Wickes Thurmaston branch: Kitchen Design Consultation:
Not really sure how I give a rating as the design consultant did not turn up. Twenty minutes after the time our appointment was due to start I rang the office who phoned the consultant. He told them he couldn't find our house and didn't have a phone signal so couldn't phone for directions. "Where is he now?" I asked , ready to walk into our lane and look for him. "On his way to another appointment - you'll have to re-book." was the reply. "But there's still 35 minutes left of our appointment !" I said.
Why was the consultant unable to get out of his car and knock on a neighbour's door for directions? If he had no phone signal how was his office able to contact him? Why had he given up with so much time left of our appointment? If he'd made the effort to find us and turned up late and then said he needed to rebook to allow more time I would have found the whole situation much easier to understand. Since we moved here in May, he is the only person who has failed to find us and we've had lots of tradespeople coming to quote. The house number is clearly marked on the gate and also beside the gate.

The day before a lady phoned me asking me all sorts of strange questions - in particular implying that we wouldn't be able to afford the kitchen we'd chosen - I got the feeling she thought we'd pull out. She said the designer was not coming to advise us or discuss our requirements- just measure up! It was all very weird. I told her that our house was about half way down the lane behind a farm gate.

Altogether, zero service but I can't give zero stars. I told the man I spoke to in the office not to re-book - I think we had a narrow escape!! We won't be buying our kitchen from Wickes!

I found Adam a great help he listened to what I wanted and designed my kitchen without me needing to change anything . He was very friendly and put me at ease right from the start.

Having spent half an hour selecting goods and entering all my payment details (as I have done a number of times in the past) I finally got to the end only to be told my order was 'unsuccessful'- without any explanation as to why.
Later, I received an email telling me my order was now ready to be completed if I clicked on a following link.
When I did this my basket showed 0 items so I would have had to go through the whole process again not knowing if my order was going to be 'unsuccessful' again when I got to the end.
Very annoying. This ordering system is not, in my opinion, fit for purpose. I will not be using Wickes again.

I enquired about having a complete new bathroom, I spoke to Adam wells who came out, measured up and designed the bathroom, he was very professional, knowledgable and friendly, so much so I went ahead and booked in the job with Adam

I am absolutely delighted with the service I have been given in the planning and purchase of my kitchen.
Adam Wells is extremely knowledgeable about all Wickes products and was very aware of what is required in a “cooks” kitchen. The plan is exactly what I wanted.
Adam’s customer service is second to none, right from the point of first contact through to purchase. It was very evident that he enjoys what he does, and this was clear throughout my experience.
I found the whole process very enjoyable and fun and this was down to Adam’s manner and knowledge.
I will definitely recommend Wickes to friends and family.

I’m extremely disappointed with my recent kitchen installation experience with Wickes. After placing my order at the Wickes Thurmaston store, the process quickly became stressful, disjointed, and ultimately far more expensive than I had been led to believe.

I was assured that the “Specialist Works” quote was a worst-case scenario and would likely come down after the installer’s survey. Instead, it increased by 50% (£1,200 more), with no proper explanation. Communication between the design consultant and the installer was virtually non-existent, resulting in confusion, delays, and last-minute changes that I was expected to pay for.

I was also promised a pre-Christmas installation, only to be told it would take place in January after I’d already paid. At this point, switching to an alternative supplier (who had originally quoted cheaper) was no longer possible.

To make matters worse, Wickes over-ordered over £800 in materials, which took months and repeated chasing to refund - adding unnecessary financial pressure over the Christmas period.

Despite raising a formal complaint and following up for months, the response from customer services was slow, dismissive, and completely inadequate. I was offered just £150 in compensation, despite being left out of pocket by over £1,200.

The kitchen itself is lovely thanks to the fitter, but the experience of dealing with Wickes was frustrating, misleading, and emotionally draining. I would strongly urge others to consider alternative suppliers with more transparent pricing and reliable service.

We came in to pick up some bits for the garden and the young tall lad who was on the till was really helpful. Offered to help take our bits to the car which we appreciated as I’m getting on a bit now :)
We will be back again

Visited Wickes Thurmaston this week and what an experience. The staff were so friendly and extremely helpful when I asked them where things were. Such a positive upbeat environment and managed to get everything I needed. Will definitely be back.

Me and my partner visited the Thurmaston store this week and I would just like to say the staff were brilliant,.. very friendly, we placed an order for delivery and while doing so the ladies on the desk were so welcoming and humorous it was a nice experience,

I went into store today and can’t thank the staff enough, they were very knowledgeable and helpful with all my questions and made me feel at ease discussing my kitchen upgrade.

Bought stuff for my garden and the staff were really helpful.

Visited Wickes Thurmaston this week to place an order for delivery, was served by a young man called Kieran. What a polite individual he was, placed my order with ease. The delivery followed the same theme, delivered by a gentleman called Martin, very polite and professional, goods delivered on time and in full, good efficient service.

Went to look at kitchens at the Thurmaston store the advisor was very good at helping us find our kitchen and had no problem, we however also bought a few things and we wanted some plant pots so i went to the customer service desk and smiled and said 'hi' to the girl at the desk and there was no smile and no hello from her she pointed to the pots and shook her head when I asked if they had anymore. I found her rude she needs to be trained on how to serve customers even though she was a supervisor Luvleen Kaur she should know better.

The warranty process is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever been through.

If you’re thinking about getting a full bathroom fitted by Wickes, I would think twice.

My mother in law bought a full bathroom from Wickes and when it came to designing, buying and getting the bathroom fitted, everything was spot on. The sales team at the Leicester store were great. Wickes use independent local contractors to fit the bathrooms who were also great every step of the way.

Then about 18 months after installation, the toilet button failed and it was installed behind tiles with no access point. This is the moment we realised there was a design fault.

Just to get this button fixed, it’s taken us over 8 months of constant back and forth with customer services to get this approved while not having a functioning toilet. We raised the complaint while we had warranty but it took so long to get responses and approvals, the warranty expired and then they tried to play the game of ‘we have no warranty now so we will have to pay for the work. No chance.

We managed to get hold of Andrew Cassidy, who is the Aftersales Field Manager for the local area who pushed it through for us, result, or so we thought. It took a further 4 months of back and forth to get the job booked in. Andrew never answered calls or text, never responds to the contractors. But we kept pushing and pushing and eventually we got there.

As you can imagine, there is more to the story but this is an overview to keep it short as possible, and to warn people to think twice about having any full installations through Wickes. Never again would I use them.

Independent installers in the future.

After the excellent kitchen fit I was hoping to give a better review…. However, I’m now without a bathroom due to FIVE delivery failures. Despite giving more than adequate instructions we were apparently ‘not in’ to accept on 3 occasions. Well I AM here - I’ve got a broken knee so pretty housebound!
First lot of kit was damaged on arrival, the second also but the wrong things to boot.
Customer care ( term used loosely) pretty rude and the designer totally uninterested.

Richard was incredibly helpful to me, helped me to fit attachments to a new hose I bought for my new pressure washer and explained how to use it and connect everything properly. Thank you Richard for your outstanding customer service, I really appreciate it!

I’d definitely return to this store. I found the staff to be very helpful, resulting in me finding everything needed for my project. The store was well organised & tidy.
