I purchased a direct vent gas water heater in January 2011. One year and nine moths later the tank started leaking. I had to pay $300 ,( Warranty??), to an independent contractor to verify it was leaking and not repairable. They gave me a replacement and I had it installed. Fast foreword to October 2021. The water heater is once again leaking out of the tank. So in 10 years I have had two water heaters and they both have ended up leaking. I called customer service to discuss the heaters. I understand the heater is out of warranty. I wasn't expecting a free replacement but I was expecting some consideration purchasing a replacement unit. All I got was possible reasons the heater had failed. I paid $1750 for the original heater in 2011. The same replacement was going to cost $2800. The water heater that I originally installed in my house was a Bradford White. It lasted 20 years. The first A O Smith heater lasted 18 months. The replacement A O Smith heater lasted 9 years. I asked for some consideration on the replacement cost and all they would say is sorry you are out of warranty. I told they that if they wouldn't give me some consideration on the replacement unit that I would purchase a different brand. They once again read off their script and said sorry you are out of warranty. I am a man of my word. I purchased a different brand. I will never again purchase a A O Smith product and I will advise everybody I possibly

I guess a o smith has no interest in selling their product to canada so I guess they might be going out of business

Purchased an AO Smith 50 gallon water…
Purchased an AO Smith 50 gallon water heater model EG12-50R55DV on 10/05/2020, it is now broken, will not work, triggers the circuit breaker. In addition to the AO Smith warranty; 12 years; I purchased an additional extended warranty from Lowes for 5 years. I called, waited 58 minutes to get an agent, was told to call American Water Heater company that they are the ones that manage Lowes extended warranty. I was given a ticket number and a local contractor they use. Of course the contractor said that they did not have anyone available until next week since it was Friday 1:30 PM, now the kicker if I agree to paying $200.00 an hour for overtime guess what, they all of a sudden have a tech that can go to my property on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM. Now 90 minutes later I get a call and guess what he can be in my property in 40 minutes. The moral of the story is never buy anything from Lowes and never buy an extended warranty from them, you will get better service from the mafia and it will cost you less. By the way in 40 plus years of being a home owner and owner of multiple rental properties, I have never had a water heater fail in six months, nor ever heard of one breaking down in such a short period of time, great job AO Smith even the Chinese crap that gets imported does better than that. AO SMITH DOES NOT CARE FOR IT'S CUSTOMERS OR REPUTATION. As long as Lowes keep pushing their garbage products out the door no problem.

This company does not care after they make the sale. Our new hot water heater is malfunctioning after just months, and their customer service agent was callous and did nothing to help, nor honor the warranty policy.

Not only horrible product (quick working in months), the warranty is not honored and the customer service (Lisa) was callous and not helpful. Very disappointing product and experience.

Hot water tank, 12 gal Unit, died after 1 year of use. Power was fine from electrical panel, had a contractor electrician even put in a new circuit breaker (20 amp) and receptacle in BEFORE it was installed. Wires on top of this tank fried one year later. Called AO Smith, no answer, called Lowe's & got re-routed back to AO Smith. Finally after 2 hours on hold, someone took my name, model and serial number only to pass it on to Technical Support. They said, "Sorry, there's nothing we can do for you". Never again will I buy AO Smith or recommend them. Horrible customer service for what...a fried wire plug after one year of use? Goodbye. (Now already bought a Bosch.)

You may get to see a 5 star rating of the products on amazon or flipkart or any other online portal but trust me the company is totally disgusting.
The product they are selling is just okay. Nothing great about it and the service they are providing is the Worst. If you purchase any product of this company and call them for the service of the product or for anything, first of all you won't be able to get in touch with the agent. Secondly, if you are lucky and get to speak to the agent then they will take your request and sleep over it.
You will wait forever and nobody is going to come to your place.
I have requested for the service of the Water Heater and it's been more than 6 months now that no body has visited. Whenever I call them it takes me about half an hour to get to speak to them and they tell me that the request is open and I will get a call back from the executive/engineer whenever he is going to come.
I have been waiting for 6 months now and the engineer hasn't come to my place yet.

You can escalate or send an email to anyone in this company and nobody actually bothers. I don't even think that they have anybody to handle complaints or escalations. Nobody cares in this company. They are just selling their below average products and making money, that is it nothing else.

A.O.Smith I guess just put in money in making their products and has given ZERO budget to the rest departments like after sales and customer care. Bought A.O Smith Z8 water purifier THE Mighty Z8 WITH ART TECH. But the damn thing stop working after JUST 5 months and after repeated complaints a tech came and changed
1. ART Filter Cartridge
2. Some Connectors

And Z8 worked for just 1 Day and it again stopped working. Its been 3 days and no now has come to check the damn thing.

I am now having only one option. I am going to file a case in consumer court.

VERY SAD EXPERIENCE......

After testing the water coming out of my water heater by ao smith'
I found that the water coming out of this system was toxic.
called their customer service and they said they really don't care.
So my dad and I are getting a rash from AO Smtih water heater and the company really doesn't care WOW.

Gas water heater parts don't last. Very poor reviews on Loews, wish I had seen them prior to mine being installed 7 years ago. The entire digital water temperature sensor has to replaced at a cost/unit age factor that doesn't make sense. So, we have to buy a new one. The company wins no matter what I do, but at my loss. Very disappointed in a formerly good company.
