This is a horrible car rental place for your travel in southern island of New Zealand. We booked a car with full damage waiver insurance on their website, and received the email confirmation letter. When we came to pick up the car. The staff told us that we cannot pick up the car because we are not holding Australian or New Zealand driving license, and full damage waiver insurance only applies to a Australian or New Zealand driving license.

However when we booked on the website, there is no pop up window telling us that full damage waiver insurance would require a Australian or New Zealand driving license.

Then we requested for a refund for the booking fee. Yes rental told us they cannot refund it because it is already over the pick up time of the booking. This is extremely stupid. Is this really a valid reason for Yes rental to reject refunding the booking fee, when client cannot pick up their car due to some terms and conditions made up by Yes Rental?

Strongly suggest you don't rent you car here !!! I wish this website could allow me to give 0 star review for this place.

Booked a Corolla and received a lower grade Aqua that had rear end damage. They did not come out to show us the car, so I went back in to report it. Advised they knew about it and we wouldn't be charged. Didn't notice as we drove out, but by day two the rattle from the rear end was constant. Tried to change the car in Wellington but only have Auckland office, so had to put up with it for two weeks! Returned car at 5.35pm prior to office closure at 6, to be advised we had missed the last shuttle and would have to pay for our own taxi. Refused to call us a taxi or refund anything for lower level, damaged car. In addition, on arrival waited almost an hour for their shuttle and fair distance from airport, so lost driving time on first day. They are rude and arrogant, with no customer service care, we will never use them again. Lesson learnt - pay a little more and use a reputable car rental company.

Do not be fooled by these people at Yes Rentals because they say one thing but do another thing and once they get your credit card number on the pretext of paying Bond, they start hitting your account with unexpected charges and taking money from it. I still haven't received my bond of NZD250 and it's been over 2 months, I am still waiting, and they said it would back in 21 days. They are shady and hold us to ransom for there silly car.

DO NOT CONSIDER RENTING HERE! They will scam you for thousands of dollars for a single hair like scratch.

on February 14th of this year, we rented a car from yesrentals in Queenstown, NZ. Paid NZD 250 as deposit on spot. Upon returning the car, we noted a minor scratch, and as a result, they deducted NZD 1000 from our deposit. However, 18 days after returning the car, we received an invoice with peculiar costs totaling $981, which conveniently rounds up to 1000.
Furthermore, they have yet to refund our deposit. It is imperative that deposits are promptly returned upon vehicle return. However, it has been 18 days since we returned the vehicle, and despite numerous follow-ups, they have not processed our refund. This delay is unacceptable.

Don't book a car with Yes Rentals!! The service is really poor, the staff I dealt with spoke barely English and the car I picked up was in a very poor condition. During my rental period it broke down. Since I did not book the additional insurance they refused to give me roadside assistance for over 3 hours before I could convince them to help me find a towing company. Now afterwards everything is a nightmare with the handling the payment for the roadside assistance and getting an invoice for me to hand over to my insurance. They are constantly increasing the final payment.

STAY AWAY. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. Should have read the reviews before booking with this company. Booked a car, drove to my destination, left car in the carpark for maybe 3 hours, when I came back the car would not start. Tried to call breakdown service and they told me they'd "give me a number" and I'd have to pay them. I purchased extra insurance for $22 per day to avoid this scenario! Ended up walking half the way to my BnB in the next town (12 km away) before someone gave me a ride, and had to organise rides in the morning, inconveniencing other people. Called breakdown service again today, they could not be reached. Called customer service and they promised that someone would call me back, this has not happened. I spent $200 including extra insurance to have a smooth experience at a study event at Lincoln University which is important for my career, and ended up having all this extra stress. I have no way to return the car to the airport tomorrow and if they wan their f•king car back, it is at Lincoln University car park and I will post the keys, I have blocked my credit card so they can't try to CHARGE me for this. Will be filing for compensation with the Small Claims Court. BE WARNED.

To start, we arrived at the airport by bus to pick up the car off the agency is not at the airport so we had to wait 30 minutes for their shuttle to pick us up. In addition they indicate a car as pictured or a similar when booking, the reserved car and the recovered car had no reports and was in very poor condition.
The host was really not welcoming and was not at all friendly. Very disappointed with this experience we will not rent a car at home.

