Reviewing designer Coco Astridge at the Eastbourne Branch. Coco has been brilliant throughout the process from home visit to measure up, creating a fantastic kitchen design despite the intricacies and constraints of my kitchen size and layout, right through to delivery. I have been able to pop in to the store with questions and she has been happy to help me. She is experienced, imaginative and friendly, being aware that what might be routine for her is a big deal to the customer.

Colleen Astridge provided an experienced and courteous service when helping me plan my new kitchen down to the last query and detail. The builders employed, Heartfield Carpentry, were also excellent, experienced and friendly and gave me every opportunity to comment on what they were doing or planned. They were fully trustworthy and I have already recommended them to a friend.

Coco Astridge very easy to deal with. Efficient, polite and always on hand to help. A marked difference to other suppliers. I ordered pretty much everything for bathrooms, flooring with her and she was even there after the initial service to help with delivery. Thank you

We bought a kitchen from Wickes Eastbourne and had it fitted in October 2025. For convenience I asked our kitchen designer to recommend a fitter as Wickes don’t assign fitters for Lifestyle kitchens. He did and assured us he wouldn’t suggest anyone who wasn’t going to do a good job, so we felt confident to go ahead.
The installation work was done in a hurry and shortcuts taken. Problems with units and worktops fitted at an angle, the fridge extending past the end of a wall and into the recess space for the back door, numerous issues with the worktops, panels left too long and every drawer handle fitted off-centre. The fitter’s answer to the problem with the fridge and the units sitting at an angle was to blame the walls not being straight rather than taking the time to deal with it properly. The old kitchen (same layout) was fitted without issue despite the walls.
Numerous return visits were needed to deal with other problems including the new oven fitted into a gap that was too narrow causing damage to both side panels and making it impossible to close the doors leaving me without an oven for several days, two leaks to the sink and we also had to ask him to cut a gap in a panel so we could access the washing machine waste pipe.
I was aware Wickes had no responsibility for the fitting but did speak to our kitchen designer who admitted being in an awkward position as he had recommended the fitter. He suggested remedial work by the original fitter and said Wickes would cover the cost to replace anything needed. After the poor standard of work, the numerous return visits and his dismissive attitude I explained I had no confidence in the fitter’s workmanship and was not going to let him do any more work to my kitchen. The designer suggested the fitter may have been distracted or in a rush to get to another job when fitting our kitchen as though this excused his second-rate workmanship. This was insulting and not helpful.
Knowing we were at a disadvantage by refusing the offer of remedial work and wanting this awful situation over with we decided to pay a competent fitter to correct the installation mistakes. I obtained an assessment and quote to install the kitchen correctly and further shortcuts in the installation work were found. The original fitter offered to contribute to the cost, but it was made very clear it would be a small amount. I sent the quote to the kitchen designer to pass on to him as discussed. The designer replied with a very curt email reminding me this had nothing to do with Wickes and was between me and the fitter. Both facts I was already aware of. His friendly, helpful manner had disappeared which took me aback as he was already aware we would be paying someone else to fix the mess his recommended fitter had made.
I had earlier written to the fitter on advice from the CAB regarding the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The letter went to an old address, and his response was to suggest this was a breach of GDPR, misuse of personal information and a possible criminal offence. This was incorrect which a call to the Information Commissioner’s Office confirmed. I put him straight on this. This made what was already a very upsetting situation even worse and I ended all contact with this unpleasant individual.
We had felt confident in using a fitter whose work was endorsed by our kitchen designer, expecting a professional installation, not the upset and inconvenience that followed. We have since had most of our kitchen refitted, including new worktops and tiling, by a reputable local company. It now looks as it should, but unfortunately at significant additional cost and a great deal of upset along the way.
When it comes to the fitting of your new kitchen please don’t make the same mistake we did. Find a good kitchen fitter yourself who values their reputation and customers.
Even though my kitchen is now fitted correctly, I’ll always be reminded of this regrettable experience every time I walk into it—thanks to Wickes.
ETA 8/5/26 - Despite the message below and an email asking for more info within 3 days otherwise my review wouldn't be recognized as genuine, I have heard nothing from Wickes. I think that says it all.

I popped in today at around 4:45pm to the kitchen department as I’m looking for a new kitchen. I walked around for a bit and noticed a lady sitting behind one of the desks, busy on her phone. I waited nearby as I didn’t want to disturb her while she was occupied.
When she finished, I approached her and politely asked if she could show me around. She abruptly said “no.” I then asked if she worked there, and she replied “no.” I found that quite confusing, as she had been using one of the computers. I asked if she was visiting, and she said yes. I simply said “okay” and went to reception to ask if someone could assist me.
A gentleman there kindly said someone was available and walked back with me to the kitchen department. We came across the same lady, and he asked her if she could help. She said she was about to leave, and he apologised to me. It was clear at that point that she was in fact part of the team.
I honestly don’t understand how someone so rude can be in a customer-facing role. Because of this experience, I won’t be returning, even if the kitchens were being given away for free.
To that lady, I would say: if you were about to finish, not in the mood to work, or unable to help, you could have simply asked me to come back another time. If you don’t like your job, perhaps it’s best to leave it to someone who does. Behaviour like this reflects poorly on the business.
I would appreciate it if someone from management could get in touch with me, as I would like to identify the staff member involved.

