To buy or not to buy...that is the Question.
This is my recent experience. Ordered two sets of really nice Le Creuset Heritage Stoneware dishes for Christmas gifts. 1 set was on Backorder until mid-Jan then that got moved to early in Feb. The other set arrived, but wasn't packed sufficiently to prevent damage in shipping/handling. Customer service reps, via phone, were attentive and understanding of my issues. I ended up cancelling both sets following the return of what was left of the one set that actually arrived. The company made things right in the end, and I was made whole again. Unfortunately, I could not be confident that damage wouldn't occur again...nor did I want to have to deal with that again.
I have to agree, gone down hill.
I have to agree, this legacy retailer has truly declined in recent years. For example, I ordered a SET of 3 cutting boards. A SET. That implies they are packaged together and sold, you know, as a SET. They have been shipping them as individual items since Oct and I still don’t have the 3rd piece and it’s Dec 27. When I reached out to express my dissatisfaction, I got a ridiculous answer, “At least you can enjoy the board you have!” So tone deaf. I also recently ordered an all-clad whisk from them which should have a solid handle, yet when I went to whisk something the other day - stale dishwater came spitting out of the handle and into the dish I was preparing. SO gross and unhygienic.
Update. The final cutting board arrived January 6th. It’s the wrong size. I’m just going to keep it and move on, but I doubt I’ll be ordering from them again for mail delivery.
Bait and Switch
On Nov 5, 2025 I called WS customer service to check on the value of 3 old gift and merchandise credit cards. I was told specifically that these cards had not expired and had a total value of $263.13. I called back on Dec 27, 2025 to place an order using the value of these cards and was told by 3 WS representatives that the cards contained no value and that “perhaps” the cards had expired. This was in direct opposition to the information I was given in November. I was given no explanation for the change and no offer of any compensation (which I did not request). I consider this unacceptable and not the service I expect from a well-established reputable company like WS.
Online Gift Certificates Not Working
I purchased an online gift certificate, received the order confirmation, had my card charged...and then they cancelled the order without any warning or notification. I was left trying to figure out why the recipient hadn't received it. They tried to claim that the fields for the order hadn't been filled out (they had, which I presume is why the order was confirmed). They had no information on what happened and why it was cancelled, and only told me to "try again." I'm not sure if it was a scam or just an error on their website or with their team, but the customer service was awful and obviously we did not attempt to repurchase from them.
"Heirloom quality timer" yeah no.
Bought a kitchen timer that came up when I searched for an "heirloom quality kitchen timer". A Makenzie Childs timer that was advertised as being made of steel and good quality. This timer I'm sure cost Williams Sonoma about $2. They sell it for $79.95. what a complete rip off. My bad for not looking harder, but honestly this thing is utter crap for that kind of money. As a matter of fact I'm really soured on Williams Sonoma period because of this. Anywhere else for me
What happened to this store
What happened to this store? I came to complain about a specific issue, but see so many 1 star reviews. So sad how they’ve gone downhill. Here to comment DO NOT waste your money on morning buns and mini croissants. They changed vendors a couple of years ago and this one is awful. The buns are small and less of them. Often don’t rise. But still exorbitantly expensive. Same for the mini croissants. Haven’t had a box that rises yet from this vendor! I’ve bought these every Thanksgiving and Christmas for over 20 years and they’re a real family tradition. But I am done with them. Expensive and inedible.

Ordered Christmas dinner. When ordering said would be delivered by December 17, received email that 1/2 of order would not be arriving until mid January. Should I tr my guests to come back then??? Called… customer service representative was very dismissive. Horrible experience!! Never again!!
I am so disappointed in the service
I am so disappointed in the service! I placed an order on December 12. Got a confirmation. Then nothing. Then, after some research, they noted it would be received by January 7th. Requested to cancel the order with a Williams-Sonoma rep and was told it would take a few days to get a response. If no response, then nothing I could do. It was for Christmas! Literally, no response from WS or the vendor who is supposed to ship it unless I call WS. Still not shipped. (12/20).

