Scam

They claimed the refund and have kept it. Refusing to acknowledge emails/calls. Brooksdales are just scammers. Avoid at all costs. First contact was August 23, and have been chasing it since.

Company has received a tax refund from…

Company has received a tax refund from HMRC back in mid 2023 on my behalf and have yet to forward me on my payment. When trying to contact the company directly you don't get an answer not to mention they deduct nearly 50% of your refund total.

They applied to HMRC for a tax refund and received a payment,
Without my consent.
I have not received a penny.
The form submitted had incorrect nat ins code, and my signature was forged.
I have not asked brooksdale to do any work on my behalf.,
And They have not replied to any of my attempts to contact them.
BROOKSDALE HAVE SCAMMED ME

Brooksdale stole a HMRC tax…

Brooksdale have stolen a HMRC tax refund from my mother in law. They forged her signature on a claim form. No answer to calls made to their line. Avoid! We are contacting the police.

Awful company
Did this without consent and still have my money. Now cannot get through to anyone no response in email. It’s terrible. Done illegally and keeping your money is stealing basically

after writting a review brooksdale replyed on the 9th jan 2024.once again asking for details address,bank details,proof of id, the details were sent on the 9th jan,the proof of id was emailed to the web site supplied by brooksdale,and delivered.here we are on the 24/01/24. 16 day later. no reply from.brooksdale.no better than scammers.

Brooksdale have the decency to return…

If you have sent the cheque back to HMRC then your records would show if and when it was cashed, so please confirm as HMRC could see when you cashed it into your account. If it hasn’t been cashed then can you forward it to me so I can return to them

Brooksdale have the decency to return the money you have retained of mine to the HMRC. My account was scammed and I reported this to Action Fraud.

Be aware

I have had a review taken down by trust pilot as this company pays for the trust pilot service and can contest reviews. I will not go into detail about my experience as I can see many others are having similar experiences. My review is to warn you to be mindful of checking out the full details before signing up with this company. The company has been spoken about in a BBC documentary, HMRC are aware of them and I noticed that they have now set up a new website address. They are genuine however their information is misleading and does not openly tell you that you sign a letter of authority giving them permission to be known by the HMRC as your tax agent. The money gets paid directly to them. If you want a refund you can directly apply to HMRC and they can give you guidance on completing forms.

Avoid

Avoid so I made a claim in June time hmrc sent the cheque to them in September I keep emailing and calling them and they have asked me to contact hmrc and ask for cheque numbers etc I then 2 weeks ago told them your the agent I'm sure you can contact them as this is supposed to be a service that's why your getting half of it well so it seems now all of it I've given up with them but I will be reporting to action fraud and the relevant authorities

it's all a big scam

it's all a big scam. I submitted all the requested documents in August. 5 days have passed since then and I only received a message from my mother saying 8-12 weeks but maybe a little more. After 22 weeks, I don't see much chance of that.I wrote to them in vain, but I didn't get any response.

new developments. I called the tax office today, 26/02. which asked me to request information about a possible tax refund. they informed me that Brooksdale submitted an application on my behalf on 25/08. they rejected this request on 29/09 and then sent the return to them. 4876 pounds. the company didn't tell me anything about it, and the last time they wrote that in January they will only process the accounts from August last year. According to the tax authority, approximately 10,000 complaints have already been received about the company

i am still waiting for my refund from…

i am still waiting for my refund from july 2023 despite sending all my info still not rec it, i should have read the small print when they got a refund for me when it was claims guys, as they are now taking 2/3 of my rebate from hmrc that i have overpaid so they have not got the refund on my behalf yet and held on to the £200 despicable company !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brooksdale Ltd are not reliable or trustworthy

Brooksdale Ltd approached me in April 2023 to reclaim my tax overpayment, I agreed as I thought it easier to let them claim it for me.
I had several ‘update’ emails from them initially, stating that HMRC had a backlog and it could take up to 12 weeks. However I have proof from HMRC that the refund was made to Brooksdale on the 17th May 2023. As yet, now January 2024, I have not received either my part of the refund or any correspondence from Brooksdale Ltd to say they have received the claim.
I have emailed them several times to ask about this and get the same standard response blaming HMRC for their backlog, when they have already claimed MY refund.
In my experience, Brooksdale Ltd are not a reliable or trustworthy organisation, they do not communicate truthfully, they retain money owed to you and do not pay you your percentage.

Avoid at all costs

This company told my 80 year old mother that she has an HMRC refund due. The agent who called himself Derek and was very plausible encouraged her to download apps and pay amounts to someone called Simon Williams and to tell the bank that she knows him from old, other amounts have also gone from her account. Thankfully the bank have noticed suspicious behaviour and have blocked her account. If this is a bone fide Brooksdale agent shame on you for duping a vulnerable person
