I got to the garage at the scheduled time and they said it was full and I couldn’t park there.
When I tried to call City Parking to request a refund, my call was never returned and I tried and left messages two more times.

0 star! the parking valet assigned on May 3, 2026, at approximately 3:46 PM.
My family and I had already prepaid for parking online before arriving. When we reached the valet area, we informed the valet attendant that our Tesla was in valet mode with a temporary access code, and we provided the code to him. The moment he heard there was a code, he immediately turned his back on us, canceled our parking, and mumbled, “Oh, we can’t accept codes here.”
We were all shocked, as this was our first time experiencing such treatment. We then politely told him that if the code was not allowed, we could easily remove it right away. However, he responded rudely by saying, “It’s too late now, you should’ve said that in the first place.”
We explained that he had turned his back on us and made a decision without even allowing us the chance to clarify or resolve the issue. Despite this, he refused to take our car.
His behavior was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional toward my wife, my father-in-law, and myself. We felt dismissed and unfairly treated throughout the entire interaction. Since our parking had already been paid for online, this made the situation even more frustrating.
Employees assigned to customer-facing roles should know how to communicate respectfully and handle situations professionally. Based on this experience, I strongly believe this valet attendant needs additional customer service training, and management should review whether he is suitable for that position.
I hope this complaint is taken seriously so no other customers have to go through the same experience.

RUDE STAFF
RUDE STAFF. CASHIER, BALD GUY, working on that weekend. RUSHING me even tho he saw me with a baby. CLASSLESS. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I PAID FOR ALL DAY PARKING BUT THIS GUY CAME RUSHING ME AND CURSING ME AND READY TO ATTACK ME. I WANNA COMPLAIN TO THE MANAGER BUT I'M AFRAID THIS BALD GUY MIGHT LOOK FOR ME AND HURT MY FAMILY.
Horrible sevice..
We spent 5 wonderful days in New York City and had an amazing time with our kids. Unfortunately, our experience at River Place Garage on the last day completely ruined the ending of our trip.
We made a reservation and actually left about 2 hours earlier than our reserved time. However, because we entered just 5 minutes before the reservation start time, we were charged an extra $14 when picking up the car.
There was no clear notice or warning about any early entry fee. What made it worse was that the person picking up the car had already tipped the staff, only to be told afterward to go to the counter and pay more.
The staff at the counter were quite rude and seemed only focused on collecting the extra charge, without any effort to explain or help.
It’s very frustrating that they charge extra for entering 5 minutes early, yet provide no consideration or adjustment for leaving 2 hours early. This felt extremely unfair and left a very negative final impression on an otherwise great trip.
As a parking facility used by many travelers, this kind of experience doesn’t just affect one transaction—it can leave a lasting negative impression of New York City itself. That’s very disappointing.
I would strongly recommend others to be cautious when parking here.

Great location, large garage, plenty of staff, and one of the fastest pickups out of any subterrain garage.
Check in was horrible
I was upset that the gentleman had me leave the parking garage to confirm the reservation. I was having difficulty because you had No Wifi for customer use and the signal was terrible. In addition he refused to allow me to walk up the ramp to get service, he had me leave the parking garage and return once I had the QR code confirmation. Once I returned his co- worker didn't even ask for the QR code and gave me a ticket and sent me on my way.
First time used and got scammed
First time to NY and purchased parking via APP. Drove into two garages along East 53rd street. On each occasion showed them the app booking and they said it was not their car park booking. Drove into City Parking, 420 and 53rd street at 06.42 pm and the parking attendant said, YES, this was the right place with the right booking. Went to pick up my car the next day and a new parking attendant said nope wrong car park. Would not release my car until I paid $49, as I was heading off to the Airport to catch my flight back to the UK, so was forced to pay. I emailed them asking for my money back for dishonest information having paid twice. Customer services say 'NO' sorry about the mistake, and the assistant will be spoken to, but you ain't getting any of your money back!

Quick and stinky
They’re quick, and haven’t broken or scratched anything on the car. I would give 5 stars, except the garage reeks of garbage and makes the car smell bad when I receive it. I have to drive with the windows open for several minutes. This is the location at 101 w 56.
Unacceptable wait time for Car
Park my car in the garage and gave the attendance specific information on when I was leaving the next morning. I asked if I needed to call he said no just text. I woke up in the morning and sent a text before coming down with about 15 minutes advance notice. I had to wait half an hour for my car when I got down. Unacceptable. I used a competitor parking option the next night.

I pulled into the garage and no one was there to take my car. Another car pulled in behind me and we both sat there. Waiting. A man walked in with a cup of coffee and went through a locked door and still we waited. There was a paper sign on the desk that said to call Mohamed. I called the number twice and no answer. About 15 minutes later someone came to take my car. I was late to a very important appointment on 6th ave because of this.

The car was left in reverse, it drained the battery and wasn't able to start up and had to call roadside assistance. No one was able to talk to me and been left ignored.
