My whole reservation process was put off by the way the Aster negotiators were so eager to take my money rather than dealing and acting on my concerns, not forgetting ‘the house will be offered to the next person if we don’t get your money’ threat
Hopefully Aster will improve in the future via some better customer interaction training, until then, it’s a no from me

I have been a tenant with aster group for many years . I have kept my home and garden to a high clean tidy standard and. Respected the property. I love my home very much
So After looking forward to my kitchen replacement coming my way i finally got to choose my options and date .however the men that turned up was grumpy unfriendly and made me feel uncomfortable. The person I am tried to be chirpy offered them both a coffee unaccepted coffee that’s fine . However Everything I asked was bluntly refused. Ie if I buy my own worktop please could I have that fitted instead of the not nice choice replied no do it yourself . This came with every question. They said We been done over before so won’t be doing anything. I was told to buy my own extra cupboard if wanted even though I wasn’t offered the correct amount.I want to be happy with the plan however as I needed to get to the dr I went with what they said . Thinking what was that about it was a awfull experience.On noticing a error the next day ,I called the guy and was told I’d get a call back from him as he didn’t have plan in front of him . Nothing . I have messaged and emailed . Nothing . This has really upset me and am now dreading the new kitchen being fit as it’s not right . Is the workman going to be the same . This maybe just be another council house to them but to me it’s my home I love. I felt like I was some undeserving great unwashed tenant. This is not on . I am really upset . Yes I’m greatful for a new kitchen I pay my rent so why not .

I am writing this review purely to praise Anna Dillon, the Resale and Staircasing Manager.
Anna was appointed to me when I bought the remaining shares of my property and demonstrated diligence, empathy and an eagerness to solve all queries quickly, throughout the whole process.
During what was overall a lower than average experience with Aster, Anna stood out as being an example to the business as to how things should be done. She responded promptly, in a friendly, down to earth manner and I was constantly impressed by her customer service, which was far better than even that of my solicitor who I was paying!
Anna deserves significant recognition for her hard work and customer care, for going above and beyond and representing Aster Group in such a positive way.
I would like to again pass on my thanks to her for all of her hard work and support throughout the process and wish her the the best of success with her career- Anna I hope you're promoted soon, you deserve it! Anna, you get 5 stars. As an experience overall however Aster were slow, and did not care about any of the snags that I had, as I was shared ownership it was clear that my purchase didnt matter and the damage to my property before I even moved in was not going to be repaired.

All 3 turned up on the correct date & time I was told, they even popped around the day before for a quick chat about what work they were carrying out, I had my front fence & back fence & 2 gates replaced, they were so polite, friendly & didn't leave any mess behind, the actual jobs are spot on aswell. None of them left early, even with the winds & the rain we had they stayed out there to complete the job, so it was finished on the day they promised😊 extremely happy with them & my new fences 😊

Avoid at all cost.
I’m charged over £1000 a month but my neighbours whome are also with aster in the same houses as mine are only paying £630 a month they refuse to speak to me about this or let me speak with anyone who could explain it.
I have been through trauma in this house and have struggled to be here due to what happened here, they say they support their customers but really they don’t care and have 0 lack of empathy, I lost my 9 day old baby and they wanted to know if I was going to pay rent.
Lots of jobs have been done and most are bodge jobs done cheap as possible in one case I had to get them to come and redo it because I was that bad.
I was doing a swap to another home of which aster told me i had to take my shed down and remove it (it came with the house) the swap failed and aster are now saying I’m no longer allowed a shed! Yet all houses on the row with aster came with sheds.
Garden floods, front garden we were told not to touch and it overgrowns on to the stairs leading up to each home with weeds they send someone out once every 2-3 years.
In all honesty I think aster are one massive money making company who only care for themselves and not the people in their property’s.

