I have been a patient if alex’s For over 3 years both at moorfields and as a private patient. Trust him 100%.

Mr. Shortt is very generous with his time-- he makes sure you are comfortable and understand the procedure. Nothing is rushed. Please google him if you want to know more-- he is a very well regarded and accomplished doctor and researcher.

In all my visits, Dr Shortt has always been very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly with an extra touch of care and compassion which never goes unnoticed.

Before my surgery I was terrified of anything or anyone coming even close to my eyes, let alone do surgery on them - Mr Shortt dispelled my fears at my initial consultation by actively showing me that with some of the eyedrops he would be using I would truly feel nothing - he touched my eyeball a couple of times and I did indeed feel nothing. This gave me the courage to proceed. He was very kind and considerate, and during my surgery he talked to me telling me of his progress. The lens replacement surgery was done extremely professionally, with no pain or discomfort, and I was fit to leave an hour later. His team of nurses were extremely kind and reassuring, and follow-up has been fine, a complete success. I would recommend Mr Shortt to anyone who is considering eye surgery, especially if they are as anxious as I was.

I have and will continue to recommend Optegra and Dr Shortt. From start to finish the experience was excellent from the initial consultation to the surgery. All the staff I met from the receptionist to the nurses were excellent. All my questions were answered and I now have what I always wanted - perfect sight.

unfortunately the administrative side of things with regards to follow up and aftercare is sadly lacking, so however the surgery has gone is not followed up on. I have had some problems which are still ongoing and if anything is to be resolved I have to instigate it and drive it.

I choose this clinic for my eye surgery but I am still waiting to hear from them it's 6 months of wait and I had had no answer.

The doctor seems to be really good but you can't go throught without reply.

I’m glad to say that my experience with the service provided by Mr Shortt and Optegra so far has been exemplary, being a health care professional myself I was anxious about the procedure and had a lot of questions, Mr Shortt was able to reassure me by giving me all the facts as I was highly myopic. On the day of the procedure Mr Shortt talked me through exactly what he was doing step by step whilst I was in the operating theatre. The procedure was so quick and comfortable, Mr Shortt has an excellent bedside manner and with his team of nurses and optometrists he has provided brilliant post operative care. I have had 3 post op follow up appointments so far. The results have been amazing so far (I feel like I’ve been given a new pair of eyes!) and I am hopeful they will remain that way.