Our Experience with YES Rentals was Excellent!... Great Price & very Economical Vehicle (Toyota Aqua Hybrid).... We Booked Directly Online with YES, Email Communication was good, with Clear Instructions provided to follow for our Late Car Pick-up. Whilst the YES Office is Not at the Christchurch Airport, Airpark Canterbury Collected us promptly transferring us to the After Hours Car Pick-Up Point. Having already completed the Online Paperwork Prior to our Travel - It was an Easy Car Pick-up. Drop-off on Return was just as Quick & Easy, with a Prompt Transfer back to the Christchurch Airport... We would definitely use YES Rentals again & HIGHLY Recommend them to other Travellers!!...

Economy car for my holiday in Auckland. Nice staffs and good service. Recommend to everyone.

I had no issues with my rental. The shuttle from Auckland Airport came quickly, picking up the car was simple (bring a credit card, not a debit card to make it easier), the agents were friendly and the car worked well.

Their fleet is mostly Toyota Aqua (Prius) hybrids. With gas prices at nearly $3 this was awesome getting 4L/100k. I think the car was around 2015 but clean and well maintained. 70,000kms, and they installed a new radio with bluetooth, usb, aux etc.

My only complaints would be I wish they were open later - lots of flights arrive/depart later than 6pm. And I'd rather not have the rental branding on the car but it doesn't make a huge difference.

I initially booked through a 3rd party website but looking at their website it was a bit cheaper so check that if you're considering booking!

The attitude of a pickup driver was extremely rude. He opened the rear door of the shuttle van and just kept on watching me loading 4 large luggages.

The driver didn't even say hi, neither.

I have never met such a rude staff from my 40 years of international traveling experience.

We will never use Yes car rental & never recommend it to anyone in the future unless they prove they have improved the customer service. What a terrible experience.....

They need to be on fair go, they steal money from you, you pay a bond and don’t get your money back . Don’t rent with these people. Plus they’re super rude

A éviter, des véhicules anciens, un personnel désagréable et surtout pas aidant. On vient vous chercher à l’aéroport mais, après 17h, on ne vous ramène plus, l’agence ferme et vous vous débrouillez, même si vous avez payé votre location jusqu’au lendemain.

Can't completely blame the VIP Cars but customers loose trust if support is not provided. To go into detail

I was booking rental car through VIP cars in New Zealand. They have offered booking with YES car rentals. I have been provided with all booking details including 24 x 7 support during my booking.

During my trip car broke down in middle of jungle. I have called the assistance number for help. No one picks up call. Called the YES rental company and they ask me to call another number.

I call them and the guys who receives my call after listening to my situation just simply says you need to find someone by yourself to sort it out.

I call VIP cars and they say its Yes Rentals who has to help and insist there is no road side assistance. I explained them rental car company gives contact for assistance even though i get charged. But any rental company provides a assistance contact number for car breakdowns.

YES rentals did provide one claiming 24 x 7 and no one responses on the number. VIP Cars also try to call the number and they too don't get response.

So i was stuck no where in middle of a jungle with no help from both VIP cars and YES rentals.

I had tours booked and i had to miss them .

VIP cars get their share of fees. Rental company gets they rental charges paid but as end customer i am left out with no help and losing gall my money for bookings. None of the companies really tried to help me out.

I have previosly did multiple car hires in New Zealand south Island and can tell you all those companies are very helping and value their customers.

Finally my 9 year old son comes up with this. " Say NO to YES cars".

Booked prior to arriving, was encouraged to complete online check in. Arrived at the office to collect the car and explained we had completed the online check in. Was asked 'you want full insurance' to which I replied 'yes that's what I've ticked" apparently that was an acknowledgement that I wanted their 'additional' insurance. Was given the payment amount and I checked our credit card account and the deposit still had the probationary payment marker so we paid the full amount to the office only to find out 2 days later the probationary payment had also gone through. When taking back the car we quiered this and suddenly the clerks English wasn't good enough to explain anything to us. Called over a lady whom I assume was a manager/supervisor and she was adamant that we must have requested their insurance and refused to refund anything.I said 'why would be pay for the same insurance twice that's ridiculous' After going round and round in circles we had ho choice to leave to catch our plane

Appalling do not use this company. Their website takes your money, when you turn up to the Queenstown branch which is not at the airport, they then can’t help you to do any changes as they claim they don’t have anything to do with the website booking side. Then when you email them to extend your booking, they don’t read your email, claim you didn’t send one and then try and charge you a late fee!

the excess fee is 4900 the highest anywhere in NZ. They advertise as cheap cars but when at the time of picking the car at the Auckland Air Port scared if this happened and if this goes wrong you will end up paying 4900 . No good scaring clients

Terrible customer service. We’re completely ignored when we arrived at the office, then charged more that what was quoted. Car breaks were shot as well as window wipers. Stay clear of these guys.
