My wie and I ordered food. Hers arrived and she ate. I waited. finally she approached a server and my food had been waiting the whole while( 10 minutes) when it arrived ( carried by hostess) I asked for an additional coffee. It never arrived. Staff parroted the same response "sorry about that"
lousy service.
*Disappointing Experience at Pavilion Road Branch*
We recently moved to the Sloane Square area and have been exploring local cafés and restaurants. Bread Ahead on Pavilion Road looked promising, but my visit today (19/12/25, around 2-3pm) was unfortunately disappointing.
I asked the cashier if vegetarian pizza was available, and he told me only margherita was, so l ordered two.
While waiting, I saw the chefs preparing other varieties, including vegetarian. I politely asked a female staff member if I could change my order. She checked with the chef, who confirmed a vegetarian pizza would be ready in two minutes.
Despite this, she insisted I take the original margherita order. I explained that I had just heard the chef confirm the vegetarian pizza was nearly ready and could see it displayed in the stand in front of me-but she still refused to make the switch without explanation. This was both confusing and frustrating.
What made the experience worse was the dismissive and unhelpful attitude. I felt talked over and disregarded, which was uncomfortable and unnecessarily embarrassing. It gave the impression that older pizzas were being pushed to me while fresher ones were being held back for others, which felt unfair as the staff seemed prejudiced against certain customers, offering better service to others.
In the end, I was told to refund and pay again for the vegetarian pizza, despite the delay and poor handling of the situation.
As new residents keen to support local businesses, this experience was disheartening. Bread Ahead has unfortunately lost a potential regular customer. I hope the team reflects on how to offer fair, respectful service going forward-especially in such a diverse and competitive area.

Probably the kindest and most efficient team and customer service at every turn. The restaurant was lovely and all the staff so friendly and I have never felt so well looked after when booking a class and having to change the date last minute. Thank you! Also the donuts are unreal! Xx
If you’re going to the Manchester pop…
If you’re going to the Manchester pop up in Harvey Nichols then don’t bother. Go to Gooey instead, the doughnuts are twice the size, cheaper and better. Not worth the hype or the money, what a skank, £4.50 for a doughnut 🤣 laughable considering they are the size of a normal supermarket doughnut.
Bread, Soft Cheese and Butter Making Masterclass with Ope
I attended the “Bread, Soft Cheese and Butter Making Masterclass” by Bread Ahead at Wembley, which was led by Instructor Ope, who was supported by Jacqui. It was not my first class with Bread Ahead but it was my first class at their Wembley location. I loved the location: it was wonderful to see a working bakery in action, which was visible from the classroom above.
Ope is a phenomenal instructor, she clearly shares her knowledge and answers each and every question with a considered and thorough answer and is also a lot of fun. This class was busy but totally achievable: a full day of cheese, butter and bread making. The herb goats cheese that we made was the ‘real deal’, delicious Labneh, served with confit garlic and lovely salted butter. Seeded Fougasse, a Rustic Wholemeal Country Bloomer, Herb Dinner Rolls and Date Soda Bread were all stunningly executed, lovely crumb, crust and flavour. A great class that I would 100% recommend. Ope, thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge and for another wonderful Bread Ahead experience.
They almost never have bread for sale altough they call themselves a bread factory
• Staff ignoring/avoiding customers
• for a "bread factory" they rarely have bread for sale, and when they do it's always gummy and old.
Perfect Pizza
Pizza delicious and didn’t have to wait long. Service good and staff friendly.
Avoid the baking class
What was advertised as a 3.5-hour tart baking class turned out to be a rushed 2-hour assembly line. All the ingredients were pre-made before we even arrived, so there was no actual baking involved. Instead, we were barked at in a borderline military fashion to put everything together—no guidance, no checking, and certainly no teaching. I left feeling frustrated and disappointed, having learned absolutely nothing. Honestly, I would’ve gotten more out of following a recipe at home. It would’ve been cheaper, less stressful, and probably more fun.

