Be super careful with this app/website

Be super careful with this app/website. They only allow you to sign up with a subscription and you can only access your login while overseas. I thought I was signing up for a weekly pass but it was a weekly subscription. Only realised 5 weeks later after returning home when I noticed recurring charge on my credit card. Tried to log in to cancel and it wouldn’t allow me as I was in Australia. Wasted a fortune and customer service were no help and would not provide a refund. Seems like a deliberately deceptive strategy.

The AFL is such a corrupt organisation

The AFL is such a corrupt organisation. Their umpires do whatever their umpire association wants, despite their unwanted impact on the game, like getting in the corridors. They also have a clear bias when certain clubs play (Collingwood and Carlton). They also have a clear bias for certain clubs when you look at the first half frees against vs the second half when the game is likely over. Do the analysis and it will come clear.

Shame on AFL

Where do I start?!!!! I am disgusted that the AFL organised & paid Katy Perry to perform when there is footage of her sexually assaulting Justin Bieber?! Disgraceful! She has had involvement with P.Diddy & then we get people like this into our country making more money & robbing the some of Australia’s best young talents?! Disgraceful! With the crimes going on with P Diddy, none of these celebrities should’ve been welcomed into our country, Let alone be paid for an event that was terrible anyway! Shame on you Katy Perry for having any kind of involvement's!!! Shame on the AFL !!!
You could’ve chosen Tina Arena , Dance Monkey ect!!! Why a Satan worshiper !

Shrewd and capitalistic

Well, they provide a range of services that are fine and good, and probably useful to many, (has been for me in the past), but as an expat living in Europe, the service that I’m most interested in is the full match replays they had going for years, but have recently “suspended” for International’s until further notice.

I got in contact with both AFL general queries and Internet inquiries about the matter. This was the initial reply:
“The Product Operations department are aware of this issue and are currently in talks with the operators who provide these replays.
At this stage we do not have any further information and no time frame to when this will be resolved.”

When I persisted, I received this email:
“It maybe that this is no longer available, the team are working with the providers but as yet there is no more information.”

I’ve persisted further, but have not received any more replies. I’m not the only one who has found this dip in service frustrating. It seems as though the AFL are pushing people to subscribe to their streaming service, instead of providing them with options so they can watch the games at more feasible times. (Most games are aired live in Europe between 5:30 am and 12:30 pm, depending on the time of year. The grand final, for instance is live at 6:30 in the morning in Western Europe). You can imagine these times are inconvenient and not everybody has the money to subscribe to a now foreign streaming service.

I’ve since boycotted the website completely and won’t return until they bring the service back in.

Since these match replays are put online more than 24 hours after the game itself has finished, I don’t see why the AFL would think it fair to force international viewers to subscribe to a service they’re not even really able to take full advantage of.

The website itself is fine; I’m reviewing the attitude behind it, and I’d say it’s pretty shrewd and capitalistic. Not really what footy is all about, is it? Or am I just being naive?

The AFL is very successful at one thing…

The AFL is very successful at one thing - destroying the game!

The constant fixture and rule changes don't help, the score review system is a laughing stock and their drug policy is an international disgrace.

But all these points are nothing compared to the abhorrent umpiring of recent years.

A game once based on skill is now a raffle draw totally dependent on the men in white/yellow/(insert your colour here).
Obvious indiscretions are flagrantly ignored, particularly the handball, and then in the flow of play an absurd call for some "free" is plucked, almost at random, often by an umpire furtherest from the ball.
At times is seems each quarter has certain aspects policed while most rules are ignored, the next quarter the concentration is on a different aspect of the game. Then to make things more confusing there are obvious differences from game to game. Let alone the "No whistle last three (5 to 3) minutes" of the game in a cliffhanger.
Finals, the umpiring changes again. What's been allowed all season is suddenly taboo.

How can players successfully play the game when the "ground rules" are constantly shifting?

I am honestly surprised that players aren't resigning, on mass, in protest. Obviously the income is sufficient for them to take the crap and swallow it.
As a spectator/TV watcher, it's far easier to change my hobby/habit or simply change the chanel. And that is just what I've done!

As a 62 year old born & bread Aussie rules players and supporter - I no longer bother - the adjudication of the rules simply too frustrating.

AFL/MCG/Ticketek all suck

Leave their members at the mercy of ticketek who have one of the most disgraceful websites on planet earth. My AFL membership isn't giving me much value.

The worst web page in existence

I have just attempted to look at the line- up for saints football team.
Who, how and what went “awol” in order for that your joke web site ever saw the light of day.
Listen up - (important learning opportunity)
A huge proportion of the football barracker population want this basic information on the home page.
1 )the freakin Ladder who is where on the ladder at a glance bang ! Carlton 5th ohh hawks are 14 th as example. We don’t want to have to go searching for that information and the fact that you need to be told this is pathetic.
Then we get to another crucial at a glance imfo you need on the home front page the match day Team sheet the line up for the game .
A quick at a glance but also a protracted examination of who’s in who’s out who is on who ect.
But the exception is your team sheet and team lineups. I have never seen such an over complication of what should be easy. What I witnessed in The AFL site is truly a pathetic effort 0/10 nothing it’s crap.
