Discover owes balance due

Discover owes my deceased spouse a balance of $97. They refuse to make the check out in my name, and my bank won't take accept the check in someone else's name. I sent the check back to Discover but never heard back from them. I finally called them. Discover requires specific paperwork to even LOOK INTO options to resolve this, and the time / effort far exceeds what it's worth. In addition, they never contacted me to say what they needed, it was only after I contacted them. They successfully cheated me out of the money they legally owe.

Great debit card and customer support

Been banking with them for close 2 two years - and I gotta say initially there were issues with trying to log in and for a few months I relied on my other online banks. Well I learned my lesson, those other online banks ended up allowing fraud charges and ignoring disputes to the turn of $3k I will probably never get back despite filing with BBB and CFPB. Discover debit card you get money back and that in itself should be a reason to sigh up. But the few times I needed to file a dispute it was as easy as sending a quick message through the app and within 24hours of less a provisional credit was applied and investigation finalized before the predicted deadline. And you can actually talk to someone in the US without waiting on hold forever.

My application for online banking was…

My application for online banking was rejected for opaque reasons. At the least, they can be transparent. I cannot provide additional stars because I was unable to experience additional services. Capital One approved me immediately, and can send a debit card to me internationally, whereas Discover did not have the option.

Excellent credit, yet cancelled for no reason. Why?

Cancelled my [somewhat] high limit credit card for no reason (maybe not using it enough?).

Not a big deal- just opened another CC company - approved for double the limit.
So maybe it was meant to be? Thanks Discover!

More importantly, the surprise that my Discover Card credit limit was suddenly reduced to $500.00 ?? Without notice. Odd. I’ve never experienced this before. And Discover gave no explanation.

Btw: Excellent payment history across the board; excellent credit score; excellent income /employment history.

Used it for one balance transfer; paid it off in full after the term. Discover profited with a 3% fee. Not sure if that's considered feasible to keep me on as a customer(?)…

Who knows? Oh well. I have plenty other CCs happy to have my loyalty :)

Discover Card refuses to protect their customers

I purchased InflatR using Discover Card. The product is a piece of junk. I wanted to return the item for a refund, but InflatR refuses to give refunds. I appealed to Discover Card, which is supposed to protect buyers if an item purchased using that card is unsatisfactory. Discover did contact InflatR which stated that I received the item, and if I didn’t like it, tough. Discover removed the temporary credit they had initially applied to my account, saying they could do nothing more. Needless to say, I appealed, but they refused to reinstate the credit. Discover has defaulted on their advertisement stating that that they stand with the customer in case of faulty items purchased using Discover.

Incompetent customer service

Incompetent customer service. I closed my account after many years when I recently was unable to change the phone number on my profile. It took 2 hours and several calls to customer service to have a rep look into why the software wasn't letting make the change. A rep finally claimed to have made the change for me and promised to report the issue to IT. The next time I tried to log on to my account, my password had been changed and the old phone numbers appeared on the reset screen, so I had no access to my account at all. I can't live with that level of incompetence and closed out the account.

It's a long story but the short of it…

It's a long story but the short of it is I applied for a secured credit card with Discover and was denied. I asked for my$500 security deposit back and it's been since May and they have not returned my deposit. I went to court in November to file a lawsuit. The judge ordered my $500 plus $50 a month penalty for not returning my deposit in a timely manner. From May to November... I'm still waiting for the money... next I will file a lawsuit for $50000..if I don't get the money the Court ordered ASAP...I WOULD NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN!!!

I think the customer service at…is great

I think the customer service at Discover is one of the best out there, they help you right away and I love how you actually speak to someone in the united states at least every time I have called and they even tell you what state you are reaching. Very friendly also I get tired of calling a credit card customer service and getting the Philippines or another country. Discover always has helped me right away with things.

Website's problems mostly fixed

Discover's website was issuing a security challenge requiring that I enter a code from a text or e-mail every single time I sign on -- it asked whether I was using using my own computer every single time, but it ignored the answer every single time. This is finally fixed and I'm mostly satisfied with the website, though at least one feature's still not working.

Recommend to anyone

Discover has treated me very well over the couple of years that I have been with them. I have the Discover IT card, a savings, and a checking account with them. I have not run into a single problem. 5/5

Very Unforgiving!

Most credit card companies will give you a 1 time exemption if you call in to let them know you accidentally didn't get the bill paid on time. I had a $29 balance and they added on a $29 late fee (very excessive for just 8 days late). They made me wait 45 minutes on the phone to speak with a representative. I can't do business with a card company like this. I cancelled my card and told the rep it was BS.

Closed account without notifying me

I found out from my credit report that discover closed my account without notifying me. When I first called it was due to inactivity of 6 months which is nuts. I called back to speak with the right department and they told me it was cause inactivity and my FICO score delinquency on a loan that I am disputing due to fraud. I have a lawyer which is why it is not being paid and suing. My credit limit was 9k and I needed this card for emergency but who are they to judge and assume without knowing anything about my
Credit history. That is unprofessional and I do not recommend this card company and I didn’t even have a balance with them. I’m pissed off. The customer service rep was not helpful at all she didn’t even care. This is the worst card company I’ve ever experienced. I don’t even want to do business with them at this point.

I opened a account, with a deposit with Discover, now discover refuses to give my deposit back , I tried updating my bank info, the sites not working properly, now they are saying my payment credit card was late,, If discover, had their site working , my payment would not of been late " ....fix your site if you want on-time payments , never open a deposit credit card cause they refuse to give your deposit
back " Shame on Discover " ...

Idiot supervisor doesn’t know what an IT issues is

So, each time I have to call and verify my account, they never seem to have the correct phone number on file, even though I get text message alerts to my phone. I found out that the reason they can never verify my account is because they are using a third party system that pulls my information from my credit reports, which I never gave them permission to do. The phone numbers on my credit report are old. When they ask me for a new number, they somehow can’t update it to the number I call them from…. even though I get text alerts.

None of the agents or the supervisors seem to want to listen to customers telling them that their system is flawed. I’m so over this company. They frustrate tf out of me

Wonderful company

The best and most nice customer service experience ever. Anytime I’ve gotten scammed they’ve helped me. I also know someone who works there and have only heard positive feedback from them related to the work environment and conditions.

I get calls from 'Sarah at Discover'…

I get calls from 'Sarah at Discover' about my Discover Credit card on three different phone numbers with no ability to block on a daily basis sometimes more than once a day. I called Discover Card to see what they are doing about this since it is hurting their image and annoying customers. They are aware of this scam but are putting little effort to try to stop these calls in their name. I would think Discover Card being aware of this would put in an effort to stop these calls. They have vast resources to do this but Discover Card doesn't care. I am disgusted with Discover Card.

GOING OUT OF THEIR WAY

GOING OUT OF THEIR WAY: USPS will not deliver to my house because we currently don't have a mailbox. Discover CS was very prompt at responding to my chat, and they were able to get FedEx 2 day shipping free of charge for me! I am thrilled.

KUDOS to Discover Card Services

Earlier today I posted a negative review of Spybriefing.com
Discover was the card service mentioned.
They sent a text alert regarding the attempted fraud.
They turned off the affected card as soon as I verified that the order in question wasn't mine.
They had a replacement card in my hand in just over 24 hours. And the new card number does not affect the age of my account with them. (If a new card number had reset the age of my account, it might have affected my credit score).
Kudos to Discover Card!
