Matt Cooke represented me throughout my most recent disciplinary hearing. Matt is a really smart, kind, and intelligent person who put my mind at ease both before and during the meeting. He was really helpful throughout the process and genuinely determined in finding the best solution for the case.

Community Union should be incredibly happy and appreciative to have this man working for them. I really can't express how much I admire the man. So this is your guy if you ever find yourself in a problem involving your place of employment.

I can’t thank you all enough for your unstinting support during a difficult time. All the staff have a huge amount of knowledge. I have learnt a great deal over the last few months about employment law!!!

The support I have had has been second to none and my rep has been very supportive. My employer has been very difficult throughout this process and my rep has worked hard to sort everything out for me. I am very grateful for her time and efforts with all of this. It cannot have been easy.

Community are a really supportive and engaged trade union that spend a lot of time and effort supporting their members in a variety of sectors. Their expertise in several sectors is invaluable.

It's excellent that they put so much time and effort into supporting community-based projects as well. Trade unions being at the heart of local activism and engaging with the arts is exactly what we all need more of.

Community Union have always been available to help me with any query or issue. Excellent advice and support. The package and perks they offer for being a member are excellent! Best Union ever for me.

I was with this trade union for many years and when i eventually needed representation for a disciplinary , i could not get a rep after cancelling my meeting twice . Had to attend the meeting alone and subsequently was disciplined . Immediately ended my membership . They also have a no strike agreement in place with the company , so have no leverage in pay negotiations , so usually accept 1st offer , as was the case this year with 5% (inflation is 11%) . They are allowed in by the company to sign up recruits on the training courses , who are not being made aware that there are other trade unions they can join (gmb and poa for example) . Due to the constant high turnover of staff at Geoamey , community will always have the majority of staff signed up straight off the production line , thereby always securung recognition as the recognised union. Not once have they threatened any kind of militant action against a company who pay their staff poorly and in my opinion have unsafe working practices .

Been with this union for many years and feel completely let down by them! The company I work for was told only 6 months ago after restructuring and redundancies that there was now a 5 year business plan in place, checked over and verified by the union and a specialist outside party and yet now we find ourselves on the brink of closure and our area rep seems to have no clue or fight in him whatsoever! Negotiations took place with a temporary MD representing the company, a man who has no idea whatsoever of the company and its work force and no deligation from our actual managers were allowed to attend to fight for the company’s survival. He should’ve insisted on there participation if he wanted the best outcome for his members but apparently never said a word just like in later meetings between HR and the internal union reps he has just sat there barely speaking (according to my own dept rep) I feel we have been badly let down and misrepresented by the union and fear now it’s too late for the correct outcome and survival of this once worldwide known steel supplier!

I’ve had excellent support from the logistics reps in my company. Alway they’re when I need them and plenty of information from the weekly bulletin board and they’ve negotiated a decent pay rise this year. I highly recommend Community

I was represented by Stevie Farrell at my recent disciplinary hearing. Stevie is a very knowledgeable, approachable and talented individual who made quite possibly one of the worst experiences in my working career look and feel like a walk in the park. Community should be very proud and grateful to have this man working on their behalf. I honestly cannot praise the man enough. So if you ever find yourself in a horrible situation with regards to your work place, this is your man 👏👏👏👏

Joined this union when on a training course with GEOAmey, rep promising everything and so forth
Unfortunately I took unwell during the course and was admitted to hospital in Glasgow, never heard from anyone at Community Union despite rep being in the building whilst paramedics were attending to me
GEOAmey on the other hand made regular calls to both my wife and myself, at one point even arranging transport and hotel accommodation for my wife so she could be nearby
Like other reviewers on here, I don't believe this is a good union to be part of, only out for themselves and your money

Well here we are in 2023, and apart from the original Unions reply, there has been no further contact from Community Union in Scotland, as I said previously,and still stand by, I don't believe this to be a good trade union to be part of, promise you everything to get you to join (and your money), but don't want to know you, or offer support when things go wrong ( in my case a heart attack during a training course, the union rep who convinced me to join was on site as the paramedics were attending to me)

I had two very competent Engineers Mark and Stuart came over to do the installation today, very professional, polite gentlemen who had gone above and beyond to make sure I was getting my broadband installed today. Very pleased with the service, well done Community fibre.

Avoid at all costs! I joined this union after being inspired by the strike events of this summer. I wish I hadn't! As per other reviews I have seen online, I contacted them for some low key advice on something happening at work around a pre-existing medical condition I have. I received a blunt reply saying they don't deal with pre-existing medical issues (not made clear at the time of joining) and sent me a link to find another union. I then asked to contact their complaints department and was then blocked by them! I then contacted the CEO and surprisingly received a reply saying they hadn't blocked me.
Just absolutely useless and definitely NOT what a union should be! Do yourself a favour and join another good union!

Miss sold me a membership. Did nothing to help even though I was treated unfairly by an employer. Accepted they did nothing and still have not offered a refund. Accepted I should have been treated fairly but wasn't. Useless organisation that put themselves before their members. Also have no official complaints procedure and do not respond to emails and just ignore you.
