Very easy from order to delivery all went very smoothly. Driver Anthony was great and got both containers into position exactly as required.

Fantastic service from start to finish. Sarah in sales, is always great to deal with, so helpful and friendly and makes ordering so easy and simple. Matthew in the delivery team always ensures the deliveries come when agreed.
All in all a very trustworthy and transparent company with great containers, that why we are always a returning customer :)

Long-Term Customer Deeply Disappointed with Decline in Service

I’ve been working with Cleveland for over 10 years and have purchased more than 400 units from them. For most of that time, I had a solid working relationship with the company — largely thanks to Jonathan, who always went above and beyond. However, since his departure from daily operations, the level of customer service has significantly declined.

I recently placed an order for 148 units and paid upfront for the first 83. While the initial delivery was fine, five of the boxes had major issues:
   •   Two needed complete interior resprays.
   •   One had a serious dent in the roof.
   •   One was over two years old (despite these being sold as one-way shippers).
   •   One was in such poor condition we refused to even offload it.

When we raised concerns, we were told that if the condition falls within their tolerance guidelines — which are very lenient, in our experience — we were expected to accept the unit anyway. And if we refused, we’d lose the delivery fee. This is unacceptable when you can’t inspect the unit until it arrives on-site.

Even before this, I had serious doubts about continuing with Cleveland. On a previous order of 76 units, after paying the deposit and agreeing on pricing, I was told the price had increased by £500 per container. The message was: take it or get your deposit back. I said I’d never deal with them again.

Then Jonathan personally reached out and asked for another chance. Because of the respect I have for him, I agreed. But clearly, he’s not involved in the day-to-day anymore — and it shows. If he were, this debacle wouldn’t have happened.

What they’ve really achieved here is the loss of a loyal, long-term customer with a strong network in the storage industry. I now actively advise others to avoid Cleveland.

If you’re considering entering the storage business, I’d be happy to offer guidance. We operate seven successful facilities and are expanding — we know the business well, and we know what standards you should expect from your suppliers.

If you want to risk delays, poor units, and inflexible service — go with Cleveland. If not, look elsewhere.

Having just spent nearly £250000 on containers with Cleveland i am very unhappy at the condition of the 20ft one trip containers they sent. At least 6 of them where badly marked on the inside and outside. One of them was returned as there wasn't a panel without a dent on it.
Their response was " its within tolerances.
I gave them this order against my better judgement as I know several people who have had terrible experiences with them. But I was promised this stuff wouldn't happen again.
They send you crap and tell you " it's within tolerance"
NEVER AGAIN! they've now lost out on further order of around 270 containers.
Shop around..... there are far better suppliers out there.

Cleveland were slightly more expensive than others, however service was good, reaction time was good as we had a tight schedule. Delivery drive was polite and supportive of the location and constraints.

All round a great experience and pleased with the product.

Excellent service from quote through to final delivery. Very helpful staff in the Glasgow office and Middlesbrough transport team.
A tricky lift over an 8ft hedge positioning on to raised legs, made to look easy by Simpsons Group, Leeds.

Great delivery. Great communication and delivery when agreed. Haulers were great too.
Containers internally in overall good condition.
A minor downside were several of the units had double bar handles when I'd requested and been told all would come with a single handle door.
The major reason I'll go elsewhere for my next lot of containers is because they were all very dirty on the outside, ingrained with dirt, dust and birdshit. As a business that rents these units out for storage, none of them arrived in a condition where I could rent them straight away which is usually the case.
I spent a day jetwashing them then scrubbing down the doors with soap (27 of them) then jetwashing them again, just to get to a condition where a hirer would touch the handles to open the doors.

The container we have received is exactly as described, absolutely new bar a few very minor external marks, very happy with it.

I did ask that it was delivered in the afternoon though to avoid a very tricky car parking situation, this request was ignored and the container was delivered at 8:00am, by complete chance this was ok on this occasion, however I as very specific about this request for very specific reasons, disappointing that it was totally ignored because the alternative would have been us sending it back or asking the driver to wait 5 hours, which I imagine he wouldn't do.
