Invalid fee charged without disclosure or agreement
Klarna charged me a "Service Fee" of £2.99, which was not valid for my order, and I was surprised to discover it. Upon contacting Klarna, they claimed it was an "Acquirer processing fee" applied by IKEA. Klarna explicitly states that it does not charge any fees.
After contacting IKEA's customer support, and visiting their store in person, IKEA clearly confirmed that they do not and did not charge any such fees. They provided evidence, including the payment invoice, which clearly shows no fees were applied.
Klarna charged the fee without the consent of either myself or IKEA, and without informing us. When I confronted them multiple times, they eventually refunded the fee as a “goodwill gesture,” making it seem like they were doing me a favour, despite the fact that the fee was charged for something neither the merchant nor I agreed to, and it was never displayed during checkout, and should not have been charged in the first place.
