I had a lovely experience with Cheffins. I would especially like to mention Angie, who worked incredibly hard for us. She is one of the kindest and most dedicated people I have ever met. She even supported us during weekends, despite it being her time off.

If I could give zero stars, I would. We enquired about a highly sought-after 5-bedroom letting and were told there was only one specific day available for viewings. We completely rearranged our schedules and drove nearly an hour (a 2-hour round trip) to attend.
Upon arrival, the agent was nowhere to be found. When we called, it turned out the agent had booked us into a completely different 3-bedroom property at a totally different location. Because of their internal administrative blunder, we missed out on the correct property entirely, as it went under offer to people who were actually given the correct address.
When we raised this with the branch manager, Christina, instead of apologizing professionally and offering a solution, she actively tried to shift the blame onto us. She argued that because their automated confirmation email contained the wrong address, it was our job to proofread their agent's data entry before traveling. She then bizarrely claimed that because the property was high demand, it didn’t matter that we were sent to the wrong house because we "might not have got it anyway."
An absolute masterclass in gaslighting and shocking customer service. They refuse to take responsibility for their own staff's human errors. If you are a landlord, be aware that this agency is actively losing you good, proceedable tenants through pure incompetence and then alienating them afterwards. Avoid at all costs.

We rented through Cheffins for two years and had a great experience throughout. Angie German in particular was outstanding, always responsive, genuinely helpful, and incredibly patient. When our move-out got complicated (we relocated internationally and had to coordinate everything remotely), Angie went above and beyond to help us work through the checkout process smoothly. She was proactive, fair, and kept us informed at every stage. The deposit return was handled transparently and resolved quickly. If you're renting in Cambridge, you're in very good hands with Cheffins and especially with Angie.

Have been dealing with the loss of my dad, and probate house sale, contracts were were supposed to be exchanged after 5 months of sheer stress,and not much help from rhia,then all of a sudden I got told the buyers lawyer has gone of long term sick, allegedly,no apologies just saying to me it would as long if you went with anyone else, absolutely no interest in my sale,(one house,one mortgage chain free)the excuses I've heard,I'm also waiting for a hip replacement and in pain,and Friday was the last straw,I've always championed cheffins,not anymore, unhelpful,rude,and a bad attitude

We were genuinely shocked by the unprofessional behaviour of the Cheffins staff handling a rental property in Cambridge.
Two different employees contacted us regarding the same property. Initially, Lauren Sweeney arranged the viewing by email, but as she was going on holiday, she passed our details to her colleague, Angie German, who was supposed to conduct the viewing.

We were relocating due to my husband’s job and travelled 1.5 hours with our three‑month‑old baby to attend the appointment. We arrived seven-five minutes early. The property door was closed and no one from Cheffins was there. After waiting for ten minutes, we called Angie German to ask where she was. She claimed she had been at the property on time but had left because “we were not there”. This was simply untrue. When we asked why she did not call us before leaving, she replied that she was not obliged to contact us.

The entire conversation was dishonest and dismissive. For us, this was extremely upsetting — travelling such a long distance with a small baby only to be left standing outside with no communication was stressful and deeply disappointing.

This experience showed a complete lack of professionalism, reliability and basic courtesy.

I was kept informed every step of the way, nothing was too much for Cheffins, my. House purchase was made more exciting as they negotiated a lot of furniture and white goods left by the owner making moving in really easy. The keys were ready early,. Thank you Cheffings for all you did.

I have been very impressed with Cheffins Saffron Walden. The whole experience of selling a property is such a stressful experience. My sale falling into that category very much so.
But the staff at cheffins have been nothing but professional & polite throughout the whole experience.

Sophie was amazing throughout the starting process. She replied to emails quickly and helped us feel confident in what we were signing up for as first time private renters. It was a quick process and we were able to find an amazing house that fit our needs. Other organisations aren’t as attentive to what we were asking for, after a long wait of seeing houses that weren’t looked after well and the agents not enthusiastic, cheffins was a breath of fresh air. Clean house, staff are kind and always looking to help even if it isn’t their property to help with. I cannot recommend enough. Thank you

Johnathan is such an experienced estate agent, he knew exactly how to weed out the time wasters and hone in on the serious buyers, lining us up with the best buyer for the property in no time at all. He kept us fully informed throughout the whole selling process, with at times, daily updates.
We couldn’t have been more impressed with the service he provided. He took the stress out of a complicated process, especially when we hit a problem, enabling both parties to stay focused and on board through to completion.

We've just exchanged on our house sale with Cheffins and we are so grateful to Rhia and Ella. They were always quick to respond, reassuring and kept everything moving for us. We felt supported and well informed throughout. A brilliant team - we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

What makes the 5 star rating is the people / person at Cheffins , Ellie Hinchley , great person and a pleasure to deal with and this lady is a great asset to Cheffins !!

My wife and I initially chose Cheffins from our list of three agents, because one did not bother to contact us, the other one pestered us with mail and texts. Cheffins were focussed on help and their support where it was essential. 2025 seemed to be a difficult market and we needed all the help they could give. A sale was achieved, it took a year and support of many Cheffins people in our case, we are happy to say we would certainly choose them again.

What a whirlwind of a process.

Firstly, massive thank you to the team at Cheffins for helping see us through to completion for our sale and also liaising with our purchase estate agents on our behalf.

At one point during this process I called Leila to tell her we were pulling out of both the sale and the purchase. Both. At the same time. She absorbed this information like a professional, reassured me everything would work out, and somehow she was right.

The sale itself was genuinely fraught. I think I've managed to gain at least 3 extra grey hairs BUT Leila was a steady, unflappable presence throughout. As was everyone at Cheffins: Holly, Steve, and Charlotte all deserve a special mention. Professional, approachable and somehow always available when you're spiralling at an inconvenient hour. Also their photographer was brilliant so special mention to her too. She did an incredible job with the pictures for our home.

Would we move house again? Absolutely not. We are never doing this to ourselves again. But if some terrible lapse in judgement led us back to the market, we'd go straight back to Cheffins and we'd recommend them to anyone without hesitation.

Everyone in the team was professional, helpful, organised and good at communicating with us. We received great advice and they managed to sell a house that wasn’t an easy one to sell. Thank you, Ellen and Oliver

Max Cutsforth handled the sale of a property in the Castle Camps area for us. It wasn't straightforward - I was managing things remotely from abroad, and we had a buyer fall through partway through the process, which meant going back to market. Max took it all in his stride. He was realistic and honest about pricing from the start, proactive about getting viewings booked, and handled a tricky negotiation with real skill and patience. Communication was excellent - he always kept me in the loop without me having to chase. When things got stuck between solicitors, he stepped in and got things moving again. He genuinely cared about getting the right result, and it showed. I'd recommend Max and Cheffins to anyone selling in the area.

We are very satisfied with the help from Cheffins regarding the sale of our property, we are Norwegian and not familiar with the laws and regulations in England but it has not been a problem as they have been very understanding and patient. Highly recommended.
