Tasty! Texture really pleasant and excellent in chili con cricket and ragu bolognaise

It was different, quirky, tasty and went a surprisingly long way in my meal. Also, excellent source of protein and really good for the environment - so added bonus. Tastes really good!

Food was tasty and really interesting. You really couldn't tell you were eating bugs containing crickets!

Okay... I'll admit it. A long day at work; calorie deficit; the familiar trapping enticement of carb-centric scents drifting through doorways of various restaurants en route to Old Street... I was craving pizza/pasta in the moment... the hype and cricket-curiosity that let me to book Yum Bug on autopilot just a week prior was a thing of the past. Had I made a mistake?
HOW WRONG I WAS!
Within minutes of entering and shaking hands with two of the most engaging small business owners I've encountered, my gaze had drifted to the columns of well-curated dishes that lined the tables. Not an antenna nor a wing in sight. Trepidation overridden; hunger restored. These guys mean business.
The hour that followed was one of sheer delight - so much so that we were the last to leave the restaurant. Incredible array of flavours and protein textures - quite literally 'something for everyone' and a creative masterpiece (if you leave without sampling the miso cricket butter or pomegranate flatbread you should be fined).
The endorsement of some of the biggest high-street names provides the comfort; the presence of the owners thoughtfully outlines the vision and the sheer tastiness of the concoctions - often doused with fruits and funky flavours - not to mention the Brewdog beer pairing - ensure a truly unforgettable experience. All this, with a sustainability and immersive, educational edge?! Really?!
Scouting through other reviews; I'd also contest that any portion size concern is misplaced - I was very impressed and found Yum Bug to in fact be fantastic value for money.
Craving the permanent fixture of the location and certain to visit the moment I am next in the vicinity!

Unbelievably good and couldn't believe I was eating cricket proteins. It's a shame that the pop-up was only for 2 weeks as I would love to take more friends there to try. Eating well while doing good for the planet!

Leo and Aaron made everyone feel like a VIP with their warm welcome and checking in with us during the meal.

My daughter and I loved every dish we tasted, right from the Roasted Crickets and Sunflower Seeds to accompany our drinks. My fave dish was the Delicia Squash, Burrata, Sage & Hazelnut while she said the Calabrian Chilli & Tomato Pappardelle was the best she’d ever tasted. The portions were generous, and we left very satisfied.

The food was so delicious, and we had a lovely chat with the co-founder about their journey so far.

I'm still not sure which format was best - the chunks were tasty and satisfying, but the smaller roasted whole had a surprisingly great texture. Especially when used as a topping. I'd definitely use them in my home cooking!

We couldn't believe how delicious all the plates of food were at the YumBug pop up. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and the staff were all amazing. I went with a group of friends and they all loved it.

Yum Bug are hitting the perfect balance between taste and sustainability their cricket dishes not only taste great but are very environmentally friendly by reducing the amount of energy spent farming. Crickets offer a healthier and more sustainable option. Their pop up restaurant has fantastic dishes and I would certainly go back for more when the open their doors again.

I was hesitant to try Yum Bug but it turned out to be absolutely delicious! The gnocchi was my personal favourite, and the crickets added a hint of spice. The sourdough and butter was to die for!

Only thing I would say is that for very small plates, it was quite expensive, but that's to be expected when you're getting dishes from top chefs. I would definitely go again if it was more affordable.

Bugs or not, this was great food! I had a selection of tapas style snacks with my friend, including from a Masterchef winner!!! Delicious creative dishes, something to suit all tastebuds.

Amazing food that tastes great. Who knew you could do this with bugs...Nutritional benefits speak for themselves. Add to this the environmental benefits, and what's not to love?!

The food was absolutely fantastic and super delicious! It was an amazing experience and definitely would recommend. I cannot wait to try the food again soon!

What an experience

The food was FANTASTIC. I shall eat nothing but crickets going forward. Seriously tho, you wouldn't have guessed it was bug based. Loved visiting the Yum Bug restaurant. Can't wait to see what they do next

Surprisingly delicious meal!

My girlfriend and I went to Yum Bug pop up purely for the novelty, but left genuinely impressed by both the flavour of the bugs themselves, and the unexpectedly sophisticated plates that we ate. Would go again, and would consider working bugs into my weekly diet

Amazing atmosphere, food and price.
The hosts were super friendly and answered all of our questions about the process of getting bugs onto our plates as well as the benefits of it, both for the planet and for ourselves! And the food really tasted like any other delicious restaurant, you would have had no idea it had bugs in if it wasn’t in the name!!
