Although I very rarely write reviews, I felt it so important to write this one. My husband bought me a beautiful bird table from Simply Wood for a Christmas present last year and I absolutely love it (and the birds too). Unfortunately, after an accidental knock, one of the slate tiles broke. I contacted the company and asked if they would be able to send me a replacement. Ian immediately replied and said yes! This was sent to me by post at no cost …. now that’s customer service!

Purchased a Woodshaw Hampton swing arbour . Fast delivery and kept me informed all the way . Came in 3 big pieces and several smaller so didn’t take long to put it together . Worth every penny . It’s fabulous!!!! Would definitely recommend Simply Wood .

Great looking furniture.

Over the past few years I've purchased two of Simply Wood's Imperial 4 foot benches, as well as a chair.

They look great when assembled, although during assembly of my first (purchased in 2021) I found that some of the bolt holes were pretty rough due to having splinters all around. Not a big problem but I think it's worth noting. The other bench I bought from the company a year later didn't have that issue, neither did a chair that I bought about a year ago.

Despite treating the above with Osmo Oil one of them (the first, purchased in March 2021 and twice treated) has a problem with rot on one of the front slats. It's tempting to blame the Osmo Oil but of course the rot shouldn't occur in the first place (the bench has a 20 year Guarantee Against Rot).

On the 24th of September 2025 I emailed the company about this, but no reply. I also sent a photo of the affected area.

On the 26th of September I emailed them again - still no reply.

On the 8th of October 2025 I sent a message via their Chat service. Maybe they'll reply this time?

EDIT - They did, on the same day!

To add to the above, the second bench (purchased March 2022) has had its horizontal front slat come adrift recently; the nails were then exposed. I've hammered in some new nails to fix it but am puzzled why this happened. Note that this wasn't mentioned in my initial emails to the company, those were sent solely about the rotting slat.

So far the garden chair at least seems okay, but as of October 2025 that's only about a year old.

EDIT - later on 8th October: thanks very much to Ian of Simply Wood for his reply, I've now emailed over some details as requested and will update here with more info when relevant. I will add that I don't know why Simply Wood didn't receive my earlier emails.

EDIT 2 - 9th October - Have spoken to Ian from Simply Wood on the phone (he called me) and he has been extremely helpful in resolving the situation, so I have decided to increase this review to four stars. We are both baffled why the company didn't receive my initial emails.

Edit 3 - 9th October - Ian Thirsk (Director at Simply Wood) has contacted me again to say that a replacement part has been shipped to me (this is something that I asked for). The excellent service continues, I'm very impressed. Thanks Ian.

Edit 4 - 11th October - delivery from Simply Wood, rotting slat replaced, very many thanks to director Ian Thirsk for his excellent support. Very impressive. Will definitely buy from them again if I need any more garden furniture.

Ian and his team provided fantastic customer service. A complete contrast to our first attempt to buy the same product with a different retailer whose distribution centre spent weeks failing to fully complete the order, raising my stress levels in the process.

I spoke to Ian several times before and during the buying process. He always called back if not immediately available. I was able to discuss two differently priced swing seat arbours and went with my original choice, the Appleton, a solidly built, good looking option that's already received praise from friends. My wife and I, two 70 year olds, assembled it with all fixing points lining up well. It looks to be very good quality.

Because of my bad experience elsewhere, the warehouse team took extra care preparing the pallet for delivery. Delivery times are very quick, so much so we arranged to delay a couple of days to wait for better weather. A helpful driver unloaded and trolleyed the pallet onto our drive in no time.

Overall, exactly the sort of experience you would wish for and the company deserves its high Trustpilot score in my opinion.

First class customer service from pre sales to post delivery. Nothing was too much hassle and they made sure we had our furniture in time for a short notice party.

The furniture is exactly as it looks online. Good quality, chunky wood that is sturdy and comfortable.

The planter was delivered 48hours after ordering and is exactly as described. The timber quality is excellent and appears very durable and should give years of service on our patio. Thank you Ian, Samantha and Joe

We purchased the Ceremony Wooden Garden Bench last summer and love the look of it under the window in our front garden. It is sturdy and comforable.

I ordered 3 of the Signature Classic Square planters and I am really happy with the quality and will very likely get some more in the range in the future.

They were shipped and delivered quickly, and the communcation that the delivery might be a bit later than usual due to the carrier was really appreciated, even though the delivery was only a few later than usual. Having tracking information was really helpful.

A very professional service from a small family business

Ordered 2 hexagonal wooden planters.
They were easy to order, Ian kept us well informed of a very slight delivery delay (we ordered them the week before Christmas) but they arrived quickly. They were very well packaged and appear to be a good quality product. Great to deal with a small, family company who offer good quality products with excellent customer service.

I purchased the hexagonal planters as a gift to a care home in memory of my mother. The recipient was delighted with the planters, which were of excellent quality and versatile so they can be grouped or separate.

Initially the product went out of stock, however I was kept informed and was offered my money to be reimbursed if I chose. AS I was in no rush,I decided to wait for the product to come back in to stock and was kept fully informed during the whole process. We have had two hardwood garden chairs that we love for 20 years. We love them but did not love treating with various preservers over the years (and not covering the up during the winter). Really looking forward to letting them look after theirs selves.

The company’s response when a part of garden bench was found broken when the packaging was opened. A replacement part was received within a few days of contacting the company’s about tge diffract.
