Not a good experience I'm afraid …
I took a sleeveless puffy jacket to The Douglas Branch Cork fairly recently . My request was that they widen it by adding a panel on each side under the armpit part of the sleeves. Immediately they were saying " no no this is not possible " .I had matching material with me for them to use.. so I said the branch in Cork City centre had done this for me before with a similar jacket and what an amazing job they did. And the guy at the desk there ( ex carpenter ) was always such a great representative for the company.. anyway Douglas zipyard also said" well we're NOT the city centre zip yard, we're completely different tothem" .. they then had a big discussion in a foreign language which I consider a bit rude but I realised maybe one of the 2 staff may have poor English so i didn't dwell on this occurrence.. besides that getting parking there is very challenging and that I drove 30 miles to get there I can't believe they didn't have the skill to do this..I even reached out to the owners through my LinkedIn account but got no response..ultimately I did the amendments to the jacket myself and it has turned out fine. But I have lost faith in Zipyard as a company and their commitment to customers .. at Douglas branch anyhow.. credit due to city centre branch in Cork.. they fixed at least 4 items of clothing for me efficiently and with a very high standard of work.. my advice.. stay away from Douglas Zip yard .
Avoid Zipyard Cavan!
So, I'm a professional Santa Claus and I dropped my best Santa suit into Zipyard in Cavan town for some work. That was at the end of April, if I remember correctly. I called in a number of times and "it wasn't ready yet"! Today, September 21st, 2023, it still wasn't ready so I retrieved it from them. In my visits I spoke with the owner, her excuses were many including wedding season. So, she's happy to take large amounts of money from brides, but couldn't give a darn about ordinary customers. Avoid this place.

Extremely bad service from the Zipyard in Ennis. I left in a bag to be altered and was told that it would be ready on certain date. The date has long gone and even after 6 more visits to the shop, I still don't have my bag back. The owner kept saying, it will be ready, no problem. I've actually given up now and I consider my bag stolen. Very strange way of doing business.

The ladies in the shop in Tralee Co.Kerry were very friendly however the price I was given to have a Faux leather trousers taken in at the waist by a few inches was 35euro I was told it was because it was a leather trousers ?.I however got the same alteration done by a wonderful shop in Tralee for less than half of the price I was given by the Zip Yard defenatley won't be going back .

Parked up with my daughter and she jumped into the back seat to get changed into her sea cadet uniform to take part in armed forces day.
Her school name logo came away on her arm band we were at a loss and nowhere near home. Looked up and seen Zip yard (Northampton) on the corner where we parked and thought we hit the jackpot.
Asked them if they had some fabric glue I could borrow or buy as it just need a quick stick down, I was told but I can fix that for you now. Great I thought, the seamstress did not even sit her behind down, it took 60 seconds then I was charged £8!
I came away feeling disappointed, I know everything has a price but truly thought in my heart a kind gesture would be offered.
This store is 30 mins away from where I live, at first I thought I would use them for future alternations but no way now, source small independent businesses.

Paid nearly £14.00 for a small inside pocket to the inside of denim jacket and was very disappointed to see a flimsy pocket poorly stitched with very thin lining material when I expected a denim pocket seeing as it’s a denim jacket, it’s as if they wanted to maximise profit to 100% judging by the quality of the basic lining material used . As the saying goes they must have seen me coming. Will not be using their services again after this insult.

They no longer provide bags when you pick up your alternations (which aren't cheap).
Why ... I was told where you not told to bring your own... we don't supply them anymore as they just go in the bin. How does she know they just go in the bin and are not recycled. Even if you had the option to buy a paper bag for .10c would be better than leaving the shop with new clothes wrapped up in a ball.

