Extremely Inefficient and Frustrating Experience

I contacted this company on November 28 to set up pre-authorized payments and immediately provided all the required paperwork. They emailed me back asking for a void cheque, which I sent right away. After waiting three days for a response, they told me I needed to answer security questions—so I did. Then I waited another three days, only to be told that the void cheque didn’t match the paperwork. This back-and-forth kept happening, with each correction taking them days to address.

By December 9—nearly two weeks later—the automatic payments still weren’t set up. I ended up calling them out of sheer frustration. Only after I complained directly did they finally complete the setup.

The whole process was incredibly inefficient. Instead of telling me everything they needed upfront, they dragged it out over multiple emails, each taking days to respond. It caused unnecessary delays and a lot of frustration. Definitely not impressed with their customer service or communication.

The former Financial First was amazing - Embark is awful and I will be looking to switch my children's investments.

Notes on your file indicate that the forms you had initially sent in did not match the subsequent void cheque, so we were unable to process your request. Unfortunately, we cannot process documentation or requests that are not in good order or have contradictory information on them. Please note that our standard turnaround time for changes such as your request is maximum 5 business days if in good order, and can be processed even faster on your secure online Embark account, which we encourage customers to use for similar account updates. We are continuously looking for ways to improve our processing experience and we thank you for your feedback. Smooth Withdrawal process

I was able to withdraw funds for my daughters tuition in a few easy steps. I had a confirmation that my request was processing right away and my funds were in my bank account in four days. The website is very user friendly and gives you guidance on how to withdraw. Great experience!

Great Experience

"Ruman Manchanda" our consulat from Embark explained and guided from beginning to end in the process of applying RESP for our kids. Her knowledge helped us a lot through the process. I would definitely recommend her services to friends.

Great experience with Embark!

Setting up our Embark RESP was easier than I expected. They make it really simple to track our savings and handle everything for us. We’ve already received multiple grants and the growth has been solid.

I’ll be honest — I signed up because they offered the best promotion I’ve ever seen, and while they absolutely delivered on it, what’s kept us here is how effortless they make the whole process. Definitely one of the better decisions we’ve made for our kids. Would confidently recommend to anyone!

If You Care About Your Money, Read This First

After 10+ years with Embark, I contributed $28,000 and my RRSP is only worth just over $40,000. That growth is shockingly low for a full decade.

When I tried to transfer my RRSP in early November, they told me it could take up to two months — something no other financial institution I’ve used has ever required. RRSP transfers don’t take months.

Weak returns and slow service. If you care about your money, look elsewhere.
I wish someone had warned me earlier — don’t make the same mistake.

They are holding my money hostage

They are holding my money hostage. My parents are trying to take it out of Embark entirely, and it isn't going anywhere. We are being run dry of money from college and vehicle costs for education, and they have absolutely atrocious customer service.

Great Experience Setting Up RESP
