Stop forcing American rudeness down our throats.

I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding your refusal to amend the way I am addressed in correspondence. Specifically, your insistence on using my first name by default is unacceptable, and your claim that this cannot be changed raises serious concerns.

In the UK, it is standard and respectful to address individuals using a title and surname unless they have explicitly consented otherwise. Your use of first names without permission is presumptive, culturally insensitive, and disrespectful—especially to customers from backgrounds such as Indian and other Asian cultures, where such familiarity is considered inappropriate.

You claim it is not possible to alter this, yet there is no technical or legal reason preventing a competent organisation from allowing an “Address As” field. Many institutions already offer this, demonstrating respect for customer preferences, formality, and cultural norms.

Furthermore, under the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK GDPR, individuals have the right to expect their personal data to be used fairly, lawfully, and in a transparent manner. This includes how you process and display our names. Using a form of address that I have not consented to—and refusing to change it—may constitute a breach of these principles, particularly the right to rectification and accuracy under Article 5(1)(d) and Article 16.

The claim that first-name usage is “friendlier” is unfounded and rooted in US marketing practices, not UK customer service standards. It is not your place to decide the level of familiarity in your communications with customers.

“A Masterclass in Chaos

“A Masterclass in Chaos: The Credit Card Wave Debacle”

Ah, the credit card wave. What a visionary idea: implement it poorly, withdraw it even more poorly, and leave a trail of chaos that could only be described as “inspired incompetence.” Step forward, NCO Europe, the heroes of this tale, ready to swoop in with their error-strewn rescue operation. Spoiler alert: it didn’t go well.

Picture this: I paid my balance in full to show a glorious, indisputable zero. Not a penny left, not a crumb. But wait! Enter the NCO Europe team, the masterminds of mathematical reinterpretation, to insist I owed a mysterious £185. After several emails and plenty of patience on my part (saintly levels, really), they graciously admitted I was correct. Relief, you might think? Oh no, this was just the overture.

Their next act? A sheepish email claiming they’d made a mistake. But fret not, for they promised to fix everything. And they did! Except, of course, they didn’t. After I escalated the matter to their CEO (because apparently, competence doesn’t trickle down), everything was corrected. Or so I thought.

Fast forward to the pièce de résistance: they slapped a missed payment marker on my credit file. Yes, my credit file. Despite the fact it was indisputable—their word, not mine—that I had paid on time and in full. Their innovative approach to facts is truly breathtaking.

If you’re looking for a lesson in ineptitude, unprofessionalism, and the art of turning simple arithmetic into a Kafkaesque nightmare, NCO Europe delivers like no other. Bravo to the entire team for redefining customer service standards—just not in a good way.

Faulty Verification Systems

I applied for Chetwood's Easy Access Savings Account on 25/10 and received an email response 'We need to run some additional checks to complete your application.' On 30/10 I received another email which stated 'Thank you for your application for a new Easy Access savings account. Unfortunately, we're unable to open a savings account for you.
This is usually because we're unable to verify your information electronically.'

I have lived at the same address for almost 30 years and have had the same bank account for almost 40 years, and yet Chetwood were unable to verify my identity!! I currently have savings accounts with 10 other providers all of whom were able to verify my identity online.

It is obvious therefore that Chetwood's systems are faulty as they are not able to verify me when numerous other banks and building societies have been able to.

I feel insulted and have made an official complaint. I will be following this up with Money Saving Expert (where I found Chetwood's product) and advising MSE that they should not be listing Chetwood's product due to Chetwood's faulty verification systems

No confidence

'This is money' site advertising 'Chetwoodbank'savings account. I applied and set up account on line. However, site doesn't inspire confidence as it is very basic design without 'logout' or 'delete account ' button. Having read comments on this site I don't feel confident continuing and am concerned for private details I submitted. Sorry, I can't recommend Chetwoodbank.co.uk.

Risposta di Chetwood Financial

Dear Mr Huddleston, I'd welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns regarding our savings account application website so have requested your contact information privately through TrustPilot.

In the meantime, I can confirm that although there isn't a 'delete account' function built into the website, it is easy to close your account by contacting our customer service team. There is a 'log out' button in the top right hand corner of the screen - depending whether or not you're using a mobile or desktop device, this can just look like a 'power' or 'stand by' icon that you'd typically see on a remote control. Our UX team is currently working to improve this experience so that it's clearer that the icon means 'Log out'.

In terms of how we use the data you've supplied to us, this is explained in our Privacy Policy which you can read at https://chetwoodbank.co.uk/privacy-policy. There is a section titled 'How long will we keep your personal data?' which explains how long we'll keep your information recorded securely within our systems.

worst interview experience

i had an interview at chetwood for the role of salesforce administrator, after two rounds of interview the hiring manager said they will be getting back to me with an update with in a week. but i didn’t get any response from them even after contacting them via email and calls. the recruiter who contacted me about the role said he left the company and he can’t do anything about it.

why raise a vacancy when you don’t want to hire a candidate?

my experience with the chetwood team was pathetic.