I got a pair of my favorite trousers altered in zip yad maynooth as I have lost weight and I was so apprehensive in case they looked different but I was so happy with the new fit that I am actually going to alter half of my wardrobe as the fit is better than ever, such a good job, I rang up to find out who altered them so I can ask for her again- and it was Nikky, she’s amazing, and the service overall was quick and great, I will 💯 go back there again, thank you Nikky and zip yard 🙏💞

I went to the zip yard in Brighton and was bitterly disappointed.
One of my black waterproof coats needed a zip replacement. I asked for it to be replaced like for like (I.e. silver metal and very sturdy) and was told it would be done. I got charged £30.00. Paid in advance on 17 Feb and the receipt of the payment said to collect at 4pm on 8 March. I was also told I would get a text to tell me when the coat would be ready for collection.
I received a text on Thursday 9 March to say the coat was ready for collection. After work I literally run to the shop before getting back home to my son only to find the shop shut early with a hand written note on the window. This had not been clarified in the text I received.
The day after, Friday 10 March, I went back again to get my coat, I was in a rush as I had to leave to get to the airport. I had already noticed the very poor uneven and wonky stitching with blue thread on my black coat. I wore it as it matched my outfits for the weekend away I was going to.
While away for my long weekend in Paris, I had time to inspect the new zip closely and noticed that it was a very poor quality zip, very flimsy with a tiny "holder" to zip it up and down. After wearing the coat not even 24 hours, the stitching came undone and my coat wouldn’t zip up easily or properly, plus I looked like a trump.
On Tuesday 14 I called the zip yard and spoke to Chelsea who said she was the manager and owner of the franchise. I explained what had happened in full and that I wanted a full refund due to the horrible experience I had had. Instead of apologising, Chelsea said she would have to inspect the coat as they do not issue refund so easily. I old her the earliest I could go would be Friday 17 March.
Today I finished work earlier an went to the shop. Chelsea was there with another lady called Nadine. After briefly explaining again what had happened I said I wanted a full refund, they said they would only issue a refund if they could get the zip back and that I would have to leave the coat, let them remove the zip and then I would have had to go back to get my ruined coat and my refund.
I told them I would definitely not go back as I had already invested enough of my precious time and to take the zip off there and then and issue my refund, which they did and returned my coat without zip and ruined.
The level of poor service and utter incompetence in both customer service and tailoring services I experience is staggering. I will never in a million years ever go back to the zip yard ever again. Awful 😢
Not what they used to be
I used to swear by the zip yard in Blanch; wouldn’t go anywhere else but I’ve been bitterly bitterly disappointed by my last two visits. I had a suit altered last year that was destroyed which they were really apologetic about. Last month I dropped a pair of brand new trousers into be lengthen by an inch. Got them back and one leg was longer than the other. Brought back for them to the fixed but somehow were still uneven. I ended up bringing them elsewhere to be fixed in the end. That’s me done with them unfortunately.

I took it to Helen and she made it fit me absolutely perfectly and I fell in love with it all over again. Just a lovely experience to deal with her, very calming and reassuring and the work was simply stunning. Can't recommend her highly enough

I took a dress into zip yard that I bought for a wedding the dress cost me alot of money but it needed a bit taken in at the sides and the arms needed to be made shorter. I took it in on the Saturday and it was ready to collect the Saturday after. I tried it on and it was very badly done and the sleeves were still to long. So they said it's ok we will fix it. I then got another message to say it was fixed I was horrified at the mess they had made of my beautiful oasis Dress. This was 3 days before the wedding. The gentleman offered me a refund for the price of the repair. But they totally ruined my dress that cost me £160 That cannot be worn due to the state of the repair. I took it to another place. Who told me their was nothing they could do the damage has been done.dont take anything their if it cost alot of money the repair was shabby work.now I have a dress that still has the tags on it that can't be worn. Such ashame

Fantastic service with Zip Yard in Douglas Cork. Opted for the express service and all completed within one hour on a busy Saturday morning when I had left it to last minute. Really pleasant and friendly staff who couldn’t have been more helpful. Thanks for your help!
Do not use this place ever!
Do not use this place ever, guys. Unless you are masochists who enjoy wasting time and money. It's literally impossible to communicate with staff working there. VERY, VERY disappointing and unreliable service that cost me over a 100 euro on ruined clothes and another 40 on top of that for the lousy, unprofessional job they've done. And it was only two simple shirt alternations. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.

Patronising and condescending
Customer service needs a lot of work in limerick store. I felt so small! The receptionist wasn’t working that day and so an elderly lady was taking over. She continuously reminded me that she was “doing me a favour”- which she overcharged me for! I don’t think you should belittle your customers to the point of tears. When I asked her why she was being so mean she laughed at me. I asked her could I just take the dress elsewhere to which she replied no as it was “already in the system”. I left embarrassed and cannot believe that people like her still exist in this world.
