Appalling fitting of kitchen, live wires left uncovered (workman got electric shock), socket sparking when plugged in kettle, sink plumbing fitted wrong, sink broken, worktops cut wrong, cupboard doors not aligned, handles not straight, wood panel edges rough cut and unsightly, panels cut too short, silicone filler excessively used to disguise errors, plug socket upside down, holes in panels, drawers catching. I paid extra for installation of tiling - was a disaster - tiles had to be ripped off. I cancelled installation - struggling to get a refund. Brand new oven doesn’t work. Fitting started 30 Aug - after a struggle had a Wickes technical inspection 2 Oct. Told a safety electrical check priority and to get oven working. 10 days later still waiting - can’t use plug sockets. Appalled my family are left with potentially unsafe electrics. Complained to CEO, David Wood - no response. No element of kitchen installation was professional, total lack of care and attention, appallingly poor workmanship. An upsetting and stressful experience affecting my health in particular. Problems consume thoughts 24/7, losing sleep, stress affecting stomach. Ongoing disruption to family life - no end in sight.

UPDATE: No response from anyone, completely abandoned. 12 days since technical inspection of kitchen 2 Oct - manager is ignoring my requests for confirmation of when the safety electrical check will happen. No technical report been issued detailing all the work needed to correct the kitchen. Still no working oven, kitchen waste blocking our drive for 5 weeks, still not received refund for tiling installation which I cancelled 9 Sept because tiler had no experience and horrendous tiling had to be removed. No air vent fitted below fridge/freezer - compressor is over heating.
No response from CEO, he clearly doesn’t care about his customers.
We have lost all trust and confidence in Wickes - the slogan promoted by Phil Spencer ‘proud as a peacock’ couldn’t be further from the reality. It is beyond belief that customers are left with potentially unsafe electrics and ignored.

UPDATE: Still no communication from Field Service Manager re Wickes carrying out electrical safety check of kitchen. Escalated to his Manager, no response. Inspection was 2 October.

Due to the appalling negligence shown to myself and family’s safety, I arranged for an electrical safety check to be undertaken by a firm of electricians today. The inspection revealed that all the electrical wiring is unsafe and a fire risk. The electricians had never seen before such bad examples of electrical wiring in the 10 years of working in the trade. The lights, sockets and appliances all need re-wiring.

The Wickes Manager has put my life and family’s at risk of electrocution and fire by abandoning his duty of care to his customer.

I am pursing a claim through Small Claims Court and have spoken with Citizens Advice Bureau.

UPDATE: Technical site report issued 3 weeks after inspection. No reference to appalling state of electrics. No communication still from Field Service Manager, his Manager, CEO David Wood’s office or JG (acknowledged first feedback & said would deal with as priority).
Following Citizen’s Advice a formal Letter of Complaint sent to Wickes, my response to technical report highlighting negligent omissions, a copy of electrical safety report received from electricians I arranged.
Case referred to Customer Relations.

Went to Dewsbury store this week. My husband has just had 2 hernia operations and cannot lift anything heavy just yet. The bags of cold lay tarmac were too heavy for me to lift in to the boot of the car.
Viktor helped us to do this. He was lovely, very pleasant and polite. Thank you Viktor you are a credit to the Dewsbury store

Visited wicks in Dewsbury today and asked for help from Viktor he was really pleasant and took the time to make sure we got the correct items we needed thought he needed a mention

I run a vocational education centre in Pudsey and Wortley. James and the team at Wickes, Pudsey have kindly donated £100 worth of tools including tape measures and screwdrivers. This helps keep our equipment and materials in good order to deliver an excellent experience

The staff in the Pudsey store were really helpful and efficient. The delivery came on time and the delivery staff went the extra mile. The communication prior to delivery was superb.

The staff were great during our most recent visit. Keen to answer any questions that we had and one member of staff, Andrew, also took the time to show us around options of their stock available. Great customer service.