Before I start, I fully understand house swaps are “sold as seen”, but had your surveyors do a proper job on this house, things might be very different.
We did a house swap, as we had been desperately needing a bigger property for over 4 years, when this house came up. We have children with disabilities and my wife is also disabled. So space was needed and to make life easier for our family.
When we came to visit the property numerous times, the house was in a state, but more clutter and lack of cleanliness than anything structural that we could see. So to us it was going to be; move in, clean it top to bottom, decorate it and get carpet and job done. Oh how wrong we were!
The days after we moved in a cupboard fell off the kitchen wall, my wife burnt herself on a plug that she had used in a socket that clearly hadn’t been checked properly, we found huge cracks in many walls after removing years of wallpaper, the front door had previously (previous tenant) been kicked in (by the police) and hadn’t been fixed, the concrete water/rain skirting above the window fell off (luckily we weren’t stood there when it happened). We then had someone check the outhouse to find that it needs new lintels as one in particular is pretty much non existent, the bath has been put in the wrong was around, the shower is faulty and runs at 9.59KWH which is ridiculous, the sink waste pipe just goes into a hole, no fixture to hold it in place, the previous tenant was asked to do things before he moved in and he hadn’t done those jobs at all.
We had an engineer come out to check a leak in the bathroom and he broken the bath. Thankfully that means a new bathtub the right way around as my wife can not use the shower due to the huge incline and the anti slip guards being the wrong way, and someone came to fix a leak with the toilet and made it worse to the point it leaked into our hallway! When the engineer came out (as emergency on a Saturday) for that he was given the wrong information and didn’t have the right parts to sort it and was informed to close off the only toilet in the house, luckily he found what he needed and magically fixed it.
When we looked at the property, we were made aware by the previous tenant that the kitchen was due to be replaced. We had mentioned this several times to aster and they responded stating that it was possible it needed doing but they had lost paperwork on this. Everyone who has attended the property has said it needs a new kitchen badly. When aster reviewed this they said they wouldn’t put in a new kitchen despite cupboards falling off, because we had put in a freestanding fridge freezer. Absolutely baffling.
The ceilings in the living room, dining room and downstairs hallway are all artex and contain asbestos which should have been sorted a long time ago.
Our kitchen door should be a fire safety door but ours isn’t. It also has an inch gap between the bottom of the door and the floor. This will not slow down the spread of a fire.
This has made my wife so ill and depressed. We just want a safe, nice, clean house to live in. It’s not a huge ask. It’s going to cost us thousands to plaster all the walls, redecorate, put in a new kitchen and re do both front and back gardens due to the way they’ve been treated. We are a low income family because of my wife’s health and can not afford this.

Aster are a terrible housing company, I have a shared ownership house.
Had lots of antisocial behaviour from neighbours, noise complaints and they do nothing.
Rent has increased lots since I first got the house making it more difficult to afford this house now, all this when other home owners sub let and rent out their homes (against tenancy * mortgage)
Made various complaints about service charges and grounds maintenance not being done, leaving the estate looking like a mess.
Recently had a threatening solictors letter because I had not provided a gas safety certificate, threats of £1,500 court costs or imprisonment if I don’t provide one 😂
The attitude of Aster staff is poor, they don’t take complaints seriously or follow their own code, more people need to complain to the ombudsman about Aster.
Time to contact my local MP about these rogue housing landlords who are abusing their powers with tenants and shared ownership owners, they suck you in and screw you over with rent and service charges.
Worst thing I have ever done buying a shared ownership house with Aster.
Only option some people have to get on the housing ladder is shared ownership, trapped!
Sell my house, easier said than done!

Nigel from Aster came out to treat mould in my flat again today - this has been an ongoing issue for months. I spoke with him when he arrived and explained what has happened in terms of treatment etc. He then went away, spent 20 mins on the phone to his manager to find out what was going on - he came back to inform me that there were more issues than just ceiling/wall mould and that there would be external repair work done. He could've easily left having spoken to me for 2 mins, but he went above and beyond to keep me up to date on what is happening. Thank you Nigel!

over the past two years i have had 2 weeks without heating and hot water, then couple of 2-4 days with out it also.
they blame me(which is difficult to understand when I rent and I am not a professional heating engineer) i have a child under 4, who can’t be warm in the winter (those 2 weeks) or bath when been out for the day, it’s inhuman and shocking. what is a nice home without the bare necessities. i’m stressed and angry that this appears normal for this to be ok.
every time they come out, they just put a plaster over the problem and not get to the case of the issue, which is usually 4 days later,
i feel anxiety over when is it next going to pack in; i have been patient for 2 years accepting the apologies but now actually feel ganged up on that they think it’s fine to leave this problem for days on end with child under 4 with asthma.
when they finally come it’s not there fault but mine. has anyone else experienced this with the company?