Bread Ahead: Where Food Safety Goes to Die - A £95 Lesson in Cross-Contamination
Let me save you £95 and potential illness by sharing my experience at Bread Ahead’s doughnut workshop.
If you enjoy watching basic concepts of food safety protocols being trampled while the staff and upper management simply shrugs their shoulders at you, you’ve come to the right place.
Picture this: an industrial kitchen where hand-washing is treated as an optional suggestion rather than a fundamental requirement other than at the very start of the class. No guidance on cross-contamination, workspace hygiene, or even the basic concept of not touching your phone without re-washing your hands. But wait, it gets better.
Despite their workshops’ Joining Instructions prohibiting any participants with cold/flu/Covid symptoms (which have - *gasp* - conveniently vanished from their website since pointing this out to them), I had the pleasure of sharing the workspace with Patient Zero, who treated my workstation like her personal laboratory for breeding germs.
When this person literally turned around from her station and COUGHED ONTO MY DOUGH, the chef's professional response? “The deep fryer will kill the germs.” Brilliant - just what I paid £95 for.
The sick participant’s greatest moments included: nose-blowing (without re-washing her hands), picking her teeth with her bare fingers (without re-washing her hands), and treating my workspace like her personal coffee table. All while the staff stood by, apparently having graduated from the “See No Evil, Hear No Evil” school of food safety.
The chef also suggested not to share the contaminated doughnuts with immunocompromised people, which speaks volumes. Imagine a business fully admitting that their products might not be safe for vulnerable people, yet seeing no issue with this.
If I stood outside a Bread Ahead and told prospective customers that their doughnuts had been coughed on by a sick person, AT ANY POINT IN THEIR CREATION, I can guarantee that the customers would turn around and go somewhere else.
When I raised these concerns with management the next day, their response was both delayed and dismissive. It’s clear they consider basic hygiene an inconvenient burden rather than a vital necessity.
They refused to refund my £95 for what essentially became a masterclass in cross-contamination. I’m still waiting for a refund on a separate workshop after 10 working days, because there’s no way you could pay ME to attend another one of these workshops.
Want to experience a kitchen environment that would make Food Standards Agency weep? Bread Ahead is your destination. They’ve truly mastered the art of turning £95 and your trust in a business into regret, a breeding ground for germs, and a reason never to set foot in there again.
Save your money - there are plenty of other bakeries that understand the revolutionary concepts of basic hygiene.
PS - Yes, I did get a cold after the workshop.
Amazing service!
Just been there this morning. Good food, but the sevice was amazing! Mirella, you were great!
Poor service
My friend and I visited breadhead on Saturday the 21st of Sept 24.
The food was delicious.the only problem was the service! The waiting persons were very slow, we had to ask two different people for our drinks and some ketchup.
There seemed effort to ensure our satisfaction
The Tea Room
The bread ahead tea room Chelsea was a brilliant experience. It was booked as a treat for family visiting from abroad and it didn't disappoint. Lovely food and the staff Reese and Kelly were fab!!!!!
On a side note the toilets downstairs were disgusting ( really foul) otherwise it would have been 5 stars. Please improve on the cleaning schedule.

I went into Bread Ahead today in Pavillion Road to buy some lunch and I asked the assistant if the eggs were organic honestly she hardly knew what I meant by this and said, having asked another person, they are brown eggs - I mean this takes ignorance to a new level and show either no common sense or staff training. I then ordered a doughnut to take away and it was the doughnut with cream on the top of it and she puts it in a bag and I questioned her whether it should not be in a box and she said oh no it is the same! No customer care here and could not be bothered!

Avoid this baking school. There are better ones out there
I have done a few baking courses with breadahead which were not perfect but okay. The last course I did in December 2023, celebration bakes was absolutely terrible. One of the enriched dough recipes should have had mixed peel, raisins etc as part of the filling- however, this was just omitted. None of us on the course did not know that this should have been include, as none of us had a recipe booklet to follow. This is clearly a cost saving exercise- one for not providing all of the ingredients to make the recipe advertised; not providing the actual recipe booklet to follow so we can write our own notes and of course to correct any mistakes in weight measurement of ingredients. Thankfully I wrote notes on my phone, so when I did eventually receive the recipe booklet some days later I could cross reference. Sure enough there are mistakes in the measurements. The instructor was quite rude and not once come around to see how individuals were getting on.
I have also paid for courses online and was part of their unlimited subscription- courses would be cancelled at the last minute - the organisation of the cookery school leaves a lot to be desired. I for one will not be returning. Cost saving and getting the most out of people seem to be the ethos for Breadahead. I would avoid. Try Richard Bertinet cookery school instead- very organised and they care about their patrons.
Incompetent staff.
Food and drink is good. Staff on the other hand are incompetent. Queues at tge counter whilst 3 members of staff at the coffee machine. Food not heated properly and had to be re-done, order one type of coffee and get another. This lot are persistently poor.
I typically take a coffee break and…The food is delicious, the coffee is perfect, and the atmosphere is delightful.
I typically take a coffee break and enjoy my chai latte at Breadahead Wembley. It's always a pleasant experience to be greeted by the young waitress (black long hair). On most occasions, I bring along my little baby boy, who was delighted when he received a generous portion of freshly baked bread during our last visit. I'm hopeful that there will be more music events taking place there again.
The pizza they serve is perhaps the most exceptional I've ever tasted, and my older son wholeheartedly agrees. It's wonderful to take advantage of the Wembley One application, which offers a 15% discount. The food is delicious, the coffee is perfect, and the atmosphere is delightful.
Did their bread making course (4 hours)…
Did their bread making course (4 hours) yesterday with 4 colleagues and absolutely adored it. Highly Recommend
Bread ahead in Wembley
Bread ahead in Wembley, the pizza was made with fresh dough and was delicious, the service was lacking, wrong glasses for wine, menu was cut down, very Smokey, didn’t open the wine, no sauces offered, came over said we close in ten can you pay now.
Then they added a service charge without telling us.
Any one thing isn’t a problem but all together disappointing.
Doesn’t take much to give good service.
