Great for saving on fees, but lacking basic automation and choices.
Moved to Dodl a few months ago from Moneybox to escape their high fees. On the cost side, it’s a massive win—the 0.15% fee saves me a lot of money as my portfolio grows, and having no dealing fees is fantastic.
However, you pay for those low fees with your own time. Three things are incredibly frustrating compared to Moneybox:
No automated investing: You can't set up a default group of funds to automatically buy when you deposit cash. I pay into a LISA, which means every single month I have to log in manually to invest my £333 deposit. Then, when the government bonus drops later in the month, I have to log in a second time to place separate buy orders all over again for the £83 top-up. It turns a "set-and-forget" habit into a tedious monthly chore.
No auto-balancing: You should be able to set target percentages for your account (e.g., 50% World, 20% Europe) and have new cash automatically buy what’s needed to keep things balanced. Instead, you have to build your own spreadsheets just to figure out where the cash goes.
Restricted fund choice: Their investment menu is very limited. They don't even offer a High Dividend Yield fund, which is where a large chunk of my money was invested before I switched. I had to completely change my strategy because it isn't an option here.
Verdict: Switch if you want to save serious money on fees, but be prepared to do all the manual heavy lifting yourself. Great budget broker, but very clunky if you want a hands-off portfolio.

I regret getting involved with this company
Their transfer team emailed me yesterday (20/5/26) saying they wd send my cash balance by Faster Payment. It didn't arrive and am still waiting
Act No: XB6KKJS.
(Closed and part transferred)
Dreadful communication, cash balance gone missing in transfer and Dodl are not responding to emails. I will have to open complain with the financial ombudsman. This follows poor advice on their procedures which their staff are clueless. Very unhappy
