I recently brought a second hand car from Evolve Motor Company. To say that it was a first class purchasing experience is very much an understatement. From the minute I made the first enquiry via the website, the whole experience was 5 star. Matthew my sales chap, was just brilliant, not a typical slime sales guy, no he was knowledgeable, emphatic, charming, thoughtful and answered every question, even outside of office hours. The whole process from being a customer was just seamless. I drove away with no stress, a beautiful car and a smile wider than a Cheshire Cat. A special mention though has to go to Matthew. We had a very friendly service straight from the start since entering the dealership, was very welcoming even with my 1 year old baby there too, Matthew helped out various times to try out a few cars to be able to come to a final decision on what car we would like to have as a family next, very fast service receiving the new car within 4 days with full completion in them 4 days, wouldn’t advise anyone to go anywhere else and will be going back there for all my future cars

The entire process with Evolve was smooth from start to finish. They responded quickly to my initial enquiry and were very helpful answering a few questions I had.
On the day of pick up again all the lads were polite and very helpful getting documentation sorted.
The fact there were others that had driven across the country to pick up vehicles alongside me, gives a pretty good indication of the company and its reputation.

First contact made with Matthew who chatted & answered all my questions, followed by a video of the vehicle. He went over & above going in on his day off to get more pictures! He kept me well informed during the lead up to viewing it. The car was exactly as pictured/described & has been a dream to drive. Everyone has commented how good it looks. Evolve stock a large amount of very reasonably priced & appealing cars. The staff were very friendly & welcoming.

Extremely poor aftersales experience.
TLDR:
The aftersales experience was extremely poor. Main issues:
• I was lied to regarding the status of my V5C for months.
• Aftersales service is virtually non-existent, calls are often unanswered and follow-ups rarely happen.
• The aftersales line is virtually ineffective, going through sales is the only way to get a response.
• A speaker was replaced incorrectly (and not properly checked), followed by frustratingly poor updates and no clear delivery date.
• Paint damage initially agreed to be repaired was later cancelled, leaving only a price reduction.
• Interior preparation and cleanliness at collection were below expectations.
If you buy here, hope you don’t need aftersales support as getting help is slow and frustrating.
The most serious issue I experienced was the handling of the V5C/logbook. It was five months after collection before the matter was resolved. During this time, I was repeatedly told that the V5C had been submitted and was on the way. Statements such as “It should arrive soon” and “I’ll have a look” were made multiple times, but none proved accurate.
Over the months, I contacted DVLA several times to check if a V5C application was being processed, each time, they confirmed nothing was underway. The dealership then told me, ‘I can see the rescript from when we sent it’ and ‘I’ll send it again and backdate it.’ After no progress, I began a paper trail via email. A week and a follow-up email later, I was told that they had never had a V5C for the car and would submit a V62 on my behalf. This meant I had been lied to for four months.
A few weeks later, I contacted DVLA again and discovered that the initial V62 application had been rejected because the £25 fee had not been enclosed, causing further, avoidable delays. The V62 was then resubmitted correctly with the fee, and the V5C was finally issued, exactly five months after I collected the car.
Adding to the confusion, the most recent V5C issued for the car was dated just four days before I first viewed it, which makes the timeline and the repeated claims about submissions / lack of V5C difficult to understand and further highlights the lack of clarity from the dealership.
Throughout this entire period, I had to reach out repeatedly. At no point did the dealership proactively contact me. This made it frustratingly difficult to get accurate information and required significant effort to resolve.
During the test drive, one of the speakers wasn’t working. I was assured this would be fixed before collection. On collection, it hadn’t been fixed, the wrong speaker had been replaced and clearly not checked. Aftersales gave no clear delivery date for the replacement, requiring multiple calls over several weeks. While eventually resolved, the lack of communication made a straightforward fix unnecessarily difficult.
During the initial viewing, I noticed paint damage on the bonnet and was told this could be repaired for £100 before collection, which I agreed to. A few days later, I was told the repair would not be carried out as it would take too long, despite my collection being over a week away and making clear I was happy to extend this. Instead, the price was reduced by £100, which gave the impression that once the sale was effectively secured, the dealership was unwilling to follow through on agreed work.
On collection, the car was not as clean as promised. There were several noticeable areas that had been missed. While this is relatively minor on its own, it contributed to the overall impression of a lack of attention to detail.
Across all issues, the consistent problem was poor aftersales, unreliable communication, promised callbacks being forgotten, and the aftersales line was ineffective. The V5C situation alone meant I was lied to for months, highlighting the lack of organisation and priority given to customer support after payment. While the initial buying experience was positive, the appalling aftersales completely overshadowed the excitement of getting a new car.

The experience I had at Evolve was fantastic. From the initial customer service over the phone when enquiring about the car, to visiting / viewing & finally purchasing the car they were very welcoming & helpful from start to finish, will definitely be back and would recommend!

Great service from start to finish. When I first rang up to enquire about the car I subsequently bought, I spoke to Harry who was knowledgeable and helpful about the details of the car.
We arranged that I would swing past on our way to Cornwall for a short break (living in Sussex it was a trek to get to Cornwall but it also broke the journey up)
The car was exactly as described.
Discussions with Harry meant that it was possible and certainly not too much trouble to get the car prepped and ready for pick up two days later on our way back from Cornwall.
I was really impressed at the willingness and ‘nothing being too much trouble’ attitude of Harry.
We picked the car up and now I have a happy wife. Happy wife happy life!
Thanks Harry… if I’m looking for a car again, it’s well worth my time and effort to view your stock because of the service I have received.
