’s biggest challenges for him. Due to his literalness the theory kept eluding him and he took a 3 year break from lessons. After passing his theory earlier this year he started lessons with Rob in June. Rob was keen to know any strategies and ways to engage him in learning. Any transition or change is challenging and spending 2 hours in a car with a new person when anxieties are high could be overwhelming, however he returned from the first lesson happy and relaxed stating ‘he’s sound, he gets me’. Rob has a natural instinct for using the right language. He clearly explained not just what my son needed to do but why it was necessary. If mistakes were made in lessons he could sense what my son needed - whether that was a break and a chat, a change of task or the chance to redo the manoeuvre. He was able to stop my son from spiralling. After getting a cancellation slot my son had only 2 weeks to prepare for his test but Rob kept him reassured and calm. I think the fact that my son asked Rob to sit in the back of the car on test day is testament to the trusted relationship they built. Rob was his safe person. He passed first time with only 4 minors on a Monday morning in 8am rush hour traffic and in a storm! Driving will increase his independence and confidence. I can’t thank Rob enough,
not only has he made the learning experience the most worry-free and positive it could possibly be for my son, he has also made a huge difference to us as parents, knowing that we could entrust our son into safe hands and that Rob would take the time and care to understand his learning needs.

Dave was a brilliant and friendly instructor who helped my driving from start to finish, he helped me crack everything i struggle with and we had a good laugh on the way too he was clear and easy to get along with and would recommend to anyone else who’s learning to drive

Rob was very encouraging and positive for the whole time. Made it easy and comfortable for me to drive even when I made mistakes. Haven’t got a bad word to say.

Fordys came to my aid when I had to quickly find a driving instructor before my test due to unforeseen circumstances with my previous instructor. Martin helped me gain confidence in my driving, and I was able to pass the second time around. Martin helped me by not only improving my driving skills but also encouraging me to go out of my comfort zone and properly experience real-world scenarios.

Dave was an incredible driving instructor! So kind and patient, helping me work through some weak points in my driving. Always gave thorough and clear feedback about my driving, always came to the lesson with a plan and was so calm at all times! This was not my first experience learning to drive but it was definitely my best. I passed my test today with only one minor which is simply down to Dave’s incredible instruction! Thank you so much to Dave, and Fordys driving school.

My driving instructor was, Martin Goodwin. I say was because I passed frist time, which makes me a very happy lady. I was a very nervous driver, who didn't have a lot of confidence in her self or driving. He always made me feel comfortable and explained things in ways that I could understand. Im dyslexic, and find thing hard if not explained in the right way. It can get very confusing, he understood this, and showed me way to help. He made me belive that i can and I will, he belived in when I never did.

Due to unforeseen circumstances I need a new driving instructor very near my test. With 24hours of calling I have been put in contact with Stewart. From the start he saw where I needed help to get me over the line, very calm driving instructor and understanding.
I passed first time. Would recommend.

What a great driving school! The driving school I had previously gone with wasn’t very good and I wasn’t getting much out of my lessons.

On the other hand, I highly recommend Rob. He is a fantastic instructor!! I passed first time on 23rd July and wouldn’t have been able to do so without his amazing teaching. Rob is very patient and gives instructions well, he explains everything very clearly. Whenever I was in doubt with my driving or having a difficult time, he would allow me to take a breather and then carry on. I really appreciate this. He also moved my test date out a couple of times as I didn’t feel 100% ready.

What I loved was that Rob is very passionate about his job, a very optimistic person, and as a result instructs to a high standard. I would highly recommend Rob and FORDY’S. Thank you again Rob and FORDY’S.

I had been making slow progress with a previous instructor but then started with Matt and Fordy’s at around April. He helped me so much with my confidence on the road and I passed my test and the end of July. Matt has been an enormous help and I wouldn’t have been able to pass without his help.

Absolutely great. Rob was my instructor and he was incredibly helpful, all whilst being down to earth which made feeling at ease in the car effortless. Can’t thank and recommend him/Fordys enough!

It was great decision to choose Fordy's driving school for the driving lesson, as I got great instructor in form of Dave (David Hawkins). He's brilliant to guide and encourage a novice like myself, to gain confidence in driving all the time. Thank you!

I passed my test first time at the start of June after around 9 months of lessons with Stewart. As a bit of an anxious driver who'd had negative experiences with a previous driving school, I felt like I'd never pass my test. Stew put me at ease and taught me all the skills I needed to be a safe and confident driver. I've been enjoying my newfound independence over the last month and can't thank Stew and Fordy's enough!

I had had ten hours of lessons with my instructor when he told me that he was over capacity and could not fit me in his schedule anymore. I have now had to find a new driving instructor. Very poor customer service, very disappointed in the company, would not recommend.

Jack was an amazing driving instructor, he is really polite and chatty, he helped me overcome my fears of driving and helped me achieve my pass first time.

My driving lesson experience was brilliant. I cannot sing Gary’s praises enough. From the start he was encouraging, patient and supportive. He provided a structure to each lesson while still allowing for flexibility when needed and clearly had the driving knowledge of a top instructor. I was not just taught how to pass a test, I was taught how to be a safe and confident driver. I couldn’t have done it without him.

I would just like to say a massive thank you to Glynn at Fordys! He made me feel at ease from my first day I begin my driving lessons up until the day of my test! He has been with me every step of the way, I couldn’t recommend him high enough, genuinely lovely man, thank your for believing in me Glynn!

Just had my first lesson back to driving after a break and Dave has been a brilliant instructor. Very friendly and understanding and an all round great first lesson back.

If 6 stars was an option I’d choose that option. Martin is a brilliant instructor, very patient, supportive and easy to talk to. He stuck by me and helped me to pass my test today. I feel very confident in my driving abilities now and couldn’t be happier with the result.highly recommend - Martin you are a legend!