I was at the Westport CT store ready to check out. I went and stood in line behind a woman at the register and was abruptly told that I couldn’t stand there. I was told to stand under the sign hanging from the ceiling that said “live starts here”. Hanging from the ceiling … really?! Then I was called to the register and the saleswoman started packing up glasses for another customer! So I went back to the hanging sign and waited again. I won’t be going back to this location. I don’t appreciate being treated like I don’t matter. You need to work on your customer service skills! I gave two stars because they have good stock.
Poor customer service
I ordered an item for Christmas that arrived broken due to poor packing. Customer Service credited the amount, but told me I would need to reorder. In one week, the price had gone up by$10 and I would need to pay $26 for next day shipping in order for it to arrive by the holiday. This was totally their fault.
The customer service person was able to secure the original pricing, but they refused to cover shipping costs for it to arrive as originally ordered. The customer service person was very nice, but her hands were tied and management refused to cover the extra shipping cost. So, my gift, ordered well in advance, will arrive AFTER the holiday.
This is unacceptable customer service!!!
Customer Service agent CURSED at me and had my personal info
Called cust service to ask question about aprons, when i finally got a person I asked “I’m looking at your aprons…” and was interrupted by agent grunting “no you’re not”. He did this several times. I finally said “what are you saying?”, he started cursing, called me a B*tch and said I talked too much. He started using the F work multiple times. I asked for his supervisor, he said NO. I asked for his name and he said MY NAME! He had access to my personal information based on my phone number! I just stopped talking and let him go off then silence then he hung up. I called back to report this and new cust service agent was UNABLE TO CONNECT ME TO SUPV but had me email him with my complaint and he forwarded to a supv (?) and said someone would respond by tonight or tomorrow. Not holding my breath. This crazy person who works for WS has my personal information now and the personal info of any WS customer!!! How is that okay? This is frightening. I’m closing all my accounts with WS but I’m afraid they’ll still have my info. NEVER ORDERING FROM THEM OR THEIR PARTNER COMPANIES AGAIN.
Simply the Worst of Experiences
Ordered Christmas gifts on November 23, 2025 with delivery showing as the first week of December, 2025. Today is the 19th of December and my order is now sitting in Ontario with no pre-Christmas delivery time in site. I called today to cancel the orders, but it was not permitted.
This is not the first time Williams Sonoma has let us down, but it will be the last as we will never purchase from them again!?!
Overpriced OXO
The item I purchased wasn't what I wanted. I paid 12.00 to have it shipped to me and they are deducting another 12.00 from my refund for me shipping it back. Absolutely disgusting, I will never purchase from their store again.

False charges and terrible customer service
I ordered three items from William and Sonoma. Two of the items were in the store, and I drove there to pick them up the third item which I got free shipping on, had to ship to the store and then I was going to pick it up. When I called about the shipping charge which was 1295 they told me that it was on the two items that I had picked up at the store. I asked them how could they charge me for shipping and handling on items that were already in the store and that I picked up and they were not shipped. The representative informed me that it was due to handling. The handling that they would’ve done in the store if I was in the store and purchased the item. This is false advertisement. They charge me shipping for items that they did not have to ship anywhere. I am done with Williams and Sonoma.

My recent experience with Williams Sonoma has been nothing short of infuriating. If this is what they call “premium,” then the bar is on the floor.
I received a $200 gift card as a housewarming gift and expected quality and professionalism. What I got instead was a complete run-around, misleading inventory, outrageous shipping costs, and some of the worst product handling I’ve ever seen from a major retailer.
Online items show as “in stock,” but the moment you try to check out, they magically disappear. In-store selection is a fraction of what’s online, yet shipping is $25 with NO ship-to-store option. It’s 2025 — this is unacceptable and outdated.
After multiple failed attempts to order anything, I finally placed a successful order. It took 13 days to arrive (again, with premium shipping fees). When I opened the box, it looked like someone had literally thrown everything inside. A set of FOUR Irish mugs came as ONE mug wrapped in paper — no bubble wrap, no note, nothing. The under-cabinet storage I ordered looked cheap, chipped, and poorly made. Absolutely not Williams Sonoma quality.
Customer service was just as disappointing. I was offered a partial shipping refund of only $7.80 and a partial refund for the 3 missing mugs. That’s it. No apology credit, no full shipping refund, no full refund for the mugs, no attempt to make things right after repeated issues. Even the “supervisors” refused to do anything.
Williams Sonoma clearly relies on its brand name but delivers dollar-store level service and zero accountability. The quality, the packaging, the shipping policies, the customer care — every part of this experience failed. I will never shop here again, and I’ll be telling everyone I know the same.
If this is how they treat customers who try to give them business, they don’t deserve it.
Total nightmare
Very rare posting any reviews but decided to share - ordered a very expensive espresso machine as Thanksgiving present for family member , signed for perfectly sealed box with UPS, after opening a box no espresso machine inside only some accessories, it was a worst nightmarish customer service experience in my life , will never shop there again , I would not advise to order anything online unless you have at least 2 independent witnesses ( not family members) and cameras in your house to record unboxing. Shame on you WS.

Horrible Experience
Horrible Experience! I ordered a KitchenAid stand mixer and they suddenly canceled the order without explanation! I have since learned that Williams Sonoma sells A LOT of products that they don’t actually have in stock! Successfully ordered the mixer from another merchant.
Doesn't stand behind their branded items
I had bought the electric charged Williams Sonoma salt and pepper shakers about 15 years ago in NYC. Honestly, they functioned quite well and eventually stopped charging, but 15 years is a long time for an oft-used item. For my separate rental apartment, I bought the same shakers 2 years ago. They were well over $100 and stopped charging after about a year. I finally got around today to bringing them into the Miami Beach shop. The manager could have cared less about the fact that these were company-branded and looked brand new (albeit that they were 2 years old); she gave me 20% off a manual pair of Cole & Mason shakers (which brought them to about $80 total). When I left the old shakers there, she asked if I wanted to take them. Why would I want these crappy items that don't work??? I'll look for a home goods store next time with a better reputation.
