Grossly incompetent
Whether it's dealing with chargebacks, additional cardholders, or my card getting blocked for fraud while traveling overseas with no notification and no path to easy resolution without calling... this is by far the worst customer service I've ever received in my 25+ years of banking across the US and NZ. I find myself frequently gobsmacked by the incompetence that would make a bank sit-com look like a tame documentary. Honestly, WTF?

They need to fix their online banking app. Seems the developers are incompetent and unable to get it running properly. App freezes and closes by itself when trying to enter password. Absolutely pathetic and untrustworthy.

The on line facility is often not available and when it is it has numerous problems, like today I was unable to change payment details. They are also using the Money Laundering legislation to limit transactions they will allow. Even though I do all my transaction including Business since 1980

Contacted credit card services, the lady that answered the phone call couldn’t even say my name correctly Nigel, after telling her my name correctly, she kept calling me Nigwel, this is very rude and offensive, this person was very unprofessional in her conduct

All my money was taken from my cheque account with no explanation. $5,500ish. I spent an entire day trying to find out why and I spoke to so many different people at Westpac who didn’t believe me, kept passing the buck and spoke to me as though I was mad. I was very polite throughout but was getting very frustrated near the end. Eventually someone realised they’d made an error, but the way I was treated was abysmal. Nobody deserves this.

Absolute rubbish online functionality. The site is always glitching. Want to add a new Payee: cross your fingers it's in the mood. Pretty much anything I want to do that requires a new payee, process or account I just ring them. Their CEO should have their head in shame.

I have to report scammers over and over. It is always somehow my fault not theirs. Even when they have never submitted correct card info? The ask the bank for access and no problem
But me. I have to keep sending money for interest and scammers.
And super awesome is every single time I try to make a purchase I am blocked. And I have heard excuse after excuse. Probably over 100 calls about just this issue and no one cares. I have to ring in every single purchase and have all safety removed then any pending purchases flood in and the prices are increasing because of my repeated attempts to purchase. I regularly have my cards maxed and this is now my fault. And my problem the bank will absolutely not care or help

I have also had accounts sterilized because of the constant attempts at payment. So for example Amazon sterilized my account for my safety. When they see hundreds of attempts this seems scammie but in truth it’s just Westpac incompetence. I lost about 30,000 dollars to Amazon. My entire and massive audio books collection deleted along with all other digital media and throw on top of that a 6k projector and a 5k screen plus a bunch of other items that were in transit all lost.
And when I try to explain the issues to Westpac they attempt to say they just don’t understand. They will not contact Amazon to explain that it actually was them that blocked the payments. They also will absolutely not help me to fix the problems they create. And truly don’t care
The security is a joke a huge number of customers are having issues with the forced 2fa and then you don’t just get treated like a criminal you get to enjoy an additional 15 min to half an hour or grilling. But then over and over an hour into a call you get told they still can’t help you because you failed the receive a text verification
I have to remind this bank many times that’s it’s my money and I am the customer. They truly don’t care. Come to where you are a number. Absolutely nothing more.
The staff are trained in angering customers. If you are either enraged or suicidal this appears to be a massive win. You walk away or die and then they get to just keep everything
I am now ringing Indian and Nigerian scam call centres. The service is actually better

As a born kiwi I was refused an account even though I've had one previously! Seems Westpac only taking working people now and inly care about their own pockets being filled each week waiting for your hard earned wages to come through ( just not government payments ). I got a job n still was refused , no reason other then I was on a benefit before this... Don't sign up here if you have any self respect they like to take you down personally

Went to Westpac Palms to withdraw money from my bank account via teller to see signs everywhere stating no withdrawals on Saturdays as no cash is on premises.
Like what the hell! What about all the elderly who don’t use internet banking like my mother!

I can’t use internet banking nor my atm card due to being scammed on my phone device and now Westpac want me to cleanse all my devices. This is a lot of money to do, so I physically go into the bank with ID and get my money out.

I have been paying a supplier for years and in January the amount I paid him was returned to my account. I didn't know this and he sent me a message saying the amount was still owed. I tried calling the bank and telling them how upset I was about this action. I called at 7:15 a.m. and the answering machine said you were calling after hours. They help customers on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. It was after seven when I called.

I have just been stooped from having access to my disability payment money because of a fraud issue that has nothing to do with this. I need to go to a whitecross medical centre and they will not give me access.

I would never recommend this bank to anyone, the app is crappiest i had ever used. The app always crash for hours. I have been with them less than 5 months, it has been so many crashes like at least 5, when you are in urgent, it gives you so much stress. Their customer service is very poor, for a job that needs only 2 days max, they managed to turn it into 3 weeks, and still unable to do complete correctly and back to square one.

Happy to take your money but offering no change if you pay in cash. Told to return and put in a claim for the change during the week. ..A Claim!!! for what should be change for a payment of a bill that they are agents for. Was not told there was no change given at the time they insisted you deposit using machine as they refuse to take over counter. Infact stood and instructed me the steps. Then went ..opps sorry. You cant get change. What ..a bank with no money?.

One of the worst banks in NZ. Recently shifted my mortgage and this bank disappointed me few times in a short span. I will move to other bank as soon as my fix term end, can't wait.
