Unprofessional and Incompetent

I received unprofessional and bad services from Wheelbase Garage through Fixter. I sent my car for MOT in Feb 2026 the car at and EML light on and the garage suggested additional work for Spring coil replacement. After 6 days in garage my car was returned on 28th Feb, they Fixter and the Garage charged my £2561, but my car was returned with EML light still showing. The Garage picked up my car again to fix it on 16th March, returned my car on 18th March 7.30pm. Next day when i switched on the car it showed new ESC and pre-sense faults in my dashboard. So, they returned the car in a state which was unsafe for driving. When i contacted them to report, they asked me to contact again after lunch showing no urgency to fix the issues. Overall their approach was unprofessional and they did not fix the issue even after charging and created new issues in my car. I am now in process of launching official complaint with Motor Ombudsman. I'll strongly recommend against using their services.

AVOID - Unprofessional, refused refund, ignored 5 emails.

My experience with Wheelbase Prestige has been appalling from start to finish and I would strongly advise others to avoid dealing with them.

On 19 December 2025, I paid a £1,000 deposit (which was later refunded) and I also paid an additional £377.66 by debit card for brake work (“new brakes/discs”) on their vehicle that I intended to purchase. I was later called in to collect the car, but the car was not ready as agreed, which wasted my time and caused me to lose confidence in how the sale and preparation were being handled. I cancelled the purchase before handover/collection.

Despite the sale not completing, Wheelbase Prestige refused to refund the £377.66. I was not provided any invoice/receipt for that payment, no terms and conditions were provided to me at the time, and I was never told (verbally or in writing) that this money would be non-refundable if I did not proceed.

What makes this worse is the complete lack of accountability:

They repeatedly said my emails were “sent to the Director”, but nobody ever responded.

I emailed formally on 27 Jan 2026, 9 Feb 2026, 17 Feb 2026, 24 Feb 2026, and again as a fifth reminder — and made several calls — and they still ignored me.

I was even told via staff to wait for a Director to respond, yet there was no response at all.

In effect, I paid for work that improves their vehicle’s value, they kept the money after the sale collapsed, and then they refused to engage in writing or provide basic paperwork. This is not how a professional business should operate.

AVOID ! and if you deal with them then be prepared for poor communication if anything goes wrong.

I am very disappointed with my recent…

I am very disappointed with my recent experience at this garage. I originally brought my vehicle in to replace a plug module to clear a dashboard warning light. However, immediately following this repair, the car began having significant trouble starting.

When I returned for a follow-up, I was surprised by the lack of communication regarding costs. Most reputable garages provide a diagnostic estimate or a quote for potential additional issues before proceeding. After already spending over £200, I was informed of an additional £400 charge to resolve the new issue.

Ultimately, the faulty part was removed, yet I was still charged for labor. I have essentially paid for a service that left my vehicle in worse condition than when I arrived. I cannot recommend this garage based on their pricing transparency and diagnostic quality.

The original repair we carried out was diagnoised by the owners servicing garage, we renewed the glow plug control unit as requested. The customer booked the vehicle back in for an intermittant issue with starting, cranking over for too long. We spent over 2 vhours running a full diagnostic check including connecting to VW's database and found a technical bulletin relating to a fuel pressure sensor. This has nothing to do with the glow plug control module which was not diagnoised by Wheelbase. As the customer did not want to pay for the full repair the labour was reduced and the replacement part removed. At no point did the customer mention he did not expect to pay for the diagnostic work and that this issue only started after the glow plug control module was fitted. I beleive we have been fair and honest about the repairs to his vehicle and provided the replacement part number so he could go back to his original garage if necessary.

We bought a used Audi A4 estate from Wheelbase yesterday, what can I say, outstanding! Fantastic service, ready with the car to test drive and all the information the moment we arrived. The purchase was simple, straightforward and masterfully managed by Chelsey. When the time comes for another new car, we will be heading back to wheelbase.

Great customer service

I have just returned from Wheelbase after having my car checked for an annoying fault. The service I received was amazing I was asked to get to Wheelbase just before 8am which I did the gentleman behind the reception desk couldn't have been more helpful the fault was sorted out with great efficiency. Thank you Wheelbase

Wheelbase winners!

Where do I start with my experience of using Wheelbase! I can only start by saying FANTASTIC! I recently travelled 100 miles to have a large engine job completed. The advice I received from Jamie was not only reassuring, but explained in a way that anybody could understand. Also, the lady in reception was polite and prompt with replies to any questions I had. The use of a free courtesy vehicle was a real game changer, as it enabled me to travel to work for the whole time my vehicle was off road. They have also just extended this outstanding service to my son, at very short notice. I would highly recommend Wheelbase to anyone, near or far from Burgess Hill.
Thank you to all the team that got me safely back on the road.

Self interest rules

They took my money for work that they’d done and only then told me that whilst in their care my vehicle had been damaged. Not very impressed and not been back, since.

Honest and Genuine Garage

As a young woman, it's difficult to find a genuine, honest garage which isn't just out to make money - Wheelbase may just be the exception to this rule. I found a high-spec, low mileage car I liked being sold by Wheelbase via Autotrader in July 2020 and went to view it the next day, the staff were great, knew the entire history of the car (having sold it from brand new and carried out the FSH themselves) and didn't use any high-pressure sales tactics which made the whole process easier. I purchased the car which came with a complimentary Autoguard warranty.

Unfortunately, through no fault of Wheelbase, there was a wear and tear issue with the car so I took it to my local main VW dealer (Wheelbase is just over an hour away from me) who quoted me £2,000 which I soon found out was exaggerating the issue more than it needed to be to get more money from me. I spoke to the warranty company to submit a claim and I then, shortly after, received a call from Wheelbase who, having been notified by Autoguard, offered to replace the part for me meaning it didn't cost me anything - they even covered a majority of the diagnosis fee I'd paid to the main dealer!

They really have proved themselves to go above and beyond, and they are one of few garages I feel I could trust implicitly. As an approved VW Audi dealer they sell both brand new and used cars, and I have no doubt that when I come to upgrade my car they will be my first port of call. I cannot thank them enough for their honesty, friendliness and all-round fantastic service.

Excellent independent Audi/VW specialist

I've lived locally since 2003 and during this time my wife and I (and our growing family) have owned 6 Audi cars all looked after by the team at Wheelbase. Whether it's a scheduled service with complimentary loan car, or interim work, Colin and Andy are both extremely helpful, and the workshop team including SuperMunn have always come up with effective solutions. We highly recommend them.
