Unfair rules and automated traps for Spot accounts – Avoid!
My experience with Drift Fund has been very disappointing. They advertise and sell "Spot" accounts, but they apply aggressive high-impact news rules that completely contradict the reality of spot trading. I opened a spot trade hours before a news event, and their automated system forced-closed my account simply because the position was open during their 5-minute restricted window.
In a true Spot account (with no leverage or margin risk), holding assets during news is standard practice. Using these rigid, automated rules to breach accounts and refusing any flexibility or refund shows a lack of fairness toward traders. They care more about keeping challenge fees than supporting users. Be very careful before purchasing any challenge here.

That is the strangest rule I have ever heard of: losing the account if I open a trade for just a few seconds and close it without a stop-loss—even though I didn't violate the 5-minute rule. None of the other funding companies I know have a condition like this.

The 5-minute window exists to ATTACH a stop loss to a position, not to trade without one: closing a position that never had a stop loss means the trade ran start-to-finish with no defined risk, which is exactly what a funded-capital program cannot allow — even for a few seconds, because a price gap in those seconds is unlimited risk. On the position size: this is not a platform fault, it is our position-size rule, and the number you are seeing is exactly right. Total exposure in any one instrument is capped at 2x your account's starting balance. On your $10,000 account that is $20,000 of exposure. Because gold trades near $4,600 per ounce, $20,000 works out to roughly 4.3 ounces — about 0.043 lots. You also currently hold two open gold positions worth around $18,400 together, and they count toward the same cap, which is why there is very little room left for a third.
The rule scales with the account: on a $100,000 account the same cap allows ten times the size. It exists so that one oversized position cannot decide the outcome of a challenge, and it is published in full on our rules page, including the formula for calculating your maximum size.
On the disconnections: our price feed streams live and re-syncs automatically if a connection stalls, so this is usually the local connection or the browser. A hard refresh clears it in most cases. If a specific symbol stays frozen after a reload, please email support@driftfund.io with the symbol and the exact UTC time — that would be a genuine bug and we want to find it.
Your account is active and in profit. If the size limit is the main constraint you are feeling, a larger account is the answer rather than a workaround, and we are happy to talk it through.