I cannot thank Coco, based at the Eastbourne branch of Wickes, and Mick Cooper, and his bathroom fitter enough, regarding my brand new bathroom.
Nothing was too much trouble from the beginning of the project and Cocos personal service and advice was great. She went above and beyond, when the bath was delivered by just one delivery driver, and it had to sit outside the flat for 3 days in the rain, bringing tarpaulin over to keep it covered up, on her day off.
Mick and Peter were friendly and considerate, as I worked 4 days that they were here fitting the bathroom, and have a dog.
From start to finish, ripping everything out and replacing everything, re-tiling and painting walls and ceiling, took just over 5 days.
They explained everything, and sorted any issues out quickly with minimal fuss. They clearly explained where there maybe additional costs and they cleaned everything up after themselves.
All in all, a pleasant and less stressful experience than I thought it would be, and whilst expensive, the bathroom is now just as I wanted and looks amazing.
I'd definitely recommend Wickes bespoke service and Mick as well, if you're looking for a bathroom revamp.

We had Wickes refloor our kitchen and refit our little utility room. We bought the materials from them and used tradesmen recommended by them but not employed by them.
We had problems with deliveries, including wrong things being delivered, things not being delivered, and things being delivered when we were on holiday.
Our main complaint however is around the recommended tradesmen who left before the required work was finished, and who left all the packaging and other bits and pieces left over in our garage for me to clear away and take to the dump.
I went to Wickes Eastbourne office to complain about the lack of professionalism from their recommended tradesmen and was disappointed when they essentially washed their hands of our problems and told us to take things up with the tradesmen ourselves.
Be warned. Some of the tradesmen recommended by Wickes Eastbourne are unreliable and unprofessional and I would advise you to avoid them altogether. Wickes will not help if there are problems.

It was so stressful and involved constant chasing, a job which should have 1/2 weeks took 3 months for completion. Work which had been agreed to wasn't done which meant additional expense for me to rectify. In spite of being measured twice a unit did't fit footprint which had to be improvised, sink drainage had to be replaced, cracked tile, fitter wanted fit units on wet plaster.
I thought using Wickes would be an additional guarantee for a professional job but it was unprofessional and extremely disappointing. I was met with arrogance and abuse. Started 16/9/25 - 13/12/25

This is my second kitchen from Wickes and on this occasion there was a slight hiccup with the delivery which I didn't notice until way after the 30 days , as soon as I realised this I contacted Coco at the Eastbourne branch who was very understanding, listened to my predicament and assured me she would do all she could to resolve the issue. Coco contacted everyone involved and negotiated a very acceptable outcome to the whole situation. I cannot thank Coco enough for all her hard work in resolving what could've been an awkward situation, I would not hesitate in recommending Coco and the Eastbourne branch if they are looking at a new kitchen.

No longer 'proud as a peacock'. Our Wickes kitchen fitted Feb 2025 has proved unfit for purpose and the warranty has proved completely worthless. So, our 24K kitchen problems: within 4 months the compact laminate worktop, sold as super tough, had chipped. The warranty team insisted it was 'impact damage', without inspection and no offer made to repair it. As far as we're concerned we did not chip it. Our worktop is NOT super tough.
The Carysil hot tap filter lid popped off, flooding the kitchen. Again, not covered, but it caused more problems (read below).
The Wickes flooring, sold to us as waterproof (we double-checked this due to leaks with a previous kitchen), is NOT due to the Carysil filter leak. We now have to pay £700 to claim on our insurance as the flooring is ruined, as is the sub-floor (the fridges now lean towards each other as the floor is damaged).
The third, and only problem covered under warranty is the section of under-cupboard lights that stopped working. Even that didn't go smoothly, as the warranty team sent the wrong lighting strip , which the electrician had to cobble together.
Our (in our opinion) sub-standard kitchen has lost its shine - it only took 4 - 7 months before it fell apart. Wickes warranty team took months over our claim and rejected most of our concerns as our fault. THEY WERE NOT 🤬😟

Using Wickes provided a start-to-end solution, from design and supply through to fitting, including all aspects of project management. Rob Hicks at Wickes in Eastbourne was incredibly helpful in helping choose the design and advising on different products, while the fitting was completed by a local family-run business (Clemilson Honorato), guaranteed by Wickes. Clemi's wife,, Lynsay, made all necessary arrangements and was extremely quick to respond to any request, while Clem and his son, Michael, completed all the work to a fantastic standard. They were also the nicest and friendliest people you could ever wish to meet. I cannot recommend them highly enough and I am absolutely thrilled with my new kitchen.

Coco was such a lovely consultant- she really gave us good ideas for the bathroom. She also lead us to the more economical option at times, which kept the bathroom affordable. I felt that she was personally committed to us having a bathroom that we would enjoy.
We had to wait for installation as the first contractor was not available, but it was worth the wait. Robert Pym was so knowledgeable and so professional that we felt from the start that we could trust him, and his team were all excellent too. His quote included everything that might have to be repaired, which meant that the final bill was less than expected.
All in all, we are very pleased - from planning to completion, and are already discussing the kitchen with Coco- and Robert is booked!

Rob Hicks, design consultant at Wickes, did an excellent design of the kitchen, explaining the possibilities clearly and showing me the range of available styles and materials. He facilitated the use of a somewhat unusual type of stone worktop (Rosa Beta, a type of granite which is actually an attractive pinkish quartz monzonite from Sardinia) that integrates very nicely in the kitchen design. This addition proved a little fiddly to organize, but with Rob's assistance and a helpful customer service operator at Wickes it worked out very well. I thoroughly recommend Wickes and their installer, Heartwood Carpentry Ltd.

The delivery was on time and the final product looks lovely. Our installer, Clemilson, associated to the Eastbourne store, did a great job. He is a very polite guy who communicated well and kept me updated each day.