The response from Aster Group to our request for an urgent repair was swift, considerate & helpful. They acknowledged our personal difficulties, (being elderly & disabled), and sent an operative to restore our hot water the next day. We were so grateful to have this level of service. Purchased a shared ownership off these cowboys 2 years ago. We had a big defect on the outside which we had to fight tooth and nail for a year to get it fixed. A few weeks ago we had a leak under the bath only to notice two of the legs hadn't been fixed which caused the grout to crack and leak for 2 years. Not to mention getting charged for grounds maintenance when they dont actually do any grounds maintenance. Good luck trying to get anywhere with the staff at their head office in Devizes they are rude and will treat you with contempt. The rent has gone up every year I have been here. Avoid a shared ownership with this mob the like plaque. You'll seriously regret making contact with them. They shouldn't be allowed to operate, simple as that. They need to be brought up in parliament so something can be done. Their a disgrace.

Did a shared ownership with Aster 5 years ago and rent was just over £300. It's now jumped up by £27 just over £390. I genuinely can't afford to live in this shared ownership house anymore, but I'm locked in to a mortgage. I would not recommend it. House has so many things wrong with it and of course Aster don't have to pay for anything. Doing shared ownership was the worst thing I ever did. It honestly makes me feel like life is just too hard now.

Aster deployed an operative to survey and carry out work on our windows as the seals were worn.
The young man who was tasked was prompt, very polite and friendly. The seals were fixed and the job was completed without any mess.

Aster .. where shall I start ! Last year I was informed that I was in arrears which had been accumulating for nearly a year and then they decided to notify me rather than at the time of the change of payment. Here and now I’ve been given a outstanding bill of over 1,000. Before paying this I’ve dug a little deeper ! It turns out my 2 bed property has been charged £50 extra a week compared to all others in my street ! 3 beds are being charged £20 less than me a week and they are claiming my rent is 172 compared to 118 of other 2 bed residents !! And they have been charging me this for years. 200 a month more than others !!! Aster please tell me why your ripping a mother of 4 children off in an overcrowded property than you fail to maintain ? I will be raising an official complaint shortly and hope this is solved promptly and amicably and if it is not I will be contacting the housing ombudsman, and I’m in good faith I will have a positive outcome because there is no justifiable reason that you have been taking all this extra money. I am not looking for this to happen however if I am pushed into it this will be the outcome. IHope to resolve this matter ASAP !

Flooded out second time in 18 months. Water pouring through kitchen, livingroom, hallway and bathroom ceilings.
They are a deplorable company who have no idea of Duty of Care.
Incompetence is eye-watering...now the property is uninsurable.
They don't give a damn.
Running perfectly good homes into the ground to be sold off.
170 million pound profit but can't provide decent housing or service for tenants.
And here we are 6 months after a devestating flood.
4 weeks after the flood another major leak was found by the independent surveyor.
6 weeks after the flood the sodden insulation was finally removed. All 100 bags of the sodden rotting stinking stuff.
I need to clarify a leak is a small loss of water. The pipes in our loft exploded. Think more water displays Las Vegas.
An independant chap conducted a full survey. The list of issues was huge and every single one had been reported for years.
A contractor was brought in to undertake the work. Thank goodness because i would not trust aster to do anything.
All of the bodged pipework was removed from the loft.
All of the insulation was done.
The bathroom and kitchen flooring aster refused to remove after the 1st flood, my husband removed after the second...the floors had been wet so long they stank to high heaven. The floors were finally sealed and industrial flooring put down.
The smell from the bathroom was...the waste pipe from the toilet had failed before we moved in. The waste had been seeping for years had bowed the floor, the plaster on the walls had to be removed because it had been sucking up the moisture as it came up through the floor. The entire bathroom is now tanked.
All my tiles were removed and replaced. The entire bathroom gutted and the bath replumbed to assist the water in a downward direction. Not upwards as installed by aster.
The kitchen. We lost everything.
Talk of grinding out the floors because damage was so great was 'upsetting' our efforts to dry and air the floor paid off.
The kitchen sink was replumbed the water flow finally heading downwards.
At the back of the property the soil removal and retaining walll had been blamed repeatedly for the damp wall. No it was simple. Every single waste pipe was broken. Had been for years.
The log burner blamed for an ongoing smell of damp was cleared of all charges. Instead it was revealed the flashing around the chimney was for decorative purposes only. As was the ridge tile that had been cemented into place in two parts. One either side of the ridge with sandy cement allowing water to pour into our roof every time since atleast 2009 when the bloke did the work.
9 roof tiles were replaced with many more needing to be fitted back into place.
My formal complaint was submitted the 1st week of April still no response.
Now with Ombudsman and solicitors.
We frooze in a cold damp stinking leaking property for months. No cooker, no microwave, no affordable heating, no flooring. A damp place we could not heat.
As the work finally started we were allowed to move out into a local hotel. The contractors were brilliant, it took 3 weeks of cleaning after they left, every item we managed to save before we could return to a level of norm. Though there will never be a norm again. It has destroyed our heatlh.
And even now we are still waiting for the refund for the cost of running dehumidifiers we were ex pected to pay for out of our state pension.
All of this trauma from a company that has no comprehension of duty of care.
All of this financial hardship and distress under Bjorn Howards leadership. He has earnt atleast 150k since we were flooded, and i cant even get a few hundred quid to pay the bills they have left me with. An uninsurable property after the first flood we have lost thousands of pounds of personal stuff we cant afford to replace.
And all of this was preventable if the emergency plumber had done his job and the unqualified surveyour had joined the dots over the last decade of visits.
Each time i add to the post they ask me to contact them. What a joke!
Still waiting for response to the 1st complaint lodged on 4th April .. now 18th July for a flood that happened exactly 6 months ago today and left me suicidal.
Helen Bailey the senior complaints person dared to refer to the catastrophic flood as a leak 😖 Just wondering how much the CEO Bjorn Howard has earnt as we have been plunged into debt...guessing 200k ...

Terrible management. I am in a shared ownership property and religiously pay my rent half on time. For the last 2 years I have not been informed of rent increases so I could ammend my standing order. Rather than tell me straight away that my standing order is insufficient they have let arrears build up over a whole year and sent me an email in February asking me to pay the full arrears in one lump sum. If I had been informed correctly I would have just changed the standing order and carried on as normal, I can only make changes if I am informed. Aster clearly have my contact details as I received an email today asking me for the full lump sum of a year's worth of arrears, it is unacceptable to let this build up like this do you not check your accounts more than once a year. I am not a bill dodger, I am not hard up for cash so I have no reason to avoid paying I simply wasn't informed of the increase and unless I am told I assume everything is well, if I missed a credit card payment I would know straight away they wouldn't wait a year to let it add up to tell me so why would my housing association do so. As a result my family have decided to seek mortgage advice next year to move, we were intending to stay as we love where we live but we no longer want to be at the mercy of a housing association who treat people like this. All it would have taken is a bit of communication, I would have paid straight away. A complaint is going to be officially raised shortly and if it is not resolved promptly we will be contacting the housing ombudsman. A tenant with a similar complaint to us received significant compensation for this I have found out, I am not looking for this scenario but if pushed to it I have good confidence that I would win. I look forward to resolving this amicably.

I applied to make some home improvements to my bathroom. I wanted to have a walk in shower. I completed the application form online, and within a couple of days had an email from Lynn Manning requesting more information. Yesterday I called Lynn, paid my home improvement fee and emailed her my drawings. This morning I have received a call from Lynn advising my plans have been approved. Wow what a service 👏

Had to call out Aster due to my smoke alarms going off non-stop, had someone attend within 2 hours! During which time I realised that my boiler was also not working! Had someone out with a few hours and all fixed.
The staff members I spoke to in the call centre - kate and kizzy - were absolutely fantastic, it was honestly the best customer service I have received in a long time!
